    When is Grimm coming back?

    8 March

    In the end, MC will be axed in favor of LMS. While they are both consistent and have a fan base that never misses an episode, LMS has better ratings overall, and is a self-starter on a Friday night. If MC were to be moved, it would probably experience a drop in ratings (.9-1.0).

    @chris23

    If Abc was willing to let go of Cougar Town then they will do the same for Happy Endings which is doing way more horribly than CT ever did.

    What? Are you kidding me?! Cougar Town was in the exact same 1.0-1.4 range for most of its third season, it’s just that ABC’s schedule was packed and they didn’t have anywhere to move it. Happy Endings doesn’t have that luxury.

    I don’t see Happy Endings doing decent at all on Friday. The audience it targets are not home on a Friday night plus I’m sure ABC won’t even bother to advertise the move.

  • Tom

    @SJ, that isn’t completely true. With the exception of three episodes that got a 1.3 and 2 1.4′s, Cougar Town’s first 11 episodes of season 3 consistently scored a 1.5 rating or higher. It only dropped like a brick for its last 3 airings that aired in late May.

    That 1.2 that CSI: NY sucks. It’s been stable this winter at 1.5-1.6 after a pretty weak fall at 1.2-1.4 caused by the 8pm timeslot and the switcheroo. I really think the 1.2 it got last Friday was just a fluke, a result of bad scheduling, just like CSI’s 1.9. Both shows will bounce back this week.

    My ? is what if Shark Tank was a LEAD IN for TGIF comedies – could work better. I really like the shows and want them to be back, but I think that being on at 7pm and on Fridays is just poor decision by ABC but what do you expect from the Alphabet Network

  • Nick

    They’re missing a huge opportunity not moving this comedy hour to 8pm on Tuesdays. It would more than like do better than The Taste, especially now before The Voice returns.

  • Stan T.

    The problem for LMS, whenever Tim is on shows like Ellen Degeneres, the hosts talk about everything but LMS….the whole reason for him to be there is to promote the show, not just get the hosts ratings…

  • s0303

    i miss grimm…

  • Matt

    MC and LMS do GREAT for abc Fridays. Especially in viewers! Yeah, they do have dips and dives every then an now, but they do rank in the top 3 scripted shows in the night hough

  • Nick

    @Matt

    but they do rank in the top 3 scripted shows in the night hough

    That’s not an accomplishment when there are only 5 scripted shows.

  • Marc

    ABC is tanking on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the 8-9PM hour. And Fridays is one of the few nights they win these days. They are behind CBS, NBC, and FOX for the year in the demo. It’s probably wishful thinking to believe that they could find a show on Friday night that will top MC’s 1.2 (which could still have longterm upside if a fuller TGIF is established).

    I think ABC has so many other problems, that changing up Fridays (again, except to do a 2 hour comedy block) is the least of their concern. At least Tim Allen and Reba have a fan base that will always watch. Pretty much every mid-season replacement show has been DOA for every network, so it’s unlikely they will rish losing a 1.2 on a Friday and get stuck with a .8 instead

    NBC should learn something from ABC in that it should rebuild from weekends out. Fridays and Saturdays while lower nights in general, it is easier to win the night with better original programing. Instead of airing Dateline/rock center to fill the night, they should put all original programing in. CBS took advantage of the opening of 10 PM for blue bloods, which NBC could’ve owned it prior with SVU.

    NBC should convince the NFl to move SNF to Saturdays as it would be number one everytime. Even if people are out at night, bars would carry the big game. That ratio versus the lower overall numbers for a Saturday night would still prove good for NBC.

    Finally, after being first in fri and saturday NBC could then build Sunday night easily by advertising the nights shows during the prior two nights. This is the only way NBC will make any traction.

    “I think ABC will see how Happy Endings does on Fridays before making a call on Malibu.”

    In that case I hope Happy Endings does 0s.

  • Will

    Keep Malibu. Test the comedy block post-Shark Tank.

    While pairing 2 veteran sitcom stars in Tim and Reba looked good on paper, in reality Tim’s show is male, and Reba’s female. Thus, not totally surprising MC isn’t holding the full LMS lead-in. Though at a consistent 85-90% hold, MC is doing its job.

    No, no, no no, STOP MOVING shows around, thats death to ANY show! People are so impatient nowadays that if something doesnt work in the first 2 episodes its garbage, nothing has time to grow. I didnt like the first 6 episodes of Friends but it grew on me and it became a huge success. But moving shows around just complicates things and drops ratings, ask the cast of The 3rd Rock from The Sun whose show was moved 19 times in its 6 seasons, no one knew where it was anymore, and no amount of emmy wins could save it.

    Maybe Once Upon A Time can do a cross over with Happy Endings? The titles fit LOL

  • anotherhour

    Maybe a before/after kinda show? Modern Family Guy? Hot In Cleveland Show? OR Don’t Trust The B In Downton Abbey? C’mon I cant be the first to think of this LOL

  • William

    LMS and Malibu Country are good shows. MC just needs to retain some Male viewers from LMS…. about 500K (2-3tenths) and they would be solid. MC with a 1.3-1.5 and 6-7 million viewers is what is needed. The Females and half men viewers are already locked up now they need REAL MEN watching the show! So they need to get some REAL MEN on the dam show!!!
