    @Michael (2/10 at 3:24 AM):

    OY!!! You are TOO cruel; but you DO have a point! :-D
    ‘Idol’ used to pride themselves on being the unbeatable juggernaut, and they never hesitated to rub it in the faces of other TV shows. What is that sound you hear from them today? Crickets, perhaps?! They used to draw 20 million viewers in the 18-49 demo alone. Now they can’t even draw that many across the board, and they’re down to 7 or 8 million in the demo!

    If this show somehow got back to drawing over 20 million, week after week, going toe-to-toe with ‘NCIS’, I’d be the first to call them the ‘comeback kids’; but until then, with a draw that has sunk to as low as 13 million (and we probably have yet to see the bottom this season), anyone who still calls this show a “monster” needs to be committed.

    The final 10/12/13 had better give the viewers a reason to come back, or we will see 11 to 12 million in April. That will bring the show ever closer to its 1st-season average; at which point, as I have said before, the top brass should consider retiring the show.

    The show looks headed for a 16-million average viewership, maybe 16.5, probably not more than 17, putting it on pace to sink to its 1st-season average (12.7 million) by 2015.

    I WILL say, point-blank, that ‘Idol’ should be applauded for holding the top spot for 6 (or is it 7?) of its 12 seasons. But all good things come to an end. But we DO have at least one paradox at work. ‘NCIS’ is in its TENTH season, and its 10th season is on its way to being its best ever, and probably the number 1 program this year!

    @JC

    I understand exactly what Peter was saying. But he never insinuated, falsely or otherwise, that it matters that Person of Interest had more total viewers than Gray’s Anatomy other than the fact that they do. In fact, it was very clear in his comment that he understood the difference between the total amount of viewers and the 18-49 demo in terms of money for the network.

    You’re honestly a lost cause at this point, because I don’t know how you can be so oblivious to what Petar Ivanov was saying.

    can’t believe Big Bang beat American Idol

  • CookyMonzta

    @Bob: Neither can I; but I always thought, as far back as Idol’s 9th season, that NCIS would eventually beat them. But I didn’t think that NCIS viewership would go UP the way it has!

    Re Elementary…didn’t matter what show they put after Super Bowl. It started so late due to delays NO show would have picked up added viewers. Most people don’t stay up past 10 pm let alone after midnight to watch a show, especially of they’ve never seen it before. I feel bad for Elementary. Best show on tv.

    “You’re honestly a lost cause at this point, because I don’t know how you can be so oblivious to what Petar Ivanov was saying.”

    When someone falsely insinuates something, they don’t directly state something contrary to it. It’s just that simple.

    Are people still forgetting that Elementary didn’t start until AFTER 11:00PM following the SB? I feel as though the majority of people on this board are either ignoring this or don’t know it.

    This was my point above. How anyone can expect ANY show to do well at this time period, regardless of the Super Bowl lead in, is crazy. Most of my friends who stayed up for the game couldn’t wait to get to bed for work the next day. Many are people who DVR shows after 10 pm . Getting them to stay up past midnight for a show they never saw was not realistic.
