Will 'The Cult' Premiere be a Cult Hit? - Poll

Tonight, the new drama Cult premieres on the CW.  The series should be of interest to many of our readers because its premise involves people who discuss TV shows on-line.  The question is how the very meta show will fare in the ratings. It has an incompatible lead-in, the dramedy Hart of Dixie. The entire premiere has been available on-line for about a week. There has not been a lot of marketing for the show. In its favor, it stars Vampire Diaries alumus Matt Davis.  This season, The CW has fared better with its supernatural/sci fi series than its teen series.  So how do you think it will fare tonight? Make your predictions.

Well, CW’s had better success with their more higher concept shows recently, so I can see this one premiering a little bit below Supernatural’s numbers.

    1.0 which is huge.

    Yeah I’ll say 0.5 to 0.6. I don’t see this getting to season 2.

If this does well, which it should in thoery, the CW has another hit on tis hands and had a good season.

Depending on TCD, if it can mantian a 0.7 most weeks somehow, than it has arrows, this and tcd to renew.

BATB will be taken off the schedule, and they will not renew 90210.

Heart of Dixie will be renewed for a thirteen episode commitment. Its sweet I hear.

Next season they will only need to green light three shows.

    0.5, for several reasons:
    1. It’s in the Tuesday Night death slot
    2. The lead-in is incompatible
    3. It has received generally negative press.
    4. The concept sounds way too meta to drawn in the kind of viewer who usually watches the CW.

Not sure why you put in about the episode being online for a week though. We see time and time again this makes no difference to the ratings outcome.

0.6 due to basically zero promotion and an incompatible lead in that barely gets a 0.6 on its own.

    Lucky to get a 0.8.

I really liked the Pilot. I was not expecting it to be that good.
It’s in a bad timeslot but I hope people like it and the show stays on a decent range.

I feel like if this makes it Beauty will likely go. And since I like Beauty, I hope it bombs.

It already has he right formula to flop.

    1. Hart of Dixie being used to launch it.
    2. CW Tuesday 9p death slot.

    0.9 / 2M

0.6 – 0.7 I saw the pilot on Hulu and noticed immediately that there was nothing about Cult that exactly jumped out and grabbed my attention. The writers are evidently interested in slowly developing the plot which might be commendable any place other than on the CW. Recent history suggests that CW viewers are into instant gratification (witness Arrow) and the Cult opener doesn’t give them that. So, I expect a lot of viewers to bail before episode two. Since, new shows on the CW typically don’t grow their ratings, I expect to see Cult’s ratings quickly drop down to the 0.5 – 0.6 range.

I think the show is too odd to make it.

I resisted seeing it ahead of time, but several did and loved it!! I’m excited for tonight’s premier of Cult. I hope it does well.

0.8 because why the hell not.
