Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    People still bashing the CW because of the lowest TV Live Ratings, most of the CW tv shows are the most popular shows on the internet, soon people will not even watch live television anymore, The CW knows that, check twitter, Getglue, Fb etc. the most popular shows are The CW…so why hating, I think they are not really the losers here!

  • Andrew

    @SJ thanks for that info I had my wires crossed because online they kept making it look like OMM was part of the reason it was canceled.

    Their facebook page was extremely happy after it was canceled claiming they were the reason and the lord had answered their prayers etc…

  • I like this show

    @Holly

    How do networks launch new shows generally? Off of established hits BUT you keep telling yourself that ABC isn’t protecting GA and like I said before I will continue to laugh.

  • J

    @RHS

    “No, it hasn’t and the odds are not good because its ratings are fairly poor.”

    For the CW? Not really. It’s certainly not at Arrow or TVD levels, and its time slot competing against the shows listed doesn’t do it any favors.

    “However, if it can claw its way back up to .6-.7, it might have a shot.”

    Imagine if the CW actually promoted it? Maybe using some of the awards, albeit nothing outstanding, it has received, i.e. the PCAs and Spoiler TV awards. At least it would give them an excuse. But maybe the fact that there are three women show runners doesn’t sit that well in a male dominated industry.

    @Jazz
    I think you’ve got it right about Nashville. I watch the show and enjoy it, but really hooked me in the first place was the music itself, which sounds good to my ears and is actually performed by actors who play their instruments (and/or by musicians who can act?). I’ve seen less of that in recent weeks.

  • Andrew

    What confuses me about BATB is the original story he looked like a beast but in this ones hes this gorgeous guy with a tiny scar on his face weird to say the least.

  • AaronExplicable

    Person Of Interest was at it’s best last night. The people I’ve seen complaining about how little screen time the main actors got would be better suited sticking to basic procedurals. The story told last night was great and J Nolan did a wonderful job directing.

  • sarah nz

    @ PurpleDrazi – COOL B5 is still 1 of my top 5 programmes ever :D

    @ Halaci – awesome 2nd post

    @ The End – exactly don’t think that we will see another episode like Relevance for a long time, I loved it but would not want to watch every episode like that.

    @ askmelast79 – was wondering that myself the last couple of weeks.

    Also apologies to all Revolution and ZeroHour fans for slagging the 2 shows – not ment to be personal and obviously I’m still disappointed in what type of show Revolution turned out to be for civilized discussions.

    jesus max, you are one sad person

  • Lol

    Lol at batb fans gloating about awards only a few of them won by voting multiple times. Keep dreaming that that willsave your show from cancellation.

  • Andrew

    @sarah: Nothing whatsoever civilized about this site only egos gone rampant and people treating others as if they are beneath them or intellectually inferior. Its pathetic to say the least but thats how this site has always been shrugs.

    Wow. Look at all the lonely women and effeminate men getting all catty about Greys barely beating POI.

    LOL. Wow. Look at all the lonely male nerds with no sex life getting all catty cuz POI can’t beat an aging serialized drama in its 9th season.

  • 728huey

    Yay for Idol bumping back up in the ratings this week, though with the exception of two of the male contestants, they were pretty boring.

    For the most part I try to completely avoid any of the dramatic posts regarding Scandal and Revenge, but the fact that Scandal was drawing low 2′s early in the season and has risen to a 2.7 means this show is a sleeper hit. It’s making a slow rise to the top, and it could become a bonafide hit if it can avoid having outlandish plotlines and get to syndication.

    Since NBC is really struggling, I wonder whether they would experiment with airing some shows from their sister cable networks during March and early April to gauge what shows they could air next season. I was thinking they could air reruns of Suits at 10:00 pm EST Thursdays and the dearly departed Alphas at 10:00 pm Fridays after Grimm. If they tank, well, no big deal, but if they do fairly decent this could give NBC some ideas come pilot season.

    “Must Flee TV”

    Yep. That’s what I called them when ‘Do No Harm’ was on its way to getting the boot. It would not surprise me if they ended up finishing behind CW in the 18-49.

    I’m willing to bet that NBC will soon have their own ‘Grubbs’ moment; that is, bring forth a TV show this coming fall that is murdered so brutally during a sneak-preview session to TV critics, that the show is canceled before it is even put on the air for the general public. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened to TWO of their new shows.

    That’s when entertainment news shows will start asking the question, “Are NBC’s days numbered on regular (VHF) network television?”

    Raj’s girl on TBBT is one of the few mistakes this show has made. She should be dropped ASAP.

  • Bye Max?

    Everyone saying nasty things about Max leaving, you’re just as bad as you claim he is.

    Max, I’ll admit I was one of the people who said a horrible thing or two about you recently, but…..it was big of you to say what you said, and it shows you do have a brain and you’re not as immature as I thought you were. I mean, you could’ve gone on for eternity rambling about Revenge sucking and Chicago Flopping, and that is your right.

    Unless, of course, this is an attention-seeking ploy. But holy, people, he said he’s giving you what you want, do you really need to rub his face in the dirt some more? People do have feelings you know, even the ones you call trolls.

    I don’t think Max is the only problem. Today’s society of faceless namecalling on the internet has turned us into a hate-filled society of nasty people who only feel better if someone else isn’t. Or so it would seem from any comment board you can read just about anywhere.

  • Kelly

    Point is, BaTB beat Arrow & won a PCA! That should as least count for something good.

  • Samm

    @Halaci, very insightful post.

    now I feel much better about the future direction of POI. This show is so out of the box!

  • Andrew

    Finally someone makes sense here .

    Geez. looks like I missed quite a bunch of hissy fits yesterday regarding Max.

    I never understood why people got so bugged by his posts. Honestly, don’t get upset FOLKS. It’s the internet, fellas. It’s not like..YOU KNOW…REAL LIFE! I can’t imagine how some of you function in the real world if you get THIS UPSET from a poster on a TVRATINGS board. GOOD GOD.

    Personally I think MAX has just moved on to another board/fourm.
