College Basketball was the top cable original Wednesday night, earning a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating. Moonshiners was the number two cable original with a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating down from last week's 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. Southland fifth season premiere drew a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, vs. a 0.6 rating in its mid-January, 2012 premiere, and a 0.7 rating in its 2011 premiere.
We only receive the top 100 cable shows for adults 25-54 for the whole day from our primary source, if you don't see your show it was not in that top 100 list.

Why people (such as @rob60990) smile and laugh like giddy school girls when shows drop a bit in the ratings, is beyond me. If you’re going to do it – at least do it at crappy comedies, or trashy reality shows. It makes you look stupid when you do it at quality, well-acted, thought-provoking shows like The Americans. I hope it grows in weeks to come and that more people give it a chance.

Bummer for Southland. Probably another season of talk about it being On the Bubble. But it was a crowded timeslot last night with The Americans, Nashville, Chicago Fire, CSI, Necessary Roughness and Hot in Cleveland. So I assume TNT will be looking at the Live + 3 numbers to see how it does.

Live audience. Audience overall not so much. Did you see the Live+3 for last week’s episode.
With a network like FX DVR does play a factor. Justified has bordered on 0.7-0.9 for 4 seasons.
Anger Management is hoovering around 0.5 and that has guarantee 90 episode order.
The Americans is a great show so far. I’m bummed that it has fallen to an 0.7 but IIRC that’s around what Justified, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men got in their first seasons, and they all grew in the ratings in successive seasons.
Max’s comment is baffling though, as usual. AHS has never been this low in the ratings. Sure, AHS is not half as good as The Americans quality-wise but if you want to say so, Max, then say so. Don’t hide behind ratings comparisons that make no freaking sense at all.

Southland premier LOST to Necessary Roughness; now that’s just pathetic even after you factor in basketball. This may be the last season. I’m not completely surprised though, last season was kinda crap creatively.
Swamp People marathon did ok, but still smoked by DD overall.
I didn’t even know Southland was returning but wow that’s bad. Castle reruns were doing better.

AM’s .5′s are irrelevant; that 90 episode order came because of its rating for episodes 1-10.
A cable drama in its 3rd and 4th seasons getting a .7-.9 is good. A cable drama dropping to .7 by its 3rd episode in season one is not so good, especially when it has yet to find its bottom.
Crowded Timeslot? All the shows at 10pm are getting weak ratings. I like Southland but matching repeats of Castle is embarrasing for TNT.
Live +7 ratings across all platforms are what matter now for ad supported networks. Pay services such as HBO, Showtime, NetFlix have the luxury of just focusing on the PR/buzz side being cool/popular and generating more subscriptions from that halo.
