Hey, I am looking for a good comedy club and someone suggested the CPAC convention. Have any of you been there?

Many GOP governors and key members (including huntsman) have signed the Supreme Court brief supporting gay marriage. This directly contradicts the backward stance of the right wingers in the GOP

I suspect (unless of course you munch the complete koolaid package sans sugar and water )that you don’t agree with everything the democratic party does and stances the far left or moderate left does. There are those of us who have built our little log cabins or sided with Nelson Rockafeller that exsist in the Grand Old Party.

Mark wrote: “I always say don’t tell me you are for liberties and freedoms if you are against gay marriage. if somebody is against gay marriage but claims they for peoples liberties and freedoms they are full of BS.”

I guess I can’t claim to be for people’s liberties and freedoms because I’m against some other non-traditional marriages such as same-blood marriage (e.g. consenting brother and sister). Is there any type of marriage that you’re against?

92% of the American people and 88% of NRA members are FOR background checks on weapons…so why is La Pierre (the extremist ceo of the NRA) against background checks..when he was all for them 10 years ago?? Is he getting blood money from someone???? Why doesn’t Wayne do what his members want????

Chicago’s Anti-Gun Police Chief Admits He Has Never Seen A Legal Firearm Owner Commit A Crime With A Gun, “It Just Doesn’t Happen”…

During Feb. 22 testimony before an Illinois state house committee, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy admitted he’s never seen anyone with a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID) commit a gun offense.

“It just doesn’t happen,” McCarthy said.

Instead, McCarthy alleged most gun violence comes from gang members, who are “not eligible to receive [FOID] cards” to begin with. This also means they are not eligible to own guns in the state of Illinois.

Abound Solar ordered to clean up “hazardous waste”

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado health department is ordering bankrupt Abound Solar to clean up hazardous waste and thousands of solar panels that it says are unsellable at four Front Range facilities.’’

The company filed for bankruptcy protection last year after prices of solar panels collapsed.

d.d. it’s always great to see good news.

BTW: I’m hoping the professor puts this on the U of M website. But it may not happen because of how liberal Universities are.

The head of the Physics department replied to an article written by a student stating that most scientists are atheist. I’m paraphrasing what he said.

The falsity that intelligent people do not believe in a higher being is not even supported by the study stated in the article.
The 2009 Pew Poll only used members of American Association for the Advancement of Science, which is more of a political group then a scientific group. It’s membership makes up less than 20% of scientist.
    Pew Poll:
Biological/Medical Field: 51% believe in a God or a higher power while 41% do not believe in either.

Chemistry: 55% believe in God or a higher power while 39% do not believe in either.

Geoscience: 50% believe in God or a Higher Power and 47% do not believe in either.

Physics/Astronomy: 48% believe in God or a Higher Power, and 46% do not believe in either.

This study shows even in this very limited group of scientist most believe in God or a Higher power.
Another problem with this poll is how do you define scientist?
76% of medical doctors believe in God or a higher power.
82% of engineers believe in God or a higher power.

From personal interaction with scientist, I would estimate the over half of scientist believe in a higher power, around large group are agnostic and a small group are atheist.

Stating you are an atheist to prove your superior intellect is accomplishing the opposite of what you which.

This just in: MSNBC sweeps primetime demo ratings again for the weekend. Fox ratings continue to drop….

MSNBC always wins on the weekends. Prison, sex and drugs always sells.

  • usa8888

This just in: Fox, the propaganda arm of the right wing GOP, is pushing the idea that wind energy generation is bad and that the sequester won’t affect the military. They are also pushing the illogical stance of right wing extremist La Pierre of the gun lobby when 88% of NRA members favor background checks. Fox’ audience is dwindling and Rupert is looking for ways to jack it up….

    ————————–
Yes because 2 gay people is exactly the same as brother and sister. Why not throw if 2 gays can marry then maybe a guy will marry a horse argument. All that being said if 2 or more adults(yes polygamy) consent verbally(which rules out man-horse love) with eachother to marry, who am I to say that is right or wrong. While I don’t preach freedoms and liberties on all issues(i believe that term is nothing more then a talking point with limited thought about what it actually means), marriage is one issue I actually believe in freedom and liberties for all.

Marriage has existed in many forms way before the invention of Christianity or the United States so who says that the US/Christianity should have a say what marriage is or isn’t.

Jack Lew, who proposed Sequestration, was approved by the Senate Finance Committee. The full Senate vote will probably be taken up in the next day or two. At that point, if approved, he will become Treasury Secretary.

    ———————-
Somebody who believes in a “Higher Power” generally would classify themself as agnostic and not christian. I would be curious to see the study in how many scientists believe in god in the form Christianity(or Muslum or Jews, etc) pushes out.

What would be more interesting would be how many are actually practicing the religion they believe(ie do they go to church, run their life under the moral code of their religion, etc) compared to saying there might be a higher power.

  • Mark

by the way I did a search

    http://www.pewforum.org/Science-and-Bioethics/Scientists-and-Belief.aspx

    Believe in God – 33
    Believe in a “Higher Power” – 18
    Don’t believe in either – 41
    No Comment – 7

So to try make his results seem better the guy who wrote on that study combined 2 different belief systems to try make it seem like 51% are religious

  • usa8888

Sequestration was entertained because the right wing House members would not agree to reasonable measures for the economy. They wanted to drastically cut spending in a recession and they wouldn’t budge (kind of like creationists who are SURE they are correct)…that’s why we are currently in the position we are in….

  • Mikey O

@USA8888 Yes solar is our future been hearing that for over 30 years now. Thats way before china was a player. What crazy is Obamas investment tax dollars in green engery companies that have gone belly up, some of these companies have then been sold to the china. How is that a smart move ???

The engery dept created in the 70’s main purpose was to reduce and get us off foreign oil. How that working out ?? For the creation of the engery dept deal we also got open up Purdeo Bay and the alaskan pipe line. The argument about Puredo bay and the pipline at the time was puredo bay had only 5-7 years of oil supply and pipeline would kill off the Caribou. Still getting oil and caribou are fine.

  • Matthew

So to try make his results seem better the guy who wrote on that study combined 2 different belief systems to try make it seem like 51% are religious

Ya, but she seemed to be mostly talking about atheism, not religiosity. There’s a big leap between believing in God and being religious, and an even bigger leap between being religious and literal interpretation of scripture, the latter of which would directly contradict parts (or the entirety of) some scientific fields of study.

  • Ratboy

Sequestration was not ENTERTAINED!!!! Sequestration was proposed by and then signed into law by President Obama!!!
