Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @Petar Ivanov RE: Upfronts

    Third week of May?

  • Petar Ivanov

    @MichaelChickless

    Thanks.

  • Billy

    The Big Bang Theory adjusted up to a 6.2 in the final ratings !

  • RandyL

    Finals?

  • Max Vrany

    @Maria, Nielsen changed how multiple DVR viewings count not too long ago. Multiple views used to only count once, now multiple views count multiple times.

  • CrimTV

    @JONNSYBRO

    TBH no offence but The Good Wife doesn’t deserve a final season, I mean it had a 1.5 on Sunday and yes it may win awards but it hasn’t got a syndication deal yet!

  • Maria

    @Max Vrany

    Thanks! :-)

    @POI

    “Elementary is a huge flop after the Superbowl episode i expected it to grow maybe even get a 3.0 but that time-slot was wasted by elementary if POI or TBBT and 2 broke girls were put there they would have gotten a much much better rating and gain more viewers this was CBS’s only mistake in year in my point of view.”

    If 2 Broke Girls or TBBT aired after the Super Bowl it probably wouldn’t have gained much BECAUSE they are already high in ratings as it is. If Elementary/Glee etc failed to earn new viewers after the Super Bowl then it doesn’t mean that higher rated ones will!!

    Also, shouldn’t NBC just air Revolution repeats at 10pm to get new viewers?

  • Derrick

    I didnt like scandal last night. Fitz’s was one of TV’s best Tragic heroes (good guy with one major flaw, cheating, that will lead to his down fall), but now that he killed Verna, thats over with.

    and what is up with the Revenge vs Scandal thing ???

  • Dan

    @Mando – Community’s characters dont have to graduate this season. The season is 13 episodes long. This season could cover the first half of the character’s senior year and a fifth season could cover the second half. Problem solved.

    The show was originally supposed to be called Community College however Dan Harmon argued against it because while the show’s premise is set at a college, he stated that the show was more about the characters forming their own Community and didn’t necessarily have to have them keep going to school should the series last beyond Season 4.

  • Afia

    Love Scandal! Keep it up!

  • Beauty and the flop eaten by the bear

    Beauty and the Flop down again LMAO. The Carrie Diaries beat it! And HOD is on par with this flop, without a good lead-in as TVD. Excited for more flopping and the cancellation of this pathetic show LOL.

  • Alex

    @jason #preach It’s sad because it’s 2013 not 1968, and people still can’t deal with race!lmbo u mad, haha!

  • Cara

    All the CBS shows did well!

  • vince

    did anyone notice that Arrow-Spn’s night beat TVD-TBATB’s night ? WOW!

  • JRG

    So, do you have any history on how post Superbowl shows have fared? Pre vs post ratings?

    Also, the Scandal and Revenge fans are the new crazies. TVBTN has got to be loving them.

  • jess

    glad to see tvd down. it’s terrible lately. this delena and sire bond crap needs to go.

  • Amanda

    What’s with some people going out of their way to bash BATB and its fans?

    Seriously, calling out it’s fans for not posting anything in regards to it in the middle of the afternoon as though us BATB fans don’t have work/school to tend to? It’s overwhelmingly weird. O_O

    Anyway, I’m sad for the numbers and next week it’s not going to be easy either with it being V-Day!

    But here’s to hoping!

  • Hugh

    Wow what a huge boost for Elementary, all thanks to the Superbowl!

    What a flop. They should have aired PoI post SB.

    Kimmel 1.0! Congrats
