    H50 is a skewing old show. I remember CBS talking about the median age for Elementary and it was younger than H50, so that show is better for cbs.And I bet that cheaper to produce.

    @ateofi.

    If the lead in is so important for total viewers according to your post, then the same thing should apply for demo numbers .
    In that case, H50 has the biggest demo lead in of any cbs 10 pm show, in which case the retention for demo numbers, the one that counts, is the worst for any cbs 10 pm show. H50 should be getting a stronger demo because the demo lead in is the strongest of the week.

    And using the same theory, Castle is performing way better than H50 because it gained viewers after The Bachelor and the retention of the demo after Bachelor is better than H50 after M&M.

    @Dina
    Agree. Syndication is why H50 is still on.

    Mia,
    I was replying to you about viewership. As for demo, lead-in must be compatible with the following show and M&M/H50 duo does not fit very well regarding 18-49 demo. POI/Elementary seems to be more fitting and still the second show is going down very fast for a drama in its first season. I guess Scandal going up has something to do with this.
    It also seems the H50 is skewing older, because last time it had 2.1 demo on 11/12/12, overall viewership was much lower – 7.96 million viewers now it’s 9.6 million – that’s a big difference. Also, let’s not forget situation with Revolution which was losing huge portion of demo from “The Voice” – even ca 1.3 and ca 4 million viewers.
    Finally, how do you explain Two and a half men at 8:30 pm losing 2.0 in demo and ca 5 million viewers from The big bang theory at 8.00 pm? Two sitcoms should be very compatible and yet the loss for TAHM is huge.
    Also, I agree Castle is performing better than H50 when you consider its lead-in. It has built very loyal fanbase over the years and I wish it had even better ratings.

    I’m not sure why everyone cries out for 90210 to be cancelled. It’s not like even if it gets renewed it would take the place of BatB, TCD or HoD.
    All midseason shows (apart from The Following) so far have bombed and especially the CW has never had any real luck with them. So instead of launching two midseason shows next year (if they keep the same pattern) it makes sense to renew 90210 for a short final season. Everything for that show is already in place (contracts, writers, actors, sets) and it wouldn’t need any promotion. So as long as it still makes money overseas and in DVD sales it makes sense to renew it instead of producing another show that will most likely bomb.

    damn it, tcd!

    @ateofi
    H50 needs to be compared with the rest of CBS dramas, and 2.5 man with the rest of CBS sitcoms,
    But anyway, , I don’t think 2.5 man is even half of what it used to be . The show is old and it has lost a lot since Charlie is gone. TBBT is the highest sitcom in TV, I doubt CBS will ever find another sitcom able to keep the numbers TBBT gets. Probably 2BG could get better numbers than 2.5 man after TBBT, but they need 2BG and HIMYM on Mondays to help the rest of their shows there.
    I keep reading M&M and H50 are not compatible, no sure why. POI is after a sitcom too and the show is stronger than last season, CM is after a Reality show.
    CBS tried that h50/NCIS LA crossover and it didn’t work well for h50. Guess they are no compatible either.
    I think that as long as a show is good, viewers will find it and watch it.

    I don’t wish other shows bad – well, okay, Idol can go where the sun doesn’t shine – but I’m glad that Carrie fell below HoD again, and will stay there for the week since the Bluebellers weren’t on.

    @TheNewPope – If you’ve never watched The Following, how do you know what it is? It’s far from “murder porn.” The Walking Dead? THAT’S murder porn. Every episode you have a bunch of hack-and-slash and/or gun play spattering gore across the screen and felling dozens of bodies. The Following is about the psychology behind murder and cultism.

    I’m a bit surprised 2 Broke Girls didn’t rate a little higher after SNL gave it about a 5-minute commercial during the opening skit last Saturday night.

    Mia,
    Agree with about TBBT, this is a beast and I highly doubt CBS will launch anything so huge again! As for PoI, it was a the only quasi successful new show introduced last year, but at the end of the season the ratings were too low. This season was strengthened by duo TBBT/ TAHM and it was shifted to 9 pm. This season CBS was rather unlucky with new shows, Made in Jersey was cancelled after one or two episodes, Partners were destroying monday night. Vegas is dead, Elementary is underperforming, it turns put that older shows do better than new ones, even those on sunday or Friday.
    As for H50, I still think it might work better on Tuesday after NCIS LA! Definitely it fits better there than Vegas, but until we see it we can only speculate. For sure it doesn’t fit well with sitcoms! Anyway , if the ratings keep going down than it will be shifted to one of death slots and season four will be the last one, which would be a shame. I reallly enjoy this cheesy action show.

    @crim: because batb has awful #s with a good leadin? What does it matter having more episodes than TCD if the show is so leadin drpendent? TCD is a self starter

  • 902FLOP0

    and lol @ tcd haters (aka batb fans plus some losers), wait and see batb tank to a 0.5 or 0.4 this week. 90210 what a flop maybe TSC fans were right and the show wouldnt be pullig 3′s

  • Overdamoon

    Would you look at that! CSI is getting a 2.1 rating this week ;) and has LOWER viewerships than H50! http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/02/14/tv-ratings-wednesday-american-idol-the-middle-csi-slide-arrow-up-survivor-premiere-returns-to-new-low/169407/

    The fact of the matter is all the 10pm dramas are in the same boat.

    @Ateofi, I don’t see how M&M and H50 can be compatible, or even 2BG. Of all the CBS sitcoms, 2.5 Men probably was most compatible with H50 but CBS destroyed their Monday lineup by swapping it with crap like Partners.
