    @ SJ- Remember the days when NBC was the home for all the comedies everyone couldn’t wait to get home to watch. I think people have really given up on the network. Outside of the Voice and Sunday Night football the Network is a waste land. Their thursday night comedy block is atrocious, yet they keep trotting out the same shows, hoping people will finally watch them. The one descent sitcom they have premiered in the last 4-5 years is Guys With Kids, but with it’s dismal ratings I doubt it survives. People are just so turned off by the network as a whole, that people haven’t bothered to get invested in watching it in the first place.

    They have been bought out and comcast hate low rated show, this will turn NBC into CBS where only the fit survive. Whitney is dead in the water, i would think this is something the admins would take into consideration.

    The television landscape has changed,expanded into lots of little cable channels,not always so dependent on advertising and C3 ratings etc. No-one has to be dependent on Networks anymore…unless they cant afford cable.Does this mean only the poor are left watching networks, and if so what does that mean for advertisers who want people with money to watch their adverts and buy?

    Shows like Southland that NBC didnt air can find a niche on cable and everyone wins.Shows arent dependent on Network TV either…and that can only be good for quality TV.

    Next year Neilson is changing its ratings system to include more alternative methods of viewing,broadband etc.It will be harder to determine from overnight ratings, and even harder to compare.But it might be fairer.

    The Comcast deal was last year but they still renewed the expensive Smash on dubious ratings,so clearly they have other criteria as well.

    I like the breakup of network domination.Their ratings will never be the same again,and strange little shows get a chance to be seen on cable.Its a victory, not a failure.

    Arrow beats Whitney and Guys with kids in viewers NBC should cancel them both although i like Guys with kids the ratings suck.

    Oh brother…

    I can already tell this is going to be misunderstood and add more fuel to the arguments of desperate fans.

    Get the new Fan Excuse Bingo cards ready…

    Boom! That didn’t take long! ;)

    It was their highest rated drama… :roll:

    What are people’s expectations for The Neighbors? I don’t understand why every keeps saying it is the weak spot. It gets a 1.9 out of a 2.3 from The Middle. That is a difference of .4 Does people expect The Neighbors to have 100% retention from The Middle? It drops close to 2 million in viewers whereas Suburgatory drops close to 5 million viewers out of Modern Family and down 2.0 in the demos.

    @Networkman

    Its a turnoff for other programs in the lineup. If there was a more popular program in the slot, it might draw in more viewers to other programs in the lineup. Its not helping Modern Family as a lead in, and it makes The Middle less appealing.

    @Skylar James

    “Still, for me The B was the funniest ABC comedy by far”

    Me too :D. Should have had better ratings.

    —-

    Suburgatory deserves better ratings! I still don’t understand why people don’t like it!

  • mando

    I don’t think NBC will cancel all of its comedies.
    Parks and rec for sure survive.
    Guys with kids , Whitney and Go on is NBC’s
    And the new normal rating was blow 0.9 last night.
    I think Guys with kids will be given another chance as a mid-season like Whitney last year.

  • sonja

    Arrow is a mediocre show and actor Stephen Amell has not charisma and charm!

  • PurpleDrazi

    @Thorn – ” this will turn NBC into CBS where only the fit survive.

    As opposed to the other networks that just don’t care about ratings?
    Only the “fit” survive on NBC and ABC too. It’s just that “fit” means different things to each network.

    @Ultima – “Boom! That didn’t take long!”

    *sigh*

  • Michael

    Remember when Cougar Town was moved because it was “only” retaining 62% of Modern Family viewers?

  • Michael

    @Networkman

    “Suburgatory” had over a 100% retention rate last season, possibly due to a “pretention” effect of airing immediately prior to “Modern Family.”

  • Ruan

    “Modern Family” is back to the 4.0′s. OH YES.

  • Ele

    I am worried about Criminal Minds, it has started to show its age. The scheduling has been awful, we get little continuity. Even though it is my favorite show, it has declined its quality after season 5, now they show too much blood and gore which is really not needed…
    CBS has never really given CM a strong promotion and now it needs it more, plus Survivor is not helping as a lead in..I believe CM can continue for one more year but I am afraid some of its stars that have to renew their contract will not…
