@bruce I’m not angry. I just find the way that NBC and 1600 Penn’s creators marketed themselves and the show to be ridiculous. Promotion is fine and expected. But any show needs to stand on it’s merits. I wanted to like the show and looked forward to it. The hype about Josh Gad and the former Obama speechwriter was over the top and used as a substitute for an actual product. and then all the internal ass kissing and self congratulatory tweets from all of them before the show ever aired and then after it’s pulling in 2.6 million viewers is a riot. This is a tough business and creating a good show is hard work. They thought they would just throw their gloves on the field and everyone would love them because they told you too. Life lesson for all.

If I’m looking at this correctly, it doesn’t say that 1600 Penn was bumped on 2/21. It would be fitting for it to air after the hour of Parks and Recreation since the two shows are kind of political related. All reports seem to say that The Office won’t air that night, so it would make sense for 1600 Penn to be back to fill the gap between Parks and the SVU repeat.

it appears that NBC still has a lot of work to do still.

Do No Harm cancelled, Penn & Up All Nite pre-empting & cast members leaving.
    30 Rock gone, Office leaving.

Go On, New Normal; ratings spinning downward every other week.

Thank God! I hated 1600 Penn so much. I unfortunately wasted 22 minutes of my life watching that horrid premier. Never watched a worse show. I am SO glad it is off…hopefully forever.

NBC – next season have a full 22-24 episodes of Revolution & Parenthood.
They both do better in the ratings than a majority of your shows. They maybe more expensive – but with higher ratings averages – you can justify charging more for your ads.

Can someone explain “sweeps” to me. why is it so important for it to air/not air during sweeps??

The sweeps periods correspond to the ratings books that come out. Feb,May and Nov. This is how the networks and their shows are measured, these are the ratings that are use by ad buyers and set advertising rates.

Looks like 1600 Penn will be canceled.
    Just keep The New Normal.

  • Chris

I like 1600 so I hope it rebounds or the rest of NBC collapses enough so that it doesn’t look so bad anymore. The latter seems very possible at this juncture.

  • Rebecca

So far it’s still airing on 2/21. I hope it survives…it would fit well with Parks, both being political comedies.
