Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Saw the Promo for Red Widow , not a bad new short series , you can stream the 1st episode via ABC website

  • John A

Oh come on The Mentalist repeat got 1 tenth better than TGW your all bragging like thats impressive. Especally as its just a 0.7 lol.

  • racer

I often wonder if tvx#s is edited by TAR haters? Last night’s episode was centered in beautiful Bora Bora. I didn’t bother watching one second of the Oscars or any other tv show.

  • Samunto

Impressive ratings for Fox’s toons – esp Simpsons & Family Guy.

  • Sunday

When is The Mentalist on next week? 9pm or 10pm? I’m confused. Did cbs even advertise the swap?

  • Pavelsauce

This is the first time I watched the Oscars in its entirety (and probably at all). I liked Seth MacFarlane as host. He was pretty funny. The Les Mis and Chicago musical numbers were great. The show still got boring at times, but the performances made up for that.

    You can’t be serious.

  • Ben

I liked the show (execpt for the dud, way too long William Shatner bit that was not funny), and many people do agree that Seth MacFarlane was a far better host than Anne Hathaway and James Franco.
I am glad that it went up in the ratings from last year, although they do need to give out awards to stuntmen and stuntwomen who risk life and limb for the motion picture industry.
The oft repeated suggestion that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host the awards next year will probably result in even bigger ratings.

    Oscars were trash.

Only ONE person said TM beat TGW and that’s bragging now? He’s just telling the truth no matter what. Too much exaggeration in your response.

  • Michael

Interesting that Seth was only picking, criticizing, and joking (maybe?) on women this year.

    @ Sunday

I think the swap was last night only & it goes back to normal next week

    Agreed! So silly!!

  • ethan

When are these networks gonna learn not to seclude original programming against major events like the oscars, the grammys, NFL playoff games etc???

The TAR drop from 2.5 to 1.8 is not that bad against the 12.1 Oscarcast

There will also be an (*) beside its rating

  • Ram510

Did anybody seethe Scandal promo that they were talking about, I missed it. Was it any good?

  • Michael

    Better host, better ratings.

    Seth Macfarlane-2012 >> James Franco-2010 >> Billy Crystal-2011.

Can we dispense with the “bring back Billy Crystal” talk once and for all?

  • Chris Parker

I thought Seth was great, & funny

  • Mark

@ekra well if your office wasn’t abuzz the ratings must be a shame? I guess the puls of america is in your office. This was one of the years for me that I actually saw a couple of the movies that were up for major awards (lincoln and Django).

  • Michael1

Seth picked on himself plenty. He also joked about George Clooney, Abe Lincoln, Mel Gibson, and others.

  • Jazz

Does any one know the numbers for worldwide viewers? Seth kept on saying like a billion or something. Do people really get up in the middle of the night to watch this?

That being said, I actually watched this one, almost in its entirety and I liked it but it was long. Which reminded me of why I don’t watch award shows. I liked SM as host even though I don’t like his shows. I liked the look of the set and the music but sadly did not care for the red carpet. I used to watch only the red carpet and then shut off the tv before any awards show. Hair was unkempt. Dresses were not special

The Scandal promo was racy. Tarantino was cool onstage and that is pretty much when my viewing ended.
