    AppleStinx and Mark, there are many things you can look at and say if you don’t believe in “x” you don’t believe in freedom. I don’t believe in blood marriage or step marriage. I think it’s sick when a step-father or step-mother divorce their spouse and then marry their step-child.

    As long as churches are not force to perform gay marriages I’m OK with it. One married couple will pay more in taxes, then two single people. So it’s a win for the government.
    Unmarried people avoid the death tax by having everything they own in both of their names.

    Most scientists view Nature itself as God. That is not the same as inventing an illusory megalomaniac, assigning it human features and attitudes, and pretending that it talks back to you in your head every morning. But for those who don’t have the fortitude to overcome a lifetime of propagandized indoctrination, observing anecdotal evidence from so-called Christians should be enough to put them on fraud watch. For example, the ‘Christians’ who frequent this site are STAUNCH capitalists. An extrapolation of Jesus’ behavior and attitude suggests that he would HATE capitalism. Rich people in his views were going straight to hell, unless of course you believe that camels can go through the eyes of needles.

    Sequestration was not ENTERTAINED!!!! Sequestration was proposed by and then signed into law by President Obama!!!
    ————————–
    It was also voted by a Republican house and then have them tell us how wonderful it is soon after they voted for it. John Boehner says that 98% of the Sequester is great stuff.

  • Mark

    @Gabriel

    I would consider myself agnostic, but yeah I do see a big distinction between a “higher power” and a “God” as I am much more open into believing a higher power does exist then some physical being who has a heavy hand into the creation of the earth and the events that happen in it at his own will. that’s basically why linking the 2 beliefs up sort of rubbed me the wrong way as if they the same(since I am very open to a unknown higher power more then a God that it seems like we have to much information on that it seems to become a fictional tale)

  • Ratboy

    I think it is great stuff! If we cant cut 2 cents on a dollar with all the waste in government spending then we are too screwed to go on!

    Go to the store and buy 100 bucks worth of groceries. When it is all rung up look at everything you bought and pick out 2 bucks worth of goods and put them back. I bet when you get home you will survive!

  • AppleStinx

    @Mark

    Why do you guys always bring out the “you’re comparing same-sex marriage to bestiality” argument? All I’m commenting is on your saying “if you’re against this one single issue, then you can’t claim to be for individual freedoms as a whole”, and my question was whether there was any type of marriage that you would oppose, in which case you would not be able to claim to be for freedoms either (according to you).

  • 1966

    it’s hard to belive that movie is over 30 years old.

  • Cathy

    Mark, He was replying to the statement that most scientist were atheist, so there is no problem with him combining the numbers of God and higher power. Seeing how he said that in his reply. Matthew gets what he was talking about.

    Somebody who believes in a “Higher Power” generally would classify themself as agnostic Mark: Agnosticism is the belief that the existence or non-existence of any deity is unknown and possibly unknowable An agnostic neither believes or disbelieves in God or a “Higher Power”. Where did you hear that agnostics believe in a higher power?

    I’d like to see the numbers for all scientist not just the ones that are the members of a club or group.

    —————————
    Why do you guys always bring out the “you’re comparing same-sex marriage to bestiality” argument?
    —————————
    Because you were trying to compare apples and oranges(in your case brother/sister to gay marriage), plus you have idiots like this in the Republican party who do compares apples and oranges(in this case gay marriage to marrying a horse)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkW3tjo8_XQ

    ——————————-
    All I’m commenting is on your saying “if you’re against this one single issue, then you can’t claim to be for individual freedoms as a whole”, and my question was whether there was any type of marriage that you would oppose, in which case you would not be able to claim to be for freedoms either (according to you).
    ——————————-
    My basic point about championing how somebody is all liberties and freedoms is idiotic because there is bound to be some liberty or freedom that a person won’t be for(and in many cases deservingly so). In generally it’s a losing statement when I hear somebody proclaim that’s what they are all about. Now to fight for some liberties and some freedoms is fine but don’t act like you are fighting for everybody’s when you make that statement(and let’s be honest here one side is much worse using liberties and freedoms as a generic campaign slogan then the other)

    That being said if somebody truly was for everybody’s Liberties and Freedoms I think gay marriage should be one of the easier ones to be for since it harms nobody, the fact that people are against it because it goes against their personal or moral beliefs tells me that fighting for liberties and freedoms in general is not truly there main purpose of being a politican. that being said I gave my response about marriage in general in the last statement

  • Mark

    @Cathy
    ——————————–
    Mark, He was replying to the statement that most scientist were atheist
    ——————————–
    I think the problem is he didn’t separate the difference between belief systems. I do think there is a huge leaps between God, Higher Power and Athiests and combining 2 of those together gives a skewed result.

    I know what Agnosticism is by definition but I am guessing there is many Agnostics who would label themselves as Athiest and many who would have belief in a higher power of some sort(that has nothing to do with a God like one from the bible)
