Increasing Investment.
Does anyone think that if the government increased the yearly write off for capital loss from $3000 to $30000 that more people may invest?
I’ve never had a capital loss before this year and I was shocked by the $3000 a year limit. The limit make me not want to risk money on start ups again.
Has loss on investment always been limited to $3000 a year? It’s the first time I’ve had a short term investment loss and it surprises me.
Boy, it really makes me what to investment when I can only write of $3000 a year.

Hillbilly, This is true only for current HS grads. We are passing so many kids through school who can’t read or do math, that you have to go to college grads to find the knowledge that a HS student had 20 years ago.

They also had a good point IMO. With so many people applying for a job they can be picky about who they choose. Some folks want a college degree for office runners.
I wonder why Kudlow is doing so poorly; his demo numbers are below both the prime time average and the total day average for the network, and he’s been losing for weeks to a show that’s available in almost 40 million fewer households. Ouch?

@usa8888 how drastically cutting spending in a bad recession or depression will grow the economy and create jobs. WAIT you saying rightt now we in a recession??? I thought economy was fine ??? We haven’t cut anything with baseline budget goverment has increased spending every year, just trying to reduce the rate of the increaae. Tell me this then with rates so low now, we still paid about 300 billion a year just on interest on the debt ? Thats money that goes to china, japan, etc. Money that could be used here for your investments projects. So with rates just go to 3 % more that double payments in the debt how does that help the economy?? So how is a reduction of 85 billion dollars against a 3 trillion budget going to make the sky fall. That less than .5% cut it was Obama idea for this reduction.
Mickey–you need first to finish university and then we can talk….
cathy yes it’s been max of 3,000 dollars per year but you can carry rest of the loss over to the next tax year.
