    I have been ignoring AI ratings for years. i am so glad it is down so much.

    @Sarah

    Wow! That’s a huge drop on GA since season opening. It shows GA is going down hill while POI steadily and surely going up.

    Old dramas like Grey’s Anatomy always drop from their huge premieres. Obviously a nine-year-old show is not going to start rising. A young show like Person of Interest should be trending upwards. Person of Interest, despite being seven years younger than Grey’s Anatomy, has never even touched a 4.0, whereas Grey’s Anatomy notched a 4.4 this season. Person of Interest gets good ratings, but it’s no “big hit”; it struggles to beat a nine-year-old show. Person of Interest, in the unlikely event that it reaches nine seasons, will sure as hell not be pulling low 3’s (or the 2020 equivalent). That’s the reality.

    what makes you think POI will fall to 2.6? btw, I’ve never cared for it’s lead-in show (TAAHM).

    POI is a young show and trending upwards.

    Person of Interest fell in the spring last year, and ended its season with a low (for CBS) 2.6. The show is pulling low 3’s in the winter right now, which is what the show did last year, before dropping in the spring. I think the best this show will ever do is low 3’s, which is decent for a CBS procedural. And it doesn’t matter if you care for its lead-in — Two and a Half Men pulls 4.0+ on a weekly basis, which makes it CBS’s second-highest rated show.

    @askmelast79

    Poor Melissa. Get help. You are totally obsessed over this grays vs. POI thing. Geez, my post was not even meant for you to respond to and you did it it anyway. Seek counseling. You need it.

    If you didn’t want me to respond, then perhaps you shouldn’t have replied. Also, you were not the one who wrote the comment about Grey’s Anatomy always losing to Person of Interest; lol, you can’t even keep track of what you write. What you wrote about “Valentine’s Week” had nothing to do with Person of Interest vs. Grey’s Anatomy; it was just you making Fan Excuse Bingo about “your” show’s drop last year. Think next time. And no, I’m not “obsessed”, but when Person of Interest fans trash Grey’s Anatomy, I have a right to respond.

    Won’t matter. Pretty sure that CBS is happy with the current trend in the ratings and it will be renewed. #lovePOI

    No one is contesting it’s obvious renewal, but it is a fact that Grey’s Anatomy makes a lot more money than Person of Interest.

    @Petar Ivanov

    And POI beat Greys every wewk in PEOPLE CHOICE – VIEWERS. If we will talk only for 18-49 not other demos which is important only for renew/cancel index and TV netwotks making money than we should talk which show is more expensive and which cheaper. Which show will get huge syndication deal etc.

    POI all cast is 400-500 000$ per spisode. Greys only one actor take that money and all cast is around 2 million $ per episode.

    Lol, typical of you to try and boast about Person of Interest‘s total viewership. You know that does not matter at all. Grey’s Anatomy has a nice syndication deal, bringing in buckets of money. Netflix also purchased the rights to it, which gave the show more money. Also, Grey’s Anatomy has big adults 18–34 numbers, which is very valuable to advertisers, and it is the fifth-highest rated scripted show this season in the C+3 adults 18–49 metric, which is the basis for advertising pricing.

  • Melissa

    Correction: Person of Interest got a 2.5 for its season one finale, not even a 2.6.

    Add: In its first two seasons, Person of Interest has managed to fall as low as a 2.4, whereas Grey’s Anatomy has not fallen that low over the course of nine seasons. I think that speaks for itself.

  • Rob R

    I am just laughing at how stupid NBC is. They abuse “Community” by pulling it from the schedule even though they know the producers have already filmed Halloween-themed, Thanksgiving-themed, and Christmas-themed episodes, all of which will air over the next several weeks in the middle of late winter/early spring, never dreaming that with very little promotion, the show would pull a 1.9 against, of all things, The Big Bang Theory and American Idol !! “Smash” is promoted beyond belief in every possible venue and “Community”‘s ratings are 60 percent HIGHER.

  • martinesque

    @Anna ~ Haha, yeah that’s true sometimes. It does seem like EVERYONE is on Tumblr, when in reality, that’s not actually true. XD Sometimes, though, you can tell which shows (and movies) have become popular with young people when you look around Tumblr (i.e., Marvel movies, The Avengers, TVD, Supernatural, etc.). Even then, yeah — it’s not the best indicator of a show’s success, and yet it made me realize that shows like Elementary and PoI have a younger demographic out there who are tuning in. I mean, the debates/arguments over there concerning Elementary are something else…and sometimes unnecessary (i.e., Sherlock Holmes purists nitpicking everything & some criticizing JLM in comparison to Benedict Cumberbatch, etc.). Whatever to that. :P Anyway, the thing is I see the twenty and thirty-somethings talking about both CBS shows over there and at least I know I’m not alone in loving the show. :D

    “Lol, typical of you to try and boast about Person of Interest‘s total viewership. You know that does not matter at all.”

    It matters to the people who Peter mentioned as he said “people’s choice – viewers” not “advertisers choice – their money”.

  • Sarah

    Melissa, bless your heart.

    Community and Parks & Rec should be renewed by NBC! I hope they also renew The New Normal.

  • Oliver

    @Angel Trend

    I mean seriously how can you get a 2.0 and only have 4 million viewers? That doesn’t make any sense.
    Sure it does. They appeal to young people, with 2/3rds of their audience between 18-49. I find it strange that Parks has a better demo skew than Community, though (the Chevy Chase effect, perhaps?).

    I find it stranger that Elementary can get 10m+ viewers with only a quarter of them under 50.

  • askmelast79

    “Melissa, bless your heart.”

    LOL, so true! Obsession indeed. What a tool.

    How stupid of poor obsessed Melissa to think that POI fans even care about grays. POI will get renewed. Bank on it. #lovePOI

    I’m With You there Melissa!

  • JJF

    I think the idea that overall viewers doesn’t matter at all is just silly. And frankly, I’ve never seen it really demonstrated in evidence.

    Procedurals are older-skewing. It’s a fact of the industry. Most dramas on CBS are older-skewing. POI’s a solid hit that regularly pulls in great numbers. IDK how people can even debate it’s success.

    Besides, it doesn’t really matter how well Grey’s does at this point. Nobody’s denying it’s successful run or that most shows on the air won’t last that long. Why is it even an issue? I think comparing POI to Grey’s is silly.

    If you wanna use Grey’s as a comparison, how about all of these people celebrating Scandal as some smash hit? I think THAT is something more applicable to be compared to Grey’s. Scandal holds most of Grey’s numbers now, but those numbers are literally a fraction of what it once was. And yet Grey’s is in Season 9 and Scandal is in Season 2. Yet people tout Scandal as some big exploding show. It’s not there yet.

    POI’s a solid hit. It’s audience numbers are good and this season especially, it’s demos have been on the higher side for CBS in terms of drama. Considering how many aging shows CBS has and the fact that a lot of their other young shows are fairly weak, POI’s probably their most solid and reliable non-NCIS performer.

    Will it keep it’s timeslot? With CBS, you never know. But why not? Really, why not? They essentially will have the same number of comedies as they did last season, maybe less if ROE dies. They’d have to premiere 3 new comedies to fill another hour and I don’t think Thursday @ 9 is their best best. POI does well in the spot and should keep the spot. Elementary should be moved so a new drama can be launched there in the fall.

    Honestly, if CBS wants another hour of comedy, they should try for a Friday comedy hour. Demographics seem to be their biggest bane on Friday. The comedies tend to run higher demos. Put 2 of the lower rated ones on Friday for an hour and premiere new comedies behind established ones on Monday.

    @JFF,

    And frankly, I’ve never seen it really demonstrated in evidence.

    Too bad network’s don’t care about “people’s choice”, they care about “advertiser’s choice”. The people don’t pay them.

    @Sarah

    Melissa, bless your heart.

    You can be as sarcastic as you want, because those who use sarcasm have nothing better to say.

    As I’ve said, no one ever contested Person of Interest‘s chance at renewal. You obviously care about Grey’s Anatomy or you wouldn’t bother replying to my comments (with rather “beat-around-the-bush” responses). Person of Interest fans will get more respect if they reply with logical arguments, not condescending, ignorant comments. Oh, and this isn’t Twitter.

    @homeland

    I’m With You there Melissa!

    Thanks, Person of Interest fans like to ignore reality.

    @JJF

    I think the idea that overall viewers doesn’t matter at all is just silly. And frankly, I’ve never seen it really demonstrated in evidence.

    What’s silly is the fact that you’re contesting facts. For evidence, take a look at this article (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2009/12/12/faq-do-total-viewers-matter/36064/) published by TV by the Numbers, that verifies it. Also, check out any CBS show that was cancelled; most have a very high total viewership number, but a low adults 18–49 rating. Commenters who don’t understand the simple fact that total viewership is irrelevant are lost causes who don’t know what they’re talking about.

    @rob60990

    Tell them Melissa. :-D

    Glad to see there’s some people on this site who aren’t delusional.

    And yet, you continue to reply to my comments. Now, who is obsessed? You are. End of discussion.

  • askmelast79

    Oh yeah, GO POI!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • KrisR

    let me just state that Elementary did not air to well after 11 pm. So all of you that are cracking on its ratings after the super bowl should just stop where you are.

    And saying that community is doing great in the the ratings need to take a reality check. Elementary has just under 11m viewers where community only has under 4m. Big difference.

  • Melissa

    @askmelast79

    And yet, you continue to reply to my comments. Now, who is obsessed? You are. End of discussion.

    I never called you obsessed, you called me that. I’ll reply for as long as I desire, thanks.

    Soo…. Is PoI/Grey’s becoming the new Castle/H50 of bizarre comment war rivalries?
