Hey Fringers–did you see where Tom Tebow is giving a sppech to a right wing Baptist church in Dallas which is vehemently against all prgressive ideas. Tim is a nice guy–it’s too bad that he has to go to the these evangelical bastions of backwardness and speak–I’m sure he has plenty of money….

so I hear. what about the one in november?

  • Cathy

The future of the Democrat and Republican parties are always changing. Most people move from one party to the other. Just because one party is strong today doesn’t mean it will be strong tomorrow.
History is always our best guide. How many times has a party held the White House for more then 8 years? It is rare. It’s also rare for a president to only serve one term.

Yep, if the election was held today, Hilary would likely win. But a lot can happen in three years. If the Affordable Healthcare Plan causes the problems doctors and healthcare companies are saying it will. I don’t see a democrat winning the White House.

  • Coffee Steve

The one in November will be a comet, it is supposed to be brighter than the full moon, and it will be spectacular. There is another comet due in late march or April that is supposed to be bright but not as bright, and today an Asteroid will pass inside the Satellite ring at 2:25 pm EST.

Nice year for space junkies like myself.

I know a lot of you have been asking “Hows the housing market?” And some of you have been saying that it is getting better and boy oh boy Obama has it cookin! So here is a new one from FHA that is sure to help!!!!!

FHA Takes Steps to Bolster Capital Reserves

On Wednesday, the Federal Housing Administration announced a series of changes to strengthen the Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund and improve risk management. Most of the changes were outlined last fall in the wake of the FHA Actuarial Report showing the MMI Fund with a negative economic value. Among the changes, FHA will:

•Increase its annual mortgage insurance premium (MIP) for new mortgages for case numbers assigned on or after April 1: ?by 10 bp for all 15-year, and all 30-year less than $625,500 – what this means is on a 150k loan the payment would go up $12 per month.
?adds a new 45 bp annual premium for 15-year loans with LTVs less than 78% (previously, these loans had no annual MIP, now on a 150k loan a borrower would pay $56 per month)

•Require most FHA borrowers to continue paying annual premiums for the life of the loan, effective for case numbers assigned on or after June 3: ?loans with LTVs > 90%, MIP will be for the life of the loan
?loans with LTVs <= 90% MIP will remain in force for 11 years

This is the big change as it means most borrowers will never get out of paying the mortgage insurance which current drops off when the loan reaches a 78% LTV and they have been paying it for 5 years. Although statistically most borrowers are not in a mortgage more than 5- 7 years with rates at historic lows this time frame is expected to increase. On a 150k loan a borrower would pay $168 per month for mortgage insurance the entire life of the loan.

  • Ratboy

Oh and by the way, for those of you that dont know, the more the payment the more debt to income, the more debt to income the more people WILL NOT QUALIFY for the mortgage, that means a smaller buyer pool which then slow up the housing market!
    TA DA!!! More Obama magic!

MAKING AMERICA’S HEROES WAIT: Benefit claims backlog not our fault, VA officials say

Several days ago the Wash. Ex. had this article on our veterans .

For 20 years, the Democratic congressman from California heard promises from Department of Veterans Affairs officials they would fix the long backlog of disability claims, and their excuses when they failed.

Nothing much has changed since Filner’s rant, except he left Congress and was elected mayor of San Diego.

Breaking the backlog was a top priority of retired Army Gen. Eric Shinseki when he became VA secretary in 2009. He vowed every claim would be processed within 125 days with 98 percent accuracy by 2015.

In 2009, it took an average of 161 days for the VA to determine whether the veteran is entitled to monthly payments for service-connected injuries or medical conditions and, if so, how much.

The average today is 273 days. VA’s claimed accuracy rate is slightly better at 86 percent than it was in 2009.

The VA’s budget this year is $140 billion, an increase of more than 50 percent since 2008. There are more than 14,500 VA employees processing disability and pension claims this year, an increase of 3,200 since 2008.

I think it’s an insult to people to have to wait for years in order to get their benefits processed,” said Sanders, who said he will convene committee hearings on the issue next month.

As we saw in Benghazi, regional office managers who consistently fail to meet standards are far more likely to be transferred than fired.

VA officials refused repeated requests for a detailed interview.

My uncle(who lived across the street from us) was an administrator of one VA hospital. He would come home every night bragging about how many books he read at work. It isn’t just getting the benefits . It’s also the care of these veterans. Prosthetic limbs , & PT have come a long way , but, care of PTSD , has a long way to go .

They are repeating the same pattern that lead to the meltdown

Not really. Before the meltdown if you showed breath on a mirror they would give you a loan and they did the 80/20 loans to get around the PMI. but by doing this it affects the middle class (you know the group that Obama is protecting and building to a stronger class) more becaus first the payments of PMI being higher raiseds the payment costing more but more importantly drives more away from eligability. With an additional 150 bucks on the payment (and figuring 8 bucks a thousand for a house payment) it stops them from qualifying on the home because they now cant afford it based on debt to income ratios by the lenders. They have raised the eligability scores and now raised the pmi. But the kiker is that PMI went away at 20% equity but they are now saying it will NEVER go away!!

@ Coffee Steve @ratboy Benghazi smells like a big cover-up with the media’s help. Where are the survivors of Benghazi ?? Why doesn’t congress know who they are ?? Why haven’t we heard from them ? What was really going on at Benghazi simple question the media could investigate and try to find out. Of course Obama stated yesterday this is the most transparent administration ever , say it with a perfectly straight face. He either believes that’s crap or great liar.

@ Coffee Steve @ratboy Benghazi smells like a big cover-up with the media’s help.

Because if they reported the truth Iran-Contra would look like Kiddie Land. It seems all the background reports were leading to gun running program from Libya to the Syrian rebels was perhapes taking place. And our loving media could not have another Iran-Contra scandle could they?

DOE pushes staff to use Twitter, Facebook during work

    Watchdog News

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal employees at a major government agency are encouraged to use social media—such as Twitter and Facebook—during work hours and one staffer recently “tweeted” death threats to reporters who exposed an official’s exorbitant salary.

The shameful story comes from a group of independent journalists—known as Watchdog.org—that cover local government activity across the nation .A few months ago, the consortium published the findings of an investigation that revealed a government official’s salary at the DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado was an astounding $1 million dollars.

Their tweets were : “Have you ever felt like going on a murderous rampage?” & “ the reporters “deserve to die.”

It turns out that the DOE encourages employees to use government phones and computers to access personal social media accounts during work hours. In fact, the agency even has a written manual devoted to social media policies, detailing behavior, etiquette and government confidentiality issues that staff should follow when tweeting, posting on Facebook or blogging. (Obtained through the Freedom of Information Act)

American taxpayers are funding this nonsense.

    Mikey O

Totally agree . We all have a right to the truth , but, to ignore Congress’s request for the information is beyond belief. Have you seen the hard copy of the email sent from Benghazi on 9-11 which clearly blamed Al-Qaeda linked group Ansar al-Sharia for the attack on the US consulate?
