This just in: Fox Faux “News” is claiming Obama is censoring the Internet. The only reason he wants to “censor” is not to violate the 1st Amerndmant but to keep track of Al Qaeda terrorists and domestic right wing terrorists that want to overthrow the government. This is a good move–you have got to keep track of people who want to overthrow the government with the assault weapons……and right wing kooks like the racist in Colorado who police just arrested…..

  • usa8888

The right wing GOP will be held responsible for the sequester and its jobs cuts…..

  • usa8888

The CPAC comedy convention didn’t invite Christie but they invited Palin whose minister performed an anti-witch ceremony on her…..that indicates the depths to which the right wingers have sunk…..right wingers operate in a logical vacuum….

    3) he take us from two years of severe recession followed by two years of a robust recovery.
    4) he gave us an economic boom through the mid-eighties.
    5) he brought the inflation rate down.
    6) he created millions of jobs. (unemployment was 10.6%, he brought it down to 5.5%

Every single one of those things was both caused and solved by The Fed (except the inflation) – the 1980s recession was a direct result of the Fed’s tightening of monetary policy to bring inflation down. Look at unemployment and GDP during Reagan’s early years in office, particularly after his first tax cut – 7.5% unemployment when he came into office, up to 10.4% by his third year in office, while GDP declined.

During that same time period, the Fed pumped interest rates up to 20%, which not only hurt America’s economy, but the world economy; however, this did effectively bring inflation down, and once they eased their monetary controls the market boomed back. If you want to give Reagan credit for bringing inflation down, I’d love to know which of his policies you would consider deflationary? Reagan’s own domestic policy advisor, Bruce Bartlett, acknowledges the role of the Fed in reversing stagflation.

If that happened in Bloomberg’s NYC, it probably meant that the teen was given a Taco Bell burrito to eat.

Gabriel, You can’t look at one quote or even the three times this statement of Jesus’ is in the bible and say “see rich people can’t get into heaven.” You have to look at the entire content, you have to understand the time and you have to understand the translation.

At the time of Jesus’ teaching, he believed the Jewish church was out of control with the lust of money. They were running markets inside the temples instead of prayers. Rabbis taught that rich people were blessed by God. That God made them rich because of their goodness.
Jesus saw: Government people were rich from over taxing. Rabbis were rich from taking from the church. Some were rich by taking advantage of other. Many people were getting rich by not following the commandments.
Heaven and eternal life was a new teaching of Jesus.

The full story and translation of the passage you stated is:
A young rich man comes to Jesus and asks how he can get into heaven. Jesus tells him he only needs to follow the ten commandments. When the man seemed to think it was to easy. Jesus then tells the young rich man if he wants to totally ensure his place in heaven, he could sell all of his belongs, give the money to the poor and join Jesus on his mission. The young man refused.
Jesus then told his followers that those who put their trust in riches, more then their trust in God will never make it into heaven. For the young rich man trusted in his money more then he trusted in Jesus.
The camel through the needle is a very poor translation of a very old saying. What Jesus was saying is that riches alone will not get you into heaven as the Rabbis were teaching. That you needed to bow down and humble yourself to God. Jesus doubted that any rich man would do so.

Once they allowed Bloomberg to change the statue on “term limits” so that he could seek a third term and he won that opened the floodgates.

Ratboy, You know why the liberal hacks ask the birth question and the rape question. They want to get on a topic to make the GOP look bad.

What GOP members need to say is, I find it strange that when you apply to run for president you don’t have to prove that you are born in the country. It’s also strange that the media did not look into it in 2008 when the questions where first asked. And that it took Obama three years to finally produce it. There would be no questions about his place of birth today if the President would have provided his birth certificate in 2008. The three year delay leans itself to the many theories of it being faked.

  • Cathy

@Coffee, I find that most people that quote the bible don’t do it from the book itself but from a website. Websites commonly change the wording
“trust in riches” to a rich man. Someone who trusts in riches is that the same thing as a rich man.

Mike W. Changing term limits is something people think Obama will try to do.

I’m watching this because Black Holes are some of my Favorite Things

    @Cathy

I have a Bible Program called bible works, one thing that needs to be looked at is the different translations, and the program I use compares many scriptures to the old Hebrew translations. Revelation was actually translated from the Old Greek text and many words had to be changed later after they discovered some words from Hebrew were translated wrong.
The key is translating ancient Greek to Hebrew then back to your modern language. The key to this Biblical word is knowing that Revelation was written in ancient Greek and not modern Greek and that “ARMAGEDDON” is not one word at all but two words and a name and here it is : AR = (City or Community) , The letter “M” = ( of or from ), The name “AGEDDON” = (Agidion, Giles, EGIDIO, Agidius ).
When these words and this name are now put together here is what it should read:
either – Community of Egidio, Community of Giles, Community of Agedius, Community of Agedion.

To make a very long statement short, too many things are lost in translation by many who don’t know that some words don’t mean the same today as centuries ago.

    Whewww I’m tired now :-)

    You naughty man you

  • Matthew

Ratboy, You know why the liberal hacks ask the birth question and the rape question. They want to get on a topic to make the GOP look bad.

While the intent of the media is clear, such a tactic is only effective if the person they’re questioning has repulsive opinions. You cannot be made to ‘look bad’ by a question if you’re not going to answer that question in the dumbest way possible. These people are not guilty of committing gaffes, or falling for clever media traps, they’re guilty of stating their actual, literal opinions into a microphone.

There would be no questions about his place of birth today if the President would have provided his birth certificate in 2008.

Of course there would – there are still birthers now, after he already produced the birth certificate. First he needs to show his papers, then he needs to show his long-form papers, then his papers were clearly forged, on and on and on…the criticism itself doesn’t matter for these people, it’s the underlying intent: to take away any legitimacy from his presidential victory.
