Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    OMG SCANDAL IS THE NUMBER ONE DRAMA ON ABC!

    AMERICA FINALLY GIVING THIS SHOW THE FANTASTIC RATINGS IT DESERVES.

    I JUST REMEMBER WHEN THE REVENFLOP FANS WERE MOCKING SCANDAL FANS JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO… WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.

    KARMA IS A B—-.

    NOW IF YOU IMAGINE THAT REVENFLOP RATINGS WILL MAGICALLY DOUBLE THE SHOW WILL BE ABLE TO COMPETE WITH SCANDAL… LOL

    HOW SAD IS THAT?

    WHEN IS THE EMILY THORNE FUNERAL??? I’M SURE OLIVIA POPE WILL SEND FLOWERS.

    KISSES.

  • Win

    Actually I think Arrow has consistently beaten TVD in total viewers this year. While in the Demo, TVD has always reigned supreme.

  • Melanie

    Holy crap — did Supernatural just tie in the demo and actually beat TVD in viewers? Wow – that has to be a first for that. TVD will probably adjust up, but still . . . holy crap.

  • Darcy

    Last year Glee aired on Valentine’s Day and dropped .5 in the key demo and lost 820,000 viewers from the week before. They made up the loss in the DVR+7.

    This year Glee aired on Valentine’s Day and dropped .5 in the key demo preliminary numbers and lost 987,000 viewers from the week before. Usually Glee does quite well in C3 and also the DVR+7 so I hope they can make up all of it again as they did last year.

    And I know those DVR+7 numbers don’t count but at least it will show that Glee is not really losing all those viewers and key demo and that they really need to not air the show on Valentine’s Day or Thanksgiving for that matter. FOX really should probably pick a different day to air it because this day and timeslot is not working.

  • ars041

    You people obviously don’t realize that it was valentine’s day and ratings were down because of that. That is way arrow beat tvd this week. That is why Idol and glee were down considerably. So those ratings really are irrelevant

    Revenger
    I do think 90210 but it would not shock me if it was a summer run.

  • TomZ

    @Ram510

    Yes but that was the only time, and the show had returned after a three-month hiatus so it was obvious that it grew.

    Anyway is a good show, I still don’t understand why people watch the big bang theory instead… well I guess this is going to be the last season… I want to see how another show will do against the big bang theory and American Idol. But I can bet that next year American Idol will draw much less than this year (3.0 or something like that).
    NBC’s Thursday comedy block is over, what will NBC do next year with the schedule?

  • rob60990

    LOL at the Arrow fans gloating at beating TVD by a whole tenth when TVD aired on Valentine’s Day. Besides, there’s a chance TVD can adjust up a tenth in the finals. Arrow has already fallen below a 1.0 this season, and it’s only the show’s first season. TVD has never fallen below a 1.0.

    Revenge is not a flop.

  • Jenny

    Good for Scandal remaining steady and beating Grey’s. Hope it stays steady.

  • CommunityFan

    @Bill

    Give it to me straight, Bill. What are Community’s chances of getting renewed after last night?

  • Shepherd

    Let’s see…

    AI down big time.
    Glee down big as well.
    Arrow beats TVD.
    POI beats Grey’s (which is also down big).
    BaTB slides a bit. The show should be canceled on concept alone.
    Scandal was steady, beating Grey’s as well.
    Elementary was steady.
    POI was pretty steady too.

    Can the day’s rating get any better? :)

    I think these ratings lend credibility to my theory that mostly only women care about this ‘holiday’ called Valentines day.

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Bill Gorman

    Ok my be my bad. That was not a critic. As i said tvbtn is my favorite site and want people including me to come here to read and comment. Not only because the ratings but analisis and comments from you and people like eridapo, holly, tommy m, even ultima and others which i like to read and argue etc. That was my point not critic.

  • Anon

    Ah, the Valentine’s Day Excuse… a.k.a. “the fans of our show were getting laid last night”

  • silvit

    @Joel
    Scandal is so stupid it’s hard not to watch. for instance when Olivia is alone with the president and has sex. totally would never happen. the president is never alone outside the white house ever.
    Let alone everyone in the show should be in jail for committing every crime in the book. Also the best was the president getting shot in the head and he is fine a few episodes later. I guess if leave you’re logic at the door it’s a great show.

    Have you ever watched Grey’s Anatomy? That’s the bread and butter of Shonda Rimes stuff. Soapy,sappy, melodramatic stuff. Not certainly realistic. She made one of her characters have sex with a ghost. A ghost!!! And when she had cancer, one of the most mortal one, which by the way was at stage 4,she miraculously healed from it. The alternative universes on Fringe are more realistic than a Shonda Rimes show.

  • Diego

    I think ABC should put Grey´s at 8pm, a new drama at 9pm and Scandal at 10pm.

  • Brandy

    Ace, it was Valentines Day so a lot of people weren’t watching thier regular programs and ratings were down with almost all shows this week or the last couple of days.VD may adjust up and tie Arrow in demo.If it dosent, then this is so far the first & only time Arrow has beaten VD.VD will Likley and hopefully rise next week.VD is still CWs #1 show in demo where it matters except this week.I think Arrow & VD have tied in demo before.Its one week.

  • Carl

    @Michael, I wasn’t gloating as much as I was surprised. I fully expect TVD to be .3 or .4 ahead of SPN next week, as it usually will be. I guess Valentine’s just takes a chunk out of the show.

  • gg

    what will max and his multiple identities do when Revenge goes up from a 1.4 this sunday?

  • Win

    @Tom

    Exactly. Whenever those monsters get a chance, they tell you their show is golden. But now when it’s fallen again, they are quiet, or shouting it’s because of valentines day.

    I have seen the show, several times. It’s not the issue. It’s the fans who seem to think that this show is untouchable because of a PCA win. Which they probably pulled a Hollis Doyle to win anyway.

    I shall call them, #Floppies.
