Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Nashville was one of those that I looked forward to because of the music and the vibe of the show. It’s not dark, violent or disturbing. But it’s not milktoast either. I got excited when they started doing something with the male characters. Now, nothing. And Deacon is gorgeous. He has that mmmm quality that is ideal for a show like this.

It was actually the music of the two younger characters that grabbed me. Gunnar? and Scarlett? What those two do with their voices is unbelievable. In the beginning I watched for them and the kitchen.

    BRING ON PARIS NOW! HAHA

    Max,
I will certainly miss you. Yes, your posts rile-up a number of people, but to me, it’s more annoying to read (more like scroll past) numerous posts poking fun at you. Complete waste of time, yet they persist and take up so much space doing so.
Another annoyance: after a night of such great programming, chock full of quality stuff, most people here go on and on at length about the feeble, brain-draining shows which rate a 0.5 or 0.8 in the demos on such networks as the CW, etc.

  • Cw i like

I do not understand two things
First, because the war Arrow and TVD fans, obviously both are good shows that appeal to the people and are already renovated, it only matters that they keep doing well
second, which is the drama with BATB? if you hate the show simple, do not see it or worry about it, and do not need to be answering each post to support it, because being so aware of everything about the ….

“It was actually the music of the two younger characters that grabbed me. Gunnar? and Scarlett? What those two do with their voices is unbelievable. In the beginning I watched for them and the kitchen”

FIRST EXCELLENT TV SHOW TASTE. :)

Second, I actually can’t stand their voices. I cringe everytime Scarlett opens her mouth. I love Hayden and Connies voice, though..and AVERY is my favorite character and I like his voice too but is it JJ really singing?

@Richard Steven Hack, @sarah nz, @Samm: thanks for your kind words!

  • Carl

@SueP, maybe TVD fell halfway through because of Jeremy’s death? Were people waiting to see if he was actually dead?

  • Joseph

I suspect that in the 18-34 demo, “American Idol” was the only program last night (February 21st) to beat Univision.

Like I’ve said before, GCB got unfairly cancelled over Scandal. Scandal had the better lead-in and Grey’s was new every single week Scandal was on. GCB had to air on its own for a couple of times and Desperate Housewives was a weaker lead-in.

However, GCB disappointed me. It wasn’t the guilty pleasure I’d thought it would be. Very good cast though.

being that max’s good bye post was more eloquent than ANYTHING he’d actually ever written before, i think more than ever that he is connected to the site. stirred up the convo and now that said convo happens w/out him, he goes gracefully. but neither here nor there. granted, i think its kind of nutso how people had to go on the attack but at the same time, i’m happy the annoying little gnat (whomever it might be) is gone.

i think HOD is kind of a lock for renewal at this point. its usually in the .5-.6 range and has two years under its belt. batb and tcd are nearly on par w ratings and tcd has no lead in, so i’m going with that for renewal.

i’m all for a more sci-fi cw, so i think they should put tcd and hod on the same night (they could do well w similar viewers) call it ‘cw girls night’ and seriously use the spot after tvd to launch a show in fall, move the show in spring so they can launch a new show, etc. they need to take advantage of tvd while its still on top.

As someone who usually only lurk here the reason why this site is becoming rather annoying lately is not because of Max but of the posters who respond to him/ her. How hard is to ignore him/her? It’s ridiculous how he/she only makes one post per thread and then every other response has to mention him somehow, whether it’s to call him names or accuse him of doing the same exact thing that they’re doing. I think it was a few days ago I had to give up reading a thread because the first three pages were filled with insults about Max and yet there wasn’t one post from him/her.

Also the adding of flop to everything and insulting viewers intelligence because they simply choose not to watch a particular show is quite irritating.

  • Nora

POI was bad last night. Seriously, seriously bad. Worse because last weeks show was the best this season. And nobody to blame but the people who put it together, no football, no Valentines Day, no long weekend. Seasons been weak overall when compared to S1, but this was so bad I tuned out about 40 minutes in.

  • Pavelsauce

    @Joseph
What about The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men?

  • Sara

Good for Greys, still strong¡¡ :D

  • Holly

    @I like this show,

How do networks launch new shows generally? Off of established hits BUT you keep telling yourself that ABC isn’t protecting GA and like I said before I will continue to laugh.

    *headdesk*

So, CBS is protecting Criminal Minds then? And protected CSI for years… And NBC is all about protecting SVU and The Office… Yep, that’s it.

  • DW

    1.3 and 2.9 a cult hit. 5.4 and 10 million , huge hit.

  • Mithrandir

I am little shocked by all the hate towards POI. Last night episode was absolutely fantastic!

I admit I am not terribly knowledgeable of the inner workings of rankings, but I have always wondered if the 18-49 demo has lost some of it’s relevance in today’s economy. Unemployment is up, college debt is skyrocketing, new college graduates now face the worst job market in decades. I know the 18-49 demo has always been the darling of advertisers, but isn’t it plausible that an older demo with more financial stability and disposable income provides a better gauge of a shows profitability to advertisers?

  • Pavelsauce

I was pleasantly surprised that Univision was able to beat ABC last night. As for NBC, terrible, terrible, terrible. TVD did really well, especially since it beat both ABC and NBC during its hour. It’s still no surprise that Zero Hour’s ratings are abysmal.

  • Alecia

    @ rob60990

Scandal wasn’t unfairly renewed over GCB. It’s ratings while low was steady. GCB kept on falling and at one time got a 1.5 and Scandal’s lowest was a 1.8.
