All-new episodes of NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) and THE MINDY PROJECT (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) move to Thursday, April 4 on a special night, following an all-new episode of AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

In the all-new “Date Night” episode of NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson), who are caught between friendship and something more, try to break out of relationship limbo by going on a “first” date. Once Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) realize a full-on Jess/Nick romance might be happening, they swoop in to try to sabotage the date.

In the all-new “Mindy’s Birthday” episode of THE MINDY PROJECT (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) throws Mindy (Mindy Kaling) a surprise birthday party, but when her two worlds collide – personal and professional— it’s nothing to celebrate. Meanwhile, Jeremy (Ed Weeks) and Danny (Chris Messina) fight over the same girl (guest star Kelen Coleman, “Newsroom”).

More scheduling test from Fox to come, they want to lead next year so now it the time to test, next years schedule should be dynamic

@omabin glee would most likely go back to Tuesdays last season fox actually won that night , if TMP and NG work out after idol it will stay there.

  • Rebecca

Futoncritic shows NG airing new on 3/12, 3/19 and 3/26…although the latter two dates say “projected dates” so maybe it’ll be updated later. They don’t yet have that 4/4 airing listed (not for TMP either, yet).

  • Ultima

FutonCritic’s “projected dates” are just guesses and I wouldn’t give any weight to them.

  • Laura

The creator of the show recently said in an interview that there are now 25 episodes in this season.

It was supposed to be 24 episodes, but FOX added 1 more.

  • Nancy

    Seems like a good idea

    Thanks for the info!

The Office vs New Girl. Interesting. Mindy Project will likely beat 1600 Penn easily

  • Recognizing Truth

Not like its going to help either one of these two shows in the long-run but New Girl at least has some potential. Mindy is simply a lost cause that should’ve been cancelled a long damn time ago.

NG just aired Episode 17. Meriweter said they are doing 25 that leaves 8 by my math. Should not be too many repeats till end of season

  • Chris

Would’ve been interesting to see Mindy vs. The Office.

Don’t think either shows will get much of a bump. GLEE got season highs when it preformed after IDOL season finale. So FOX thought it was good idea to put GLEE after XF/IDOL. Didn’t turn out well…. XF was only performing in mid 2’s so It just hurt Glee. It seems like IDOL isn’t helping glee out either, but it was good idea to put Glee after those shows, just didn’t work out. GLEE is too weak to move back to Tuesdays, it would get mid to 1’s. Best option?? Mabye do a 13 episode season?

I like “The Mindy Project”, though I think it has one of the most uncreative unchanged working titles ever. Why not just call it Mindy?
It has some of the quickest and best written lines of any sitcom on the air. I’ve laughed out loud at one point during every episode.

“2 Broke Girls” has gotten really vulgar, sounding a little too much like Whitney Cummings.

I’ve seen every aired episode of “1600 Penn”, and watched with a blank, subway face from beginning to end. Who finds this show funny? I don’t buy the multiple verbatim tweets from random people claiming this show is “hilarious.” I think the writers are moonlighting as different twitter personas to pump up it’s social network presence – for real.

I like the concept of testing New Girl and Mindy on Thursday – but why would they schedule Nick & Jess’s first date (a pretty big moment for most existing fans of the show) for the test? Wouldn’t a hysterical stand-alone episode be the better move if they want to try and catch new viewers without pissing off existing ones who might miss the memo?

  • Rob R

GLEE has only 8 more episodes to air: March 7, 14, and 21 and then, presumably, the remaining five beginning April 11.

  • Rebecca

Exactly. And if I hadn’t seen this thread I wouldn’t have known there would be special Thursday episodes of NG and Mindy, unless they promoted it during that week’s Tuesday episodes because I only watch Fox on Tuesdays. I never miss NG or Mindy, so I guess eventually I would have seen on hulu that there were new episodes I missed.
