    Good news from Kentucky

*Kentucky Senate passes bill blocking more federal gun laws

FRANKFORT, Ky. —The Senate has overwhelmingly passed a bill that would prohibit Kentucky from enforcing any federal gun control laws if they’re enacted.

The vote was 34-3 Monday afternoon. Three of the Senate’s 14 Democrats voted no, stating that the bill would be trumped by the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

Berea Republican Sen. Jared Carpenter sponsored the bill. He said the Supremacy Clause applies only if Congress is acting in pursuit of its constitutionally authorized powers, which he said wouldn’t apply to stricter gun measures.

The one-page bill deems unenforceable federal bans on gun ownership and registration. It specifically mentions semiautomatic firearms and their magazines.

The bill applies to federal laws as well as federal rules, regulations and orders.

Good for my State, land of the Free and Home of the KENTUCKY WILDCATS & LOUISVILLE CARDS :-)

  • Cathy

Ibsles, Some of Obama’s supporters are so uninformed at least 18% of them. Because how can you believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction and still approve of the job the President is doing? The President is the leader of our country and he sets the direction.

    Cathy

You are correct about the 2014 mid-term election. Since there is no presidential race (no coat tails) the congressional races are really local elections.

Hows the Texas Tornado doing this fine day?

Too early for us to worry about those, but I’m fine just getting older and uglier.

Got to run, errands to do, will check in later.

If we need to spend money to stimulate our economy, we don’t we spend it on the military?

    ===========================

Because the military is already a bloated bureaucracy and you know what they say about feeding monsters. They never stop eating.

In response to your earlier question regarding scientists and their belief in God, a poll conducted in 1998 by Larson and Witham suggests that when the belief question is unambiguous, scientists emphatically rejected a “personal God” or an “intellectual God that answers prayers.” In fact, as few as 7% believed in a personal God, compared to 27% in the 1914 poll.

Secondly, in Matthew 19:23-24, Jesus makes no mention of tax collectors or government workers or anything of the sort. He was referring to rich people in general.

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Almost ALL modern Christians, prompted by their wealthy pastors, have embraced a convenient interpretation of Jesus teachings. Jesus’ lifestyle was a conscious CHOICE. He had the choice to be rich or ‘poor’ and he chose the latter. Can you show me where he was only referring to tax collectors?

  • Mikey O

@Cathy It’s beacause he uses that charm, likeablity, cool factor and charisma and it works with the younger folks. Why do you think he goes on soft venues like daily show, Lettermam and View etc. Plus you have the media thats has built him up like a celebrity and never gets any hard questions from them. If the media ever turns on him then thing would change , but dont bet on that happening.

  • Cathy

As for the 2014 election, the first major part of Obamacare will start Jan. of 2014. By the Nov elections we will all feel the impact of this law. If Obamacare causes only a third of the problems people are stating 2014 will be a GOP landslide. If Obamacare works we will have a democratic house and senate.

It’s a large time to 2014. Obama has been able to keep the blame on the GOP but numbers are slowly turning. The GOP is picking up numbers.
