Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @Richard Stevens Hack:

TCD premiered to a 0.6 so the fact that its stable gives it a chance of renewal.

  • cas

You know for as many articles as I read about The Following and all the good comments I see about it, I wonder why the ratings aren’t there. I mea I think people are clearly watching it, just not watching it live, which is what hurts shows these days. Not that I can say much because I don’t even remember the last time I watched a show live, but I always hate to see good shows get canceled.

    @Jacob Yates

Regardless of what happened with Arrested Development, TN is dead. The sets have been taken down, and by now they’re long gone. Nobody is going to revive a show when doing so means rebuilding those expensive sets. Unfortunately, the show was doomed the moment it premiered on broadcast television; who wants to see dinosaurs if you can’t watch them rip the heads of people?

I guess all on big 4 and TV studios are asking themselfs what is the next big wave? Sitcom wave is officially ended. Last 2 or 3 years sitcoms were the new big wave…what is next reality? Drama again? Western dramas like history miniseries? Miniseries may be@ If NBC new Eva Longoria sunday reality is good as The Bachelor may be reality but no talent/singing/dancing reality. Duck dynasty on A+E was really big.
    Expect big surprise next season.

Dillan: “TCD premiered to a 0.6 so the fact that its stable gives it a chance of renewal.

No – stability isn’t everything. For a first season show – even on the CW – to debut at .6, go down and then back up to a .6 merely means the show sucks out of the gate. If it had debuted at 1.0 or higher and then dropped to .6 over five episodes it might have been better – but not by much.

It’s doomed unless it can grow higher and stay there.

My blood is too iron poor for a decent bullet.

@who wants to see dinosaurs if you can’t watch them rip the heads of people?

As i said before weeks cable has real UNFAIR advantage to broadcast TV! Its illusion that cable shows are with better quality. But cable can use nasty scenes with intense, blood, horror, fear, sex etc. For example spartacus is real crap but because of the blood and nasty action scenes and naked girls people watch it. Script is below any broadcast show. Almost funny. GOT, TWD, SOA they all use these advantages and that is why they are so great. Well there are some really quality shows with outstanding actors like breaking bad, The borgias, mostly HBO, showtime shows. But USA, TNT shows are on broadcast level if not even below.

  • Tony ^_^

Yikes “The Following”! :o Though it’s safe as long as it doesn’t fall below a 2.0.

Maybe “The Carrie Diaries” will be renewed after all… If it is, the CW should cancel “90210”. With low ratings like that, that show is undeserving of a final season.

  • John A

@RSH ive seen you here pick at plenty of shows due to quality and Ratings and im a moran? Just because i dont like Nikita is it? Get overself.

  • Lisa

I am watching TF, and just can’t see anyway you can sustain the premise. I mean how many devotees can a serial killer have really? I get writing the guy letters, maybe even visiting him in prison, but killing for him? It becomes implausible really quickly, but about episode six actually.

Oh and glad Castle ticked up. :)

  • Dillan

    Richard Steven Hack:

I disagree. Hart of Dixie is a perfect example of a show that premiered low but stayed stable last year, hence why it got renewed. It’s also why TSC got cancelled last year and why BATB is looking likely to be cancelled this year.

  • Mon

Summer Glau played a 21-year old daughter last night on Hawaii Five-0. I know she’s too old to be 21. And not to my surprise, I just saw her real age is 31!

  • hoki

    What happend to HIMYM???

  • Alex

I give Deception props for going up against the big boys Castle and H50, it is competing and doing okay, NBC needs to move it and it will do better. It was a great episode Monday, people should watch and give it a chance.

    @ Rebecca

Glad you finally caught up to Downton Abbey. S01 I was kinda wavering as I was comparing it too much to “Gosford Park” (which JF penned) & others movies like A Room W/ A View & such. S02 I became so hooked & now liken it to UD & other TV mini-series in the same vein. Bummer it only has 7 or 8 eps per season.

  • Alison

Cancel 90210 and TCD and Keep HOD.

Feel sad for the Following, it’s really a good show.

  • dgg

Renew TCD! It is putting up a better fight than Batb, and without leadins! Same for HOD. They are scoring the same numbers Batb does without depending on TVD, that says it all. And LMAO I knew The Flopping would fail.

    @ Rebecca

S02 WW1 thread reminded me of another Masterpiece Classic: Danger UXB which detailed a bomb difuser (Like Jeremy R in “The Hurt Locker”) for WWII in England. If you can get access to this one, I strongly recommend it!

  • The Master

    Halfhours of The Following?

  • alan

so glad the following dropped…stupid poorly written show..so obvious where it is going…no way the cops and jailers would allow so much access to this nut..and he is so not dynamic enough to have a following. i watched the first 2 since i really like kevin bacon but it was painful…didnt watch last night and i am done.. everyone on here saying it is great tv…wow if you are shocked by this and cant see where it is going i will refute that folks are saying..its not that it is a smart show, it is a show ya gotta be kinda dumb to enjoy.
