Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    I love how the talk is now NOT that SCANDAL is easily defeating REVENGE but could potentially defeat GREYS ANATOMY. Wow, how the mighty have fallen and how the underdog is reigning supreme.

  • HalCapone

    American Idol no longer water cooler buzz show but now unemployment line chatter.

  • Tom

    Again, Community’s audience shows up for premieres and returns. They aren’t guaranteed to show up the rest of the time however. I assume it ticks back up with Valentine’s (and an ill-timed Halloween episode) out of the way, but I can’t see it coming back next year.

    Zero Hour about as stillborn as we thought. The real question is what level this hits before ABC pulls the plug. 0.9? 0.8?

    Glee might be more susceptible to VD than most, but I wouldn’t bet a single penny on it airing a Season 6. (5, absolutely. 6, no.)

    Scandal higher than Grey’s. Wow. It could just be people getting home in time to watch the latter but not the former, but who would have predicted this a year ago?

  • Freyja

    Where are all the BEASTLY #Beasties now?

    Shhh don’t encourage them ;)

    So SPN and VD tied this week with SPN pulling ahead in viewers, very nice job SPN =)

  • Carl

    I just meant total viewers (only by a fraction). They’re the same in the demo, unless TVD adjusts up. I’m just used to TVD being .3 or .4 points higher most weeks. Maybe the last few weeks have been bad luck.

  • Ram510

    @TomZ

    Community just was over a 2.0 last spring when it returned from hiatus. So yes it had been over a 2.0 at 8

  • Billy

    So much for all the Community excitement last week. Another couple of weeks like this and it will be goodbye Community.

    I agree that Valentine’s Day may have hurt it and it went up against TBBT and Idol, but to lose almost half your audience in one week is really bad.

  • TCD & HOD > BATB

    Batb lovers: What’s your next Fan Excuse Bingo move? Since the PCAs excuse is clearly not working LMAO.

  • Rebecca

    Hulu wouldn’t load last night’s Community episode when I tried today. Same thing happened last week with that week’s episode. Maybe NBC is doing that on purpose so we have to go stream it on their site, if they’re monitoring views. Anyway, that’s where I’m watching it right now. Enjoyed TBBT last night and will stream Office later but saw bits of it last night. Someone finally mentioned Michael Scott, which was nice – Pam interviewing for a job with a guy who acted just like him (Bob Odenkirk, great job). Still have to watch Parks, too. Zero Hour seems DOA but see how it does next week when it’s not Valentine’s Day. Same goes for all the other shows that were low last night.

    AcE – so, Arrow beats TVD once, on Valentines day I might add, and TVD beats Arrow every other week, and that makes Arrow the number one show on the CW? Erm… No. It’s based on averages, and right now TVD’s average is still way above Arrows. Arrow beating it once doesn’t change anything, sorry. You keep coming on here and making these TVD vs Arrow posts – why? What’s the point? TVD is still the number 1 show but Arrow is doing fantastic, I don’t see why you feel the need to comment every week with ‘Arrow most watched show on CW’ type posts. Both TVD and Arrow are doing well, what does it matter which show is the number 1? I’m only commenting on it now because your statement is wrong, Arrow is not the number 1 show on the CW. It will need to beat TVD another, what, 13, 14 times before it gets that crown. And TVD may adjust today. Arrow was the number 1 show on The CW this week (if TVD does not adjust). It’s not overall the number 1 show, that’s still TVD. Also, disclaimer – I watch and enjoy both shows. I’m only commenting because that statement is wrong, and you seem to comment every week trying to stir up a TVD vs Arrow war.

    Great POI last night…..Zoe and Root. Zoe and Reese having a drink and a quiet night on a suite. Lol

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Holly
    Well thanks. Just like the site and want people to come and read or commeant here not on supid other sites. This site(for ratings, renew/cancel index and good analisis/comments) and deadline(exlusive news) are the best by far with miles. But when the site is close people will go on other places. And the time is worst possible exactly before ratings news. If problems were 3-4 am will be betetr not when all traffic is here.

    I still think Community’s a bubble show. Let’s see where it stabilizes at in two or three weeks. The past two weeks have been a real anomaly; the fact that it was a Halloween episode couldn’t have helped the show.

    Still sucks, but knowing the context gives me a smidgen of hope.

    “What happen to the site people……spoiler futon criric and others benefit from this mistake. Second time on fridays you have problems – solve them please.”

    Uncountable number of times you post complete nonsense.

    Of course it’s futile for anyone to expect you to “solve” that.

  • juliedawn

    @TCD & HOD > BATB

    Well we’re certainly not going to start gloating at the misfortune of any other shows, as you are doing.

  • Aron

    Glee never dropped below a 2 when it was anchoring Tuesday night, this was a scheduling test by fox next season glee will be moved from behind AI, better off on, glee and American idol don’t share that much of an audience

  • senor chang

    @Bill

    Considering that English isn’t Peter’s first language (I think?) that’s kinda harsh of you.

  • Jt

    Max
    It may not but on the other hand it could.

  • Sarah

    Sorry, and I know that the majority of everything was down last night, but I’m happy that Glee fell and by that much.

  • JJ

    Zero Hour was predictably weak. I doubt anybody seriously thought it’d succeed. I think Red Widow has always been the wildcard for success. It’s gotten mixed reviews and I could see it becoming either a flop or the modest midseason performer that secures a second season. I’m leaning more towards the former merely due to the decline of Sunday Night performances in general, but I suspect if Red Widow can manage to do just a little bit better than Nashville on a weekly basis, it’ll get the renewal.

    Scandal is doing about even with Grey’s, which I suppose shows how much Grey’s has aged. Scandal is doing very decently. Although I think it’s defender overhype it’s performance. While it can certainly grow, right now, it’s mainly a comparative hit for a failing network.

    And still strong for POI.
