3/4 Update: No surprises as The Following, New Girl, The Mindy Project & Raising Hope were all renewed.
If you've got the sense that there's not much new I can think of to talk about with Fox show futures this week, you'd be right.

After two successive weeks of 0.7 adults 18-49 ratings for Touch, it is stone cold dead. Treat its Fan Excuse Bingo players with pity. Or derision. At your personal discretion.

The Mindy Project ratings still have it positioned as likely to be renewed.

Where the heck is The Goodwin Games anyway? Other than an episode order reduction from 13 to 7 by Fox already, there's been no more news about it.

The cancellation bear will twiddle his thumbs (such as his paws have) and wait.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the Fox Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

The Goodwin Games may go the way Ben & Kate did, its not as incesty as B&K but then again…

  • Hubert R. Wentland

The Goodwin Games was the only new comedy I was wating for after the upfronts and I have already forgotten about it ever existing. what is going to happen with it?

  • Tested

So far the real positives of Fox’s new shows can be summed up with: The Following – and nothing else. The Mindy Project is just barely okay in the ratings. I can’t imagine Fox giving Touch or anything other than The Following and Mindy renewals for a second season.

  • Phil

Touch just needs more promotion, they hardly advertise the episodes!! It’s like FOX is leaving it out to dry! Plus there’s no Getglue stickers for that show which would help promote more viewers to tune in!! Also Touch is amazing, great writing, better than The Following. Leave Touch alone!

If it gets cancelled, Netflix better scoop it up, or the Syfy channel.

  • Greg

Will they even air The Goodwin Games? It seems there’s no available timeslot unless they reduce AI to 90-minute long shows for seven weeks and I don’t know if they’ll want to do that.

I hope they give the show a chance, though.

  • rob60990

The Goodwin Games will probably be summer burnoff at this point with Hell’s Kitchen taking the Tuesday at 8 timeslot the rest of the season unless they shorten AI to 90 minutes which I don’t see happening.

  • TDawg

Neil Patrick Harris tweeted in November that FOX stopped production on Goodwin Games… that’s the last I ever heard of it.

“Way to go, Fox! You ceased production on the new show Goodwin Games before it even aired! I directed episode 5 – the show is hilarious. #boo”

  • Shepherd

awww… Nothing to see here. I’m not sure whether this is a downgrade for Touch, but it’s about time.

  • Ultima

Neil Patrick Harris tweeted in November that FOX stopped production on Goodwin Games… that’s the last I ever heard of it.

That’s when they cut the order from 13 episodes to 7.

FOX said they still planned on airing it either late spring or summer, but that was before they canceled Ben & Kate and scheduled Hell’s Kitchen (presumably eliminating any chance of an in-season run).

A big YAWN from papa bear

  • ToXiX

Fox Deserved this awful season they are so stupid

  • Tom

Mindy depends entirely on comedy scheduling.

If Fox reverts to Glee/New Girl/NEW COMEDY (with RH in Friday spackle mode), Mindy is probably dead. Fox wouldn’t need two Friday spackle shows in that configuration.

If Fox stays with 4 comedies on Tuesdays, then Mindy probably lives.

Given that Fox has already given up on 4 comedy Tuesdays for this Spring, I think it’s the former, and Mindy is dead.

  • Bill Gorman

“Given that Fox has already given up on 4 comedy Tuesdays for this Spring, I think it’s the former, and Mindy is dead.”

Then you think that Fox will air just 2 sitcoms next season? New Girl & Raising Hope? I’m not ready to guess that.

Or you think they’ll add two more new sitcoms elsewhere on the schedule?

  • moshane58

I liked Touch and now does this mean we don’t get another ending?

  • Flame

It might be delusional, but I still say, ship Goodwin to CBS as a replacement when Mother ends. Yes, I know that would mean to shelf it for a year, which will not happen.

  • JP

Touch is definitely better than last year as the pace has definitely picked up – I would actually say that the last 2 episodes were the best of the series IMO. However, they need to film the series finale soon as this show is completely done and not make the mistake Alacatraz did. Also, there is no way it is better than The Following IMO – one of the best new shows on tv.

  • Oliver

Either Goodwin Games airs in Summer or not at all. It’s dead, Jim.

  • One

The Goodwin Games fell victim to the Becky Newton curse. Clearly the gods don’t want her to become a star. Maybe people think she was too annoying on Ugly Betty or something…

  • RG-X

Hell’s Kitchen making an early Spring return on Tuesdays – It looks like Ben & Kate is gone. Raising Hope will run all their episodes in one-hour runs until Gordon Ramsey Returns late next month…with New Girl & Mindy following HK.

  • Shepherd

    @JP/ moshane58

Touch’s pace has certainly picked up, and I think it’s because they knew from the get-go that this would probably be the final season. I expect things to wrap up fairly nicely and the season finale to easily act as a series finale as well.
