“CULT” MOVES TO FRIDAY NIGHTS AT 9:00

February 27, 2013 (Burbank, CA) ? CULT will move to its new night on Friday, March 8 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), as investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Matt Davis) searches for his missing brother and uncovers the dark underworld of the TV show “Cult” and its rabid fans.  The series also stars Jessica Lucas as Skye Yarrow, Alona Tal as Kelly Collins and Robert Knepper as Billy Grimm.

Encore episodes of CW series will take over the Tuesday, 9:00-10:00 p.m. timeslot, beginning with Beauty And The Beast on March 5.

CULT is from Fake Empire and Rockne S. O’Bannon Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Rockne S. O’Bannon (“Farscape,” “V”), Josh Schwartz (“Chuck,” “Gossip Girl”), Stephanie Savage (“Hart Of Dixie,” “Gossip Girl”) and Len Goldstein (“Hart Of Dixie”).

Just announce that is cancelled already and renew Emily Owens M.D.

  • Justin121

CW is fighting a losing battle with Bueaty and the B.

Tuesday: Hart of Dixie – First Cut

    Thursday: Vamp Die – Cult

Should have been the Fall schedule.

  • THE OLD MAN

    whatever

  • David Howell

Well, this is a sign that the Beasties might get a season 2 against all good sense (HoD would be my bubble show to save on the numbers, and by some margin).

  • Ram510

So CW released the dates for finales yesterday and a day later they move Cult to a new day

  • Holly

    @David Howell,

Any two of HOD, TCD, and BatB can survive, but all three is very unlikely. So the possibility of BatB still having a chance doesn’t hurt HOD any, especially if it keeps last night’s numbers.

  • Justin121

B & B could have been a Friday procedural like CSI or Grimm…

  • Richard Steven Hack

Moving Cult to Fridays merely means the show will drop at least a couple of tenths of a point in ratings. The show is doomed – it will be canceled at end of its first season. They just want to burn off the show on Friday so as to try to get a little more ad revenue in its current time slot with something else.

I don’t see how this improves BATB’s chances at all. It’s average is still .65 and that’s going to drop over the next two months, reruns or not. By end of its run, its average is likely to be .55 or.5. For a first season run that’s cancellation.

Carrie Diaries is in even worse shape at .51 already. It’s doomed.

All three of these plus 90210 are going to be canceled IMO.

HoD is the ONLY low-rated CW show that has a shot at another season – besides Nikita, of course – and for the same reason: syndication.

  • omabin

At least they are stopping with the crazy amount of TCD’s repeats. They could give Nikita a shot in there, just an episode, it wouldn’t hurt.

    @Bill Gorman,

Firefox has been trying to block me the access to your website, claiming it has malware. Should I be worried?

  • chris23

CW is smart for moving Cult to Fridays following Nikita at 9. Repeats typically do low numbers of .2-.4 depending on which show repeats, but typically it is more on the .2 and .3 range. Cult average a .2 and 640,000 viewers last week on Friday Night at 9 which wasn’t too far off from its original airing of .3 and 860k viewers. The numbers are horrible, but I must agree that the numbers would look better on Friday Nights because either way it is going to bomb. I do believe if the repeat did that .2 it might be possible for Cult to still get the .3 on Friday Nights.

Everybody keeps thinking that Hart of Dixie will get axed if Beauty is renewed. Well it won’t. Hart of Dixie is not a strong show, nor should it ever be a leadin show on the CW again. But out of all the bubble shows this one has the most stability. CW has 3 shows renewed. I see atleast 3-4 more being picked up, that is if the CW only premieres 3 new shows in the Fall. I wouldn’t be surprised if CW tried to put the reality show The Hunt which sounds interesting from Summer to Fall and premiere 3 scripted shows, possibly saving 2 for midseason.

It was said before cult premiered it came down to these shows battling to continue on the CW schedule, Hart of Dixie, 90210, Carrie, CULT, Nikita, and Beauty and the Beast.

Well no way is Carrie and Cult getting renewed so that saves a lot of trouble. I don’t think 90210 deserves a renewal but who knows what CW will do. If Beauty can try to stabilize with its own following and it did get renewed, Hart of Dixie is safe no matter what, Nikita is too due to syndication purposes, not to mention if HOD is renewed it is a lock for S4.

The Upfronts for the CW will be real interesting to watch this fall. It will be a bloodbath here on TVBTN depending on which shows are renewed versus cancelled, not to mention I’m very interested in their scheduling for next year more than anything!

  • Tyson

The malware message is gone. That’s good.

Too bad for Cult fans. Their show is doomed.

  • starship

Carried Diaries is ending in April, i.e. they don’t want to keep it for sweeps, i.e. it’s getting cancelled. Cult pulled a 0.3 for it’s premiere and din’t improve this week so it’s shipped to Fridays, i.e. it’s getting cancelled. If the CW don’t do any reality shows in the Fall and they only launch 3 new dramas (which would still leave one time slot open), 90210 is getting a final season (no matter how low the ratings are), long-running show doing well internationally + more episodes = more syndication money. In that case Hart of Dixie (for a full season) and Beauty and the Beast (for at least 13 episodes) will also be safe. If the CW decide to air Top Model in the fall and have some other reality show or launch 4 or more new dramas, it will be between 90210 and BATB for renewal (and most likely 90210 will win).

  • Beauty and the flop

Batb still getting canceled lol. Repeats wont do more than 0.3 and new thurs spring episodes will get 0.4. Give up, dumbies!

  • Tracy

Love this show. Sure would be nice if they gave it a chance. :(

  • Ray

The show would have had a better chance if they’d made it about TVBTN, with Robert and Bill as the cult leaders and the bear as the disposer.

  • Lauren

The awkward moment when a Ringer fan calls Hart Of Dixie a flop.

  • L

Actually a much better suited time slot for the show, and may actually help increase it’s ratings…

Clever move to test BATB in the Tuesday slot; preparing for next season, much?
Unfortunately CW need to clean the deck on Monday’s and find a new niche for it because tween soaps aren’t working anymore.

  • Oliver

I’m not convinced 9pm Friday is much of a downgrade. It’s unlikely to survive, but, if anything, it has a better shot in that timeslot.

  • gerry

they should have moved batb originals starting in the spring to open up that slot after tvd for cult. then they may have had a different situation on their hands.

  • DW

yes this means that it can go from a 0.3 to a possible , just possible 0.4. just renew this already. :)
