    Hi Nancy,

Yes, the banking industry is lobbying hard and they don’t like the idea of the consumer protection agency being a watchdog over them. Who can blame them but we really need someone to protect our assets. Think of all the money lost after the meltdown. Some will never be fully recovered. We are left again to hang out and dry while the GOP blocks any nomination. They first want to water down the agency. Should we be surprised?

  • tony

@USA–You’re beating a dead horse with the legitimate rape guys– they lost, and are not in the picture a majority of conservatives dont agree with these losers(Kein and Murdoch),I have no control over primary winners–the dopes supported these incompetent office seekers. However that being said the bigger problem of legitimate rape is being permitted by Barney Fife in the White House,he runs end arounds looking for someone to blame, when he should stop and look in the mirror.
You dont have to convince me I wont defend poor Republican Senate candidates,I have nightmares of these people every night.

  • 1nancy2

“They first want to water down the agency.” Faith, Delay, water down, and the long term goal/aim is…by golly, no consumer watchdog agency at all. They want that usual ‘guideline’ and we know that ‘guideline’ means: “Don’t hafta” do it.”, and/or “Let the financial agency police itself”. Right, because history tells us that worked/works so well…Not. No Laws in place=The little people will continue to be robbed by the O of C (Out of control), banking thieves. BBL

Fox dominates the ratings again, and liberal propaganda continues to shrink in relevance and go down the tube. When will the mainstream media finally align their message with what the majority of Americans want to hear, and become more powerful?

  • Faith3

Why should we fill position for any agency at all? Think of it this way, if it interferes with one very powerful interest in Washington, don’t let it run. Talk about totalitarianism! People don’t even seem to care. Really sad day for our country. We know who runs Washington.

  • Faith3

LOL, couldn’t miss commenting on this one, “Let them police themselves” thanks for the laugh. I needed that!

  • 1nancy2

The reason people don’t care is b/cause they are on step #1 of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs: Physiological needs= “Air, water, and food are metabolic requirements for survival in all animals, including humans. Clothing and shelter provide necessary protection from the elements.” It is doubtful that people reach ‘Self Actualization’, which is the last step on Maslow’s pyramid and will be forever joined with step #1, or struggling to survive. It is sad, but true. I have friends that can’t rub two pennies together. In fact, a friend just said to me, an RN, “I worked hard all of my life and now I will probably end up in poverty.” It hurts to hear that coming out of the mouth of a good friend. Sad days, indeed. Did you tell her she has to work harder? Did you tell her that she should work until she dies because there just isn’t enough for her to retire. Did you tell her that she will be forced out of her field even if she needs to work when she becomes to expensive? Did you tell her to suck it up and wait for stuff to trickle down on her?

  • usa8888

This just in: Fox Faux “News” reports that a right wing Texas woman criticized Biden for saying, “use a shotgun instead of an ar-15.” The woman admits to having many guns and so Biden (and all thinking people) thought she should feel comfortable confronting an intruder (the chances of which happending being extremely remote) with a shotgun, handguns, etc. The woman said she’d be a sitting duck. It’s unclear if this woman would like a tank in her living room, just in case…. She can collect her salary from La Pierre next week… this woman probably doesn’t want background checks either because criminals would try to avoid them…I wonder if she and La Pierre are for police roadblocks…becuase criminals would try to avoid them…

Well the Gini index tells us things aren’t getting better. Inequality is at an all time high. Back to the Gilded ages. We should all continue to take pay cuts are not get increases as the price of everything goes up and make sure we dismantle as many safety nets as possible at the same time we dismantle regulations and NOT fill agencies that interfere with the party line. Real logical but yes I foresee another moral hazard in the making. What we need now is a well informed citizenry. Only then will Congress be held accountable.

At this point, I am trying to give her hope and that’s not an easy task b/cause I know she is screwed. The possibility of her turning her life around financially is almost nil. She needs a miracle, so, everyone here, pray to God or the God you worship or whatever you choose, to bring some relief to Marie. Thanks in advance. BBL

The argument that the oil from Canada going to the Gulf may be exported is a possibility but you miss an important point – the crude passing thru the pipeline will be taxed and be a huge plus to the Treasury.

Yes, this is a fair argument. There’s plenty of fair arguments to be made for Keystone, my entire point was that people seem to be in favor of certain policies for the wrong reasons; namely, their expectation that it will result in significantly cheaper gas.

As an extension of what I was saying last night, I wouldn’t go so far as to say the U.S. should nationalize it’s oil resources, but at the least, consider the fact that the energy market is unlike any other industry, except for food. Disruptions in energy prices are so fundamentally tied to our everyday budgets, to the cost of…well, everything, to demand. That, and it’s tied to geopolitical power.

We might reasonably conclude that, as such, the energy market is a matter of both economic stability and national security, and under such circumstances, are America’s best interests being served by free commerce? Would more protectionist policies in regards to American natural resources be better for us as a whole, even if it’s worse for a minority of private entities? For example, is it good for your family’s bottom line that the price of gasoline, refined from domestically extracted fuel, is subject to German demand? Should you be competing with India, China, Japan, South Korea, France to purchase America’s natural resources?

Man, are you super brilliant! How in the world did you get so smart? Ok, will Rush move to CR? If so, he will join thousands that just aren’t up to a Socialistic Amerika. Geez, I won’t need to look at ratings, commentary, etc. from now on – I’ll just tune into your specious vibes and drink some more Kool-Aid. Wow! What a trip! Could even be better than your LSD trips?

You have to sign up (pay money) to read the whole article. Them or should i say some of them Australian’s are money hungry. ;) Yes i know some news papers in this country do the same thing.

THE UN’s climate change chief, Rajendra Pachauri, has acknowledged a 17-year pause in global temperature rises, confirmed recently by Britain’s Met Office, but said it would need to last “30 to 40 years at least” to break the long-term global warming trend.

30 to 40 years? Talk about moving the goalpost.

^These are some of the worst demo numbers I’ve ever seen for Cable News. You know things are bad when Shep finishes in 2nd place.

With Congress on break nothing to report on. Just ordinary news ain’t a big draw.

New Redeye tonight at 11pm. Dana Perino will be on & hopefully in the leg chair.

    I enjoy the conversation.

I am a free marketeer and believe the market should dictate the price. I don’t see price as being a national security issue. Today we currently import more crude feedstock than we produce which to some extent is a national security issue (price spikes or supply disruptions due to geopolitical events). There are estimates that the supply of North America oil and natural gas reserves, if accessed, would make us energy self-sufficient and a net exporter. If Washington were ever able to implement a “realistic” energy policy… Wishful thinking!

The court system, and the psychiatric professionals involved clearly could not of seen this coming. The info I get is contradictory to the reports, my understanding was the parents tried to get him into a care facility due to growing hostility and bizarre behavior. But were denied.

I do not know much about autism, but the circumstances of this are so disturbing and difficult to process. As I said things like this don’t happen to people I know. My Aunt is an employee of the Court and sat in on the initial hearing just a few days ago for the son. No family was there for him for the hearing. My Aunt told me he clearly was not able to function as a normal 19 year old based on his answers given to the judge. The part in the mlive. com story that was not included is so DISTURBING (im talking (Night of the Living Dead/Hannible Lecter disturbing) again, difficult to process. All I can say is I hope Robin was gone long before her Ron came home to find them both. How any loving mother, father or family member could or would not see the potential for this to happen and not take precaution!
