ABC ANNOUNCES MIDSEASON SCHEDULING MOVES

Celebrity Wife Swap” Returns with All-New Episodes Beginning

Tuesday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m., and “The Taste” Moves to 9:00 p.m. That Same Night

 “Happy Endings” Moves to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. Starting March 29

 ABC announces midseason scheduling moves, with “Celebrity Wife Swap,” the reality series that shines a light on how controversial celebrities really live their lives, returning on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26 from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET with all-new episodes, and competitive cooking show “The Taste” moving back an hour to 9:00-10:00 p.m., starting that same night. Beginning FRIDAY, MARCH 29, critically acclaimed comedy “Happy Endings” will move to Friday nights, airing back-to-back original episodes from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.

Editors please note: The Friday night comedy block of “Last Man Standing” and “Malibu Country” will have aired their season finales prior to “Happy Endings” taking over that timeslot.

The February 26 season premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap” features the unlikeliest of moms swapping lives -- “Splash” contestant and Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and reality super mom Kate Gosselin of “Kate Plus Eight” fame. “Celebrity Wife Swap” follows mothers in two celebrity families with very different values as they swap lifestyles, children and homes (but not bedrooms), for one week and embark on a journey like no other. They’re given the chance to see how another celebrity raises their children and deals with life in the spotlight, while allowing both couples the opportunity to re-discover why they love each other and why they decided to get together in the first place.

    Now this is a proper burn-off.

    Makes sense, the new schedule is much more coherent and will get better ratings, if sad for HE.

    Might get shipped back to Wednesday if How To Live With Your Parents bombs.

    This was the right move as much as I like the show, it’s pulling ABC down Tuesday. So no more primetime nightline I guess

  • tv#1

    This is most likely a bad thing for the show. However, it if could rate the same on Fridays as it did on Tuesdays I think ABC would be happy with that. If it could stay above the 1.0 mark maybe they would consider renewing it.

  • M123

    Okay, does this basically mean cancellation?

  • Oliver

    @M123

    Yes, barring a cable pickup or a miracle.

  • Sam

    @M123

    Almost certainly. Unless HE surprises everyone and wins the night for ABC on a Friday consistently then it’s a goner. (Even still, if it does with the night consistently… it’s probably still gone).

  • Dave

    Rob06990 must be doing a happy dance.

  • Dave

    Hopefully this means ABC will be airing dramas again on Tuesdays this Fall?

  • Josh

    I’m hoping that moving it to Fridays will increase its ratings and help get the show renewed. Time will tell.

  • Kyle

    For a second I thought ABC was not going to air LMS and MC anymore but they would have aired all of their episodes!

    ABC should move Shark Tank back at 8 and then have HE at 9 to give it a virtual chance at success.

  • Dave

    @Kyle

    I thought the same about LMS AND MC too! :)

  • Jonay

    Does that mean happy endings will be renewed? ABC seems determine to keep HE on their schedule

  • Chuck

    When is Wipeout coming back??

  • Cory

    Where’s DWTS results if Wipe Swap is at 8 and Taste at 9?

    Chuck

    When either Red Widow or Zero Hour get pulled from the schedule.

    “Where’s DWTS results if Wipe Swap is at 8 and Taste at 9?”

    My guess is that The Taste is done by the time DWTS Results starts (March 26).

    It might still have a chance on Fridays; remember one of the co-producers is the same studio that made “Til’ Death”, and the other co-producer is in-house. Til’ Death had 81(?) eps by the end of it’s run, so if HE gets a full 4th season like the former show did, it will have a similar amount.

    So I could see HE getting renewed for syndie purposes, and stay on Fridays at 8:30/7:30c(but maybe not during sweeps), with MC canceled, and LMS renewed also for syndie purposes. Because let’s face it, despite being very different, no other show will work after LMS now.

    Tuesdays on ABC will see a boost, except why not just keep The Taste at 8 and put Wife Swap at 9(which was its’ time last year).

  • NoChance

    Kate is NOT a wife so why the heck is she on “Wife Swap”.

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

    “Chuck

    When either Red Widow or Zero Hour get pulled from the schedule.”

    I’d narrow that to Zero Hour. I can’t imagine Wipeout airing at 10pm Sunday.

  • Oliver

    It’s a bit weird that ABC has decided to move them to Friday rather than doing the obvious thing and airing it through summer.
