Monday episodes were night after SB – who said the SB doesn’t lift a network? It happened in primetime and daytime (I think TT hit records as well). The demise of soaps has been exaggerated. Maybe the problem was that there were too many of them? We’ll see if AMC/OLTL gain traction online.
CBS soaps are doing very well. Impressed with Y&R demo incresaes. It’s been a long time since it got a 1.5. Over 5 million viewers on Monday. The Young And The Restless is the best it’s been in years.

So proud of Y&R and B&B. Great start to February sweeps…one of the biggies for the advertisers. #1 and #2 in every category. That 1.5 for Y&R in 18-49 is so impressive. Been a long time.
It’s impressive too since a year ago the show (Y and R) was actually still pulling in some good ratings. After February last year it dipped below a 3.0 even.
I hope it continues its upward trend.
The writing is so much better!
Y&R is actually getting better because they are now focusing on the younger stars, which is why its called the Young & the Restless- not the old and broke down LOL.

But I don’t get it. Y&R is even with 2012; at 2011 they were at 5.12M and 18 to 49 demos were higher. At this point in 2012, they had a couple of weeks of over 5m viewers. GH is back around 2011 #s; shouldn’t that be the measurement for all of the soaps? That they are better or as good as a year or two prior?
Sorry but I can’t help but look at the big picture.
@LynTX–They are being measured compared to last year and a week ago. If they are gonna post these along with other ratings they don’t have time to go back more than a year. It’s archived so feel free.
Yeh think y&r has found its place again.good storylines are happening and I can already see sharing lot of screen time with Sharon and Dylan.and not really hoping they make Kay a weak going out of her mind storyline.she has a been a rock on the show for so long.and would like to see her and niki going over the sickness that niki will be facing.also liking the pairing of jack and phyllis again.and hopefully get Alex and adrianna out of her.and still looking for Kevin and chloe to leave gc.and with carmine and Lauren. What’s up with that ?Michael better watch out.
CBS soaps are just too boring for me, GH is pretty amazing, only thing worth watching in daytime right now!!
Y&R is better but there is still a lot of unnecessary c..p! Several characters and certain stories need to ship the h..l out!

Everyone I know watches Days and GH… The weird hold the CBS shows in the RATINGS is a SCAM

I can see some of what you are saying, but the big thing with Y&R is that it has stopped the bleeding it was doing. Also it is doing something that is important….it is getting the demos up. Remember just a few months and weeks ago GH had fully ensconced itself as the #1 in 18-34 and threatening.
Y&R has gone up. Brought B&B back up in that demo too. Now they are setting #1 and #2 this week. Last week they were #1 but B&B was tied for #2.
That is impressive to me.
I always laugh whenever someone says “everybody I know watches/doesn’t watch” this or that show. This is a nation of roughly 315 million people. How many people out of 315 does the average person actually know…in person, not just on Facebook.
There are many, many shows that I don’t watch, yet I don’t go around claiming that somehow the ratings are fixed or a scam. The networks pay good money for the ratings to be tabulated, so they are far from fixed…besides, Nielsen has been reporting the ratings for decades. I don’t watch “American Idol”, and I don’t know anyone who does, yet there it is every week at the top of the primetime Nielsen charts. The ratings, they are fixed, I tell ya! Fixed!!
