“Celebrity Wife Swap” Returns with All-New Episodes Beginning

Tuesday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m., and “The Taste” Moves to 9:00 p.m. That Same Night

“Happy Endings” Moves to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. Starting March 29

ABC announces midseason scheduling moves, with “Celebrity Wife Swap,” the reality series that shines a light on how controversial celebrities really live their lives, returning on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26 from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET with all-new episodes, and competitive cooking show “The Taste” moving back an hour to 9:00-10:00 p.m., starting that same night. Beginning FRIDAY, MARCH 29, critically acclaimed comedy “Happy Endings” will move to Friday nights, airing back-to-back original episodes from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.

Editors please note: The Friday night comedy block of “Last Man Standing” and “Malibu Country” will have aired their season finales prior to “Happy Endings” taking over that timeslot.

The February 26 season premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap” features the unlikeliest of moms swapping lives -- “Splash” contestant and Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and reality super mom Kate Gosselin of “Kate Plus Eight” fame. “Celebrity Wife Swap” follows mothers in two celebrity families with very different values as they swap lifestyles, children and homes (but not bedrooms), for one week and embark on a journey like no other. They’re given the chance to see how another celebrity raises their children and deals with life in the spotlight, while allowing both couples the opportunity to re-discover why they love each other and why they decided to get together in the first place.

That show will do worse than LMS and Malibu ever thought about doing on Friday at 8PM.

  • James

As it is now configured, Happy Endings will not give Shark Tank much of a lead-in on their schedule. Switching the two around would make more sense.

Wife Swap or The Taste will likely end before DWTS premieres. Wasn’t HE supposed to end by March to give way to DWTS

  • Dan S

Anyone who thinks HE has a chance on Fridays is delusional. They couldn’t have moved it to a worst slot short of going to Sat. I don’t know who makes the bigger boneheaded scheduling changes ABC or NBC.

  • Common Anomaly

    Wife Swap – Tuesday 8 PM – 02/26, 03/05, 03/12
    Splash – Tuesday 8 PM – 03/19

ABC ordered 13 episodes of Wife Swap. 9 leftover. Secret Millionaire also has 6 episodes left over from ABC’s 13 episode order from May 2011.

  • Common Anomaly

Correction – Wife Swap will have 10 episodes left.

  • DW

HE fans enjoy you show while it lasts.

Damn you ABC. Still not the end of the funniest show on TV. Keeping hope. Also a question wasn’t Happy Endings pulling decent numbers when it followed Modern Family? I still don’t get why it was moved when Suburgatory was doing fine in its originals spot.

    Makes sense both ways.

    1) Gets HE’s ratings damage off of Tuesdays.
    2) Something has got to give with ABC’s comedies. Something either has to be canceled or moved off of Wednesdays, and/or either ABC expands to 2 comedy hours on Fridays, and/or ABC gives LMS two more years (to reach syndication numbers). Getting some HE data points lets ABC know how well LMS/MC are doing in comparison (which is why HE is scheduled for 8 – they need the direct comparison).

(Disclaimer: HE is the only ABC comedy I even occasionally watch. But the only way I see it coming back is on cable.)

^ translation = effectively cancelled….Friday death slot, this smells like those Summer burnoffs of sitcoms that failed to make the regular season, shows that got its episode order cut, shows the network knew were doomed……as is this,

Syndication **WILL NOT** help this show…its too far away!, and cable…going by Cougar Town I would say no.

they should call it Celebrity D-List Wife Swap — Kendra & Kate what a joke & as NoChance says Kate isn’t even a Wife–but I guess if Bravo can get away with Real Housewives, where none of them are Real and most of them aren’t housewives, it jut goes to show the masses are really asses

  • John A

It will barly beat Nikita lol. Waste of time airing it all.

  • POI

I hate ABC now never going to watch a new shows they air if Happy Endings doesn’t get renewed

  • Buddy Glenn

This is still good news for HE. If the show stayed on Tuesdays, the show would definitely be cancelled by May or sooner. At least on Friday, there is still a chance. Plus, it’s still airing before ABC finalizes its fall schedule. Better ratings could help its outcome. If the show was moved to Saturday today, it will would have been a burn off of episodes.

Unlike LMS and MC, this show can’t survive on Fridays and make it.

Hopefully Damon Wayans, Jr. and Elisha Cuthbert are looking for other pilots right now.

  • David Howell

So if (I’m tempted to say “when”) Zero Hour (the jokes if that gets a 0.9 write themselves) gets pulled, Wipeout goes there, while if Red Widow gets pulled, that might be Nightline time?

Personally I’d be tempted to schedule Nightline permanently in the Thursday 8/7c slot (or perhaps have it timeshare with Wipeout).

I’m astounded ABC haven’t just gone with a Shark Tank/Nightline/2020 Friday. If LMS falls late in the season, perhaps next season they will!

  • herewego

    @Sutton 4 LIFE!
Maybe Damon Wayans, Jr. will be asked back on New Girl??? He was on the pilot and was supposed to be a part if HE was not renewed 2 years ago, if I remember correctly???

  • Oliver

    @David Howell

I’m astounded too, which is why I’m beginning to doubt my initial kneejerk reaction to this. This scheduling move seems tailor designed to keep HE on life support when the obvious option was to kill it entirely.

  • Sean

I really love HE! It’s one of the only comedies I watch on TV. Unfortunately it’s got as much of a fan base as Community does, which I love also. But seeing as these two shows are running on it’s last breath, I’m hoping for renewals, but I’m not too optimistic.

Bill, what do you think that is going to happen with “Mistresses”?
