This certainly flies in the face of what people have been yammering about here for the last few days, especially when you compare it to the ongoing trend with gasoline prices.

GM’s securitization of subprime auto loans could create auto bubble
General Motors has flooded financial markets with auto-backed securities in an effort to offload its risky subprime loans onto banks, a strategy industry insiders say could produce a bubble.
High production costs and falling profit-per-car have led auto manufacturers to turn to financing to earn higher profits. Automakers have capitalized on lending by not only loaning money to customers but also packaging and selling those loans to investors in a manner similar to the sale of mortgage-backed securities that created the housing bubble.
The dramatic increase in securitization has coincided with GM’s acquisition of AmeriCredit, one of the nation’s largest subprime auto lenders, which it renamed GM Financial (GMF).
*******
85 percent of GMF loans are subprime.

Mary Schiavo (a former IG for the FAA during the government shutdowns in the 90′s) was on CNBC this afternoon commenting on the statement of Sec. of Transportation LaHood regarding the Sequester. A couple of her points:
- Air traffic controllers are exempt as are TSA law enforcement personnel
- Runway repairs are already funded in a trust fund and until that runs out there is money for maintenance
Her point was that the dialog from Washington is typical of how Washington tries to manipulate the facts. They provide just enough truth to give the appearance that everything they are stating is true.
The bottom line is you really can’t believe anything that politicians espouse.
The prospect of Obamacare is saving everyone money and will end the 100% increases in healthcare costs the GOP endorses.
ibsles is spreading complete falsehoods about the success of GM. He wanted to lose millions of jobs and let our auto industry go under but Obama saved the day. GM is making money in spite of lower sales in Europe. There is NO loan issue at all and ibsles comments about subprime loans are completely erroneous…
Perhaps ibsles can tell us why BIG OIL is gouging consumers at the pump under the ruse of switching over to summer grade gasoline. They could switch in days at little cost but they drag it out for months to bilk the public. Demand for oil way down throughout the world and the US is producing more oil that ever before….
Still haven’t heard from the right wingers about how drastically cutting spending grows jobs…..
Ibsles is a lackey for slimebaugh and is probably on his payroll.
@USA8888 The Opec cartel cuts 1 billion barrels off production and the EPA mandates these 12 different blends. Obama loves exective order why not get rid of all these blends down to two with the use of the pen. Bush did it 2007 and 2008 why cant Obama ?????? Why does obama want to hurt the american people ???? Increase of gasoline prices hurt the working poor ???
