   To give credit where credit is due, John McCain HAS been holding town meetings with his constituents, and he’s much the worse for wear for it. There has been video on the intertoobz and on TV showing the people in attendance berating him for not doing enough to get rid of “illegal aliens”. Senator Straight Talk even called one of his constituents a jerk. I’m inclined to agree.

   The problem with McCain, people think because he’s a republican, he must be a far right conservative…unfortuneately, he’s not a conservative, he’s a progressive…he’s justnot an “I’m a nutsy, left-wing loon progressive” like Clinton and Obama. His goals are the same, in as far as that’s where he sees america, but he’s not in such a hurry to destroy our way of life, and replace it with a European way of life. I had to hold my nose to vote for him..because there was no other choice…

   I was on a site, discussing how raising the minimum wage to $9 hour would effect small business. I will say this was a site for small businesses. One gentleman in particular caught my eye…he used every term for small business owners that every liberal uses…greedy, abusive, etc…you know the lines…he finally posted some links to support his argument. I didn’t recognize the sites, so I had to carefully read the data…now one guy knew the site, he called it a liberal think tank…I don’t know, so I can neither agree or disagree.

   As I scanned this data, first thing that caught my attention was their claim that the Poverty Level was $11,484 per year, for a single person. The fact that they did not explain how they came to this figure, I naturally became suspicious…I did the math, I multiplied $7.25, the current federal minimum wage, by 132 the number of work hours in a month based on full-time work, by 12, the number of months…is ANYONE surprised that the total was $11,484 per year? This group had the solution, raise minimum wage to $9 hour…then they manufactured the problem, minimum wage is poverty.

   Then I read their other assumptions…

   1.) if you’re living with your girlfriend, and you are both earning minimum wage, you aren’t a household of two with an income of $22,968. Since you are not related, you are TWO households making $11,484 each, and therefore both in poverty.

   2.)if you get food stamps or a housing subsidy, they don’t count…so if you are making minimum wage, collecting $356/month in food stamps, and getting a $450/month housing subsidy, you are still only making $11,484 and in poverty. That $9672 in benefits you are receiving doesn’t count…

   3.) They also do not count capital gains as income…so some billionaire like Warren Buffet, who gets all of his income from capital gains, has no recognzied form of income, therefore he is living in poverty with his billions.

   It took a while, but after being deluged by days of actual business statistics, he finally started admitting that maybe his source was in error…but not him of course, because he was simply basing his opinion on the false data…gee, isn’t that what liberals do? lol
