Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Guess I’ll just hope it was a one-time ratings blip for valentine’s day, though this second episode of Community I didn’t even think was as good as last week’s, and certainly the most uneven of the 4 Halloween episodes.

  • Gillian

The sire bond plot has not done TVD any favours this season. The show just feels rather tired to me – I stopped watching live early in the season and now I don’t watch at all.

Apathy is a much bigger problem than not liking one side of the triangle or particularly SL’s.

Hoping that HoD will be renewed, though VD ratings aren’t really a fair comparison in the ‘HoD/TCD/BATB/Cult ‘death match’.

  • John A

I dont hate Revenge i watch it and think alot of Season 2 has been a mess. But the last ep was good and the next looks good. I just dont throw a hissey fit when someone says ‘hey Revenge ratings are crap when Scandal is rising. Calm down Fanboys.

  • Tihomir

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

I know I’m several pages late but thank you Bill for putting Petar Ivanov in his place, God so entitled and annoying.

  • Van

Glee, you lost to NBC having AI as a lead in

Look at your life, look at your choices.

Though I can still see Fox dragging Glee’s bloated corpse through a 5th and even 6th season.

    Right on Elementary. finally stabilized.

    WOOOO! low 2.0s!!

  • Van

    @Bill Gorman

Did Grey’s build up on its second half hour?

  • Mark

I have loved the past seasons of Americal Idol. But I will not watch one clip this year because the ghetto tramp Vicki Whatever is a judge. Get her off and I, and millions more, will return

  • Aquaroyale

The Mentalist should be moved back to Thursday.

  • Xerophytes

    People love Scandal.

Scandal will stay there. Definitely. Did not even drop compared to last week. Grey’s will expire soon.

  • samurai99

    @Toadytoady

“Maybe networks dont make their decisions based on overnight ratings alone.”

Yeah, but it’s impossible to predict what those other changes are. Unless your on premium cable like Girls or Game of Thrones, online viewing numbers are going to be insignificant.

  • mow

It called (LITV) low intelligence TV for a reason. Nothing on TV is original, creative or intelligent. Loony Tunes is about as good as it gets. Do yourself a big favor, turn off the boob tube and go for a walk. Better yet, unplug the idiot box and throw it out a window.

  • Sarah

I feel like I should give Scandal another chance. I watched the first few episodes of the first season and wasn’t impressed, but I’m only hearing good things about it now.

  • Xerophytes

Fox’s 9PM is a death sentence. The dreadful ratings of Glee will only be tolerable if the song merchandise is able to keep up with the cost. Otherwise, Fox will end up moving Glee to Friday, following Fringe and Touch.

  • Tim

Not to defend Revenge but, when the show got low ratings due to the Grammys and Football everyone was saying, Ohhh Revengers are gonna blame the Grammys of the ratings

But now, those people: say that their shows got low ratings because of Valentine’s Day!

    Jajajajajajajaja
