Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Revenge need moving back to Wednesday or Thursday. is the best for the show!

  • The End

    @Cory

    From memory, The Amazing Race has had its fair share of victories in the past yes. And in answer to your other question, the show is in no danger at all of cancelation and is renewed for 2 seasons at a time, with the next season due to go into production in the coming months for a fall premiere like usual.

  • tahina

    TGW a great show but lots competition and awful time slot. :[

  • jT

    Once upon a time will bounce back

  • Cory

    Yeah, I remember it winning its time slot once in a while, but I can’t ever remember it tying for the number 1 rating of the night. It’d always get beaten by Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, etc. Hopefully it doesn’t get too crushed by the Oscars next week, but if the past is any indication, it will drop to 1.8-1.9

    As for the Revenge hoopla, I just watched the episode, and it was pretty good. I try not to get involved in the Revenge vs. Scandal nonsense. The fact is that ABC cannot be happy with the numbers their 2 Sunday “hits” are getting (I’ll watch OUAT later tonight), and they have no one but themselves to blame. Counter-programming to January/February events worked fine in the past, but in the DVR/online era, people are going to watch the big events and watch their shows later (or in the worst case, not catch up and then drop the show since serialized shows are susceptible to this). Sure Walking Dead hit a series high against the Grammy’s, but the fact is that AMC is really smart with scheduling that show, as you always know when it’s on or coming back, and it runs consecutively when it’s on.

    ABC really needs to learn from their mistakes and schedule split seasons of at least their Sunday shows, with 11 in the fall, and 11 in the spring starting the Sunday after the Oscars. I can’t remember what the fall finales of both garnered the first week of December (I’m going to guess maybe 3.0/2.4 or something?), but its feasible to think that maybe they’d be able to be around those numbers when they returned. I think it’d also give Red Widow a boost. If Revenge/OUAT hadn’t been on since the middle of December, they could hype it up as another season premiere Sunday instead of just another doomed show premiere (I realize Red Widow premiere is 2 hours, but it would be cut to 1 in this scenario). And let’s face it: Expecting Red Widow to outperform 666 Park or GCB in its premiere is unlikely.

    End rant. I watch Amazing Race, Revenge, OUAT, and Walking Dead all from Sunday night, but often don’t get to some of them until Wednesday or Thursday (except Race which gets watched live).

    @BigBrotherFan

    Why are you ALWAYS so ANGRY and capitalizing EVERY other WORD? It gets old…

    If you don’t like it, don’t watch. And while I don’t usually discuss content of the shows I watch as this is a ratings website, let me make an exception: while I didn’t want Amanda to die either, her death makes sense on multiple levels:

    – it will bring Jack and Emily closer together, creating a Jack/Emily/Aiden love triangle (though I don’t know what they do with Daniel at this point)
    – it will bring Emily and Charlotte closer together and Charlotte will be one step closer to knowing the whole truth
    – it redeemed the character; she died a hero, protecting both Emily and Jack

    – she was killed by Nate Ryan who was sent by Conrad
    – she was to be used as a sacrificial lamb by the Graysons for the murder of Helen Crawley, and you better believe Emily is going to find that out sooner rather than later

    The final two reasons I listed are the most important ones; they will instigate Emily’s fury with the Graysons and bring the show back to its original concept, which is what people have been whining about for months! Not to mention that with Amanda gone, the Initiative story is almost over. They just need to tie up the Padma element of that story and away it goes. Frankly, I hope they do it within the first 15 minutes of the next episode, but even if it does go on until the end of the season, it will be nothing but a minor storyline since the Initiative is no longer after the Graysons and “Amanda Clarke” is dead.

    Oh and the ridiculous Stowaway plot is now also finished, unless the other Ryan brother decides to avenge his brother’s death, but I don’t think they’ll go there.

    Not a big deal, Every network got killed again on Sunday again, for no reason.
    Things will bounce back a little bit for every show.

  • Masterbreel

    None of the networks had a particular good night, however it is still not good for Revenge. Maybe shady scheduling and scheduling opposite great events have not worked out after al. Getting up againt TWD isnt easy also, battle between the men and the women out there is a though one.

  • joel

    I’m digging the mayhem and body count on Revenge. Such an incredible coincidence that the patsy to be taken down for the murder of Helen has somehow already been taken down. Saves us and the initiative some time and effort.

    @SJ,
    No Aiden/Padma/Nolan triangle first? Daniel still has Ashley to gravitate towards.

  • SJ

    @joel

    No Aiden/Padma/Nolan triangle first?

    Oh god, I hope not. I just want Padma to be written out. Aiden I actually like (and am kind of rooting for).

  • Bee

    all this talk of season orders and timeslots and cancellations is so premature. when things have had enough time to go back to normal (let’s say sometime in april maybe?), then it’ll make sense to discuss all that.

  • thesnowleopard

    Ouch at ABC. At least Zero Hour had the excuse of being a repeat, but even so.

  • Barbie

    @Petar Ivanov

    “CBS should change all sunday shows. Its their worst day and looks like friday ratings now.”

    Which makes me feel really hopeful for CSI:NY <3

  • Layton

    @SJ I think a reduced season is possible. Right now I lean to a full 22 order for it. @TheEnd I think Cora had to sneak around because her goal was to get the knife. If Rumple saw her doing that then he would have confronted her. She had to wait until he left. Hook wasn’t really sneaking around. He did try to go after Hook, but just got captured.

  • Jonathan

    So how long will it be before Bob’s Burgers tops the Simpsons?

  • Chris.2.0

    Sticking Revenge on Sunday was a bad idea. Hopefully it moves back to Tuesday/Wednesday. Glad to see numbers are up, but they are taking another break YET AGAIN. Last night episode really pissed me off. Aiden still alive, and Amanda died. Pretty much done with the show unless Aiden goes…

    =.=

  • Scandalfan

    It is too late for Revenge, it is not going to recover. It’s always going to be in the 1’s at best 2.0. The writers drove some folks away and they’re not coming back. I used to watch Revenge and recorded TWD (The Walking Dead) but now I just watch TWD live and record revenge.

    Yes it is true that Max had predicted those ratings even when Revenge ratings were high and i’m so sad to see that he was right.

  • zodd

    Looks like OUAT viewers finally realized that the show sucks.

  • Remus2000

    I am a big fan of both Revenge and Scandal but come on Revenge March really for a new episode

  • Remus2000

    How do expect people to watch when every new episode it’s says a new Revenge in weeks
