This is a special "short week" holiday edition of the ABC Index, having been written the evening of Friday, February 15 with ratings through only February 14.
That thud you heard on Thursday night was the 1.4 adults 18-49 rating for the premiere of Zero Hour, the Cancellation Bear's latest meal in ABC's Thursday 8pm timeslot. Enjoy it while you can, it's certain to be canceled.
Happy Endings has been downgraded to certain to be canceled. It didn't make the headline this week, but there's always next week!
Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.
From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.
Notes:
-
- certain to be cancelled by May, 2013 -
- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013 -
- toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013 -
- more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013 -
- certain to be renewed by May, 2013
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

How can you expect it to be cancelled after airing 1 episode??
As long as I dont see Revenge, Scandal or Grey’s with less than 4 faces, I’m happy.
@Sherri
Record low premiere ratings for ABC, plus clickbait.

Hey, Cancellation Bear! If this were Soviet Russia, would Zero Hour be eating you?
I’d say shame on America for rejecting another quality effort in the genre, but unfortunately, the prerequisite of Zero Hour actually being good was not met. I won’t much miss it, and I think America was right this time.
That said, it does have some So Bad It’s Good potential.
OH, and just for the record, SHIELD should be considered dead before arrival, unless ABC proves that they actually care enough about it A) make it good, and B) slot it anywhere but Thursdays @ 8.
Does anyone else think that ABC should take a risk and plug SHIELD into the Thursday at 8pm spot? It seems like the only pilot with enough built-in interest to survive.
Just glad OUAT’s still in the green range with all the drops
I’ll take “Things that are completely obvious” for 200, Alex…
Malibu Country anagram – count my burial
Zero Hours is a mess. I kept checking to see if I was watching TNT instead of NBC. I can’t believe that pilot made it to air on prime time network TV (even if it is NBC).
That’s too bad for Zero Hour. The show has potential but doesn’t mesh all that well with the soapy dramas on ABC.
Of course Revenge will be renewed! For a Sunday night time slot that show is pure gold ratings! It is so good!
Zero Hour had zero chance of making it, so the bear is extremely happy
HE will definitely be his dessert
@9Blu: its ABC not NBC…
@ Sherri – even if ZH were to grow out of its premiere (which almost never happens) it would still have to grow enough to outgrow multiple shows with stronger ratings than itself. no way.

@Skylar James You’re right, my bad. Guess my brain can’t accept anyone but NBC being crazy enough to put this on the air
I believe Bad Management and Pulling are the same.
