The second episode of the winter run of the The Walking Dead earned a 5.6 adults 18-49 rating and was watched by 11 million total viewers, per EW. That's down 8 percent in adults 18-49 from a 6.1 for last week's season premiere, but still a giant number. For those who would like to play Fan Excuse Bingo, the ratings may have been impacted by President's Day weekend.

I don’t really see how President’s Day is an “excuse”. When Monday is a holiday, Sundays are more like Fridays and Saturdays; there will be less people watching live TV.

It was a slow episode but the last 10 mins was fantastic. Really glad it has these ratings.

I’m sick of “crazy Rick”, I just want more zombies! and I’m sick of Lori ruining the show, even when she’s dead,UGH!

  • PixieLavender

The Big Bang Theory got 5.5 this week. TWD Beat them! :O

  • AppleStinx

Anxious to see the poll for week 3. I’m tempted to guess 5.1.

  • John A

Lol over 3 times what Revenge and The Good Wife got.

  • Meanie

I like this show and those are still good numbers to me.

I was just talking to my friend last week. It look like the show budget is smaller & the show is turning into a huge soap opera.

I love the whole Governor vs Rick crew thing but they are cutting back on a lot of zombie scenes & adding more drama which is good for character development but I think for ppl who watch the show they watch mainly for the gore & zombie killing. Just like the second season when ppl was complaining when they gonna get off that damn farm & how season 2 was boring but whatever. I liked all season and will continue to support

take my word.. this show will become myth in few years

  • John A

Actualy over 4 times what TGW got lol. I agree they need to dump The ‘Crazy Rick’ plot. Its makes the show boring.

  • Rebecca

Just caught up on this show online over the past few weeks (along with Downton Abbey) and am enjoying it. Got used to the gore. I don’t have cable so online was the way to go.

  • TVMAN

Last weeks episode was one of worst of season. No surprise about drop. On other hand, this weeks ep was one of best

  • MichaelChickless

I guess this show is officially undead….

  • Bazza

@Mike9 This show does get higher ratings than Jersey Shore

  • mike

it beat Big bang for the week

  • Serial Rocker

Just got around to watching this week’s episode. I can understand why a number of people who watched the much less exciting instalment last week might not have rushed to watch it live this time around but they need to get caught up. The latest episode was amazing. The best final ten minutes of an episode of any show I’ve seen in a long time.

  • Robbie

I am new to the show, I used Netflix/On Demand and caught up on all the episodes. I agree that the mid season premiere was less than spectacular but the second episode more than made up for it. The writers seem to lull you for awhile in order to give you more bang for the buck when they drop an action packed ending such as they did on Sunday. I love the show and cannot wait to see if this wakes Rick up and gets him back to reality!!

  • The End

    @Meanie

Actually incorrect. The show isn’t operating on a reduced budget, it simply has a larger cast and multiple filming locations, certainly more than Season 1 and 2 had.

Woodbury and the Prison, more cast members, each of which cost money. You can see where the budget is going.

    @Joseph
Two words: “Downton Abbey” (it was the season finale).

Nevertheless, I suspect that both of the above-named programs likely joined “Walking Dead” as drawing more viewers in their time periods than any broadcast networks in the 18-49 demo, and maybe overall viewers as well.

Downton Abbey skews very old; also it couldn’t even beat The Good Wife in total viewers.

  • Blake Williams

No wonder The Good Wife and Revenge are not doing well

  • SarahL

Outstanding ratings! Great episode! Anyone who did not watch, missed out.
