    …while regulating Touch to Hulu…

    Dontcha mean relegating?

It’s a burnoff. I knew CW should have aired Cult after VD and moved BATB to Tuesdays. Both Cult and BATB will be axed in May

  • Psac

I really wanted to like this show, but at best it’s just “meh.”

  • Chelle

Bring back Emily Owens! I will never be okay with the ‘ending’ we got shafted with.

    Sincerely, delusional fan.

i think it will do better on friday, might keep most of Nikitas viewers and mybe to an 0.4 demo

Guess Cult can’t do much worse on Fridays than it is doing on Tuesdays. CW must be looking at some really bad numbers to ship it off this quick though. But since they are moving it to Fridays, why did they yank this Friday’s repeat and replace with a VD repeat?

Wonder if new episodes of Cult will do better than repeats of Carrie Diaries or Beauty on Friday. The last few Friday repeats of CD did a .3 and about 630,000 while Beauty’s only Friday repeat (other than premiere week 1.4mil/0.4) in January earned a .3 and 900,000.

I thought the CW release said that there would be rotating repeats on Tuesdays but Beauty is getting all of the Tuesdays in March. Is it staying that way in April too or will they repeat a different show throughout the month of April?

  • SueP

That actually is better for me. Too much established competition on Tuesdays. I was planning on watching it on Fridays (if they kept re-airing it there) anyway. It’s a cool concept. I haven’t seen the second ep yet, but I liked the pilot.

I never got interested in the show because the promos never gave me anything to get interested about. I know they want to keep the plot a secret because of the nature of the show but I think with this one they overdid it and shot themselves in the foot. The show has already aired and still no one knows what it is about beyond a crazy TV show fan following and a missing person’s case, neither of which have the appeal of, lets say, a guy coming back from a scary island and turning vigilante.

Any idea of what may have caused the problem, that you would be at liberty of disclosing? A false positive? A lot of unhappy people reporting the site, to watchdogs, as being unsafe? Just curious. I had the warning around 2pm PT yesterday, and went around it; nothing was downloaded locally and I didn’t detect any abnormal activities.

i agree..they should have put batb in that slot and cult after tvd to begin with…wish they had just given emily owens a full season, it was a really good show…

  • charmedcraft

I think it’s good to try BATB on Tuesdays; until Cult, there was nothing really to watch on Tuesdays. Now atleast there’s still something I can tune in to. Same thing Friday, nothing on at 7 but I can watch Cult at 8 or record it.

is this site still safe to be on? my google chrome is telling me it detects malware..love this site but i dont want a virus.

Malware was deposited on our site. Not clear how it happened. We’re as sure as we can be at this point that it is now gone. There still are some issues related to Google’s clearance of some of our URLs that we are working through, but tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com is now being reported clean by Google Safe Browsing.

Bill: As a guy into computer security, let me warn you. Make sure your patches for the site’s software are always up to date. And you might want to scan the site regularly with a malware detector and a vulnerability detector.

Especially run a SQL injection vulnerability scanner as SQL injection is how a lot of sites get penetrated. If you using a WAF (a Web application firewall), realize that it’s almost trivially easy to bypass those.

The main way malware is distributed these days is by hackers penetrating Web sites and dropping malware on the site to be picked up by those poor souls running Windows – as opposed to smart people like me who run Linux! :-) This is something that is only going to get worse, too, because Web software is frequently designed without any or at least very poor consideration for security.

  • herpderp

I bet it was Bondoel behind the malware attacks.

Re Cult: Are you people crazy? Cult is not going to “do better” on Fridays! And even if it does, “better” is at best going to be a one tenth point increase from .3 to .4! It’s not going to match Nikita and even if it did it means nothing because it’s a first season show.

Read my lips. The show is DOOMED. It’s over. Stick a fork in it. Hasta la vista, baby!

They moved it to Friday because it’s a total disaster and they want to burn the episodes off, then cancel it. If they were really smart, they’d just cancel it and put on a second rerun episode of Nikita! :-)

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

RSH, Thanks. We have now ratcheted up our security processes, including many of the things you suggested.

Cult should have premiered after TVD at least for the first episode. Not only do they fit together more tonally, but they should have touted Cult as starring TVD’s former series regular, Matthew Davis, which was definitely underplayed. Nikita is actually a much better lead-in despite being on Fridays and up against Grimm when it returns.

Hart of Dixie was such a terrible lead-in for Cult and should have been the lead-in for The Carrie Diaries instead. It’s weird they made TCD stand all alone on Mondays.

    *sigh* my predictions…
    cancelled: Cult, Carrie Diaries, 90210
renewed: Nikita, Hart of Dixie (moved to Mondays), Beauty and the Beast (moved to Fridays)
already renewed: Supernatural (moved to Tuesdays), launch new series behind network hits Arrow and Vampires Diaries
open slots for new shows: 4

  • Oliver

    @kalena henden

The 8pm local affiliate lead-in is bigger than most of The CW’s shows. The post-HoD slot is almost certainly a worse timeslot than Monday 8pm.

  • Richard Steven Hack

And by the way, Cult hasn’t been hit with the spring downturn yet! Imagine what it will do with another tenth or two-tenths of a point knocked off! :-)

Really, the CW should just pull it and air ANYTHING in its place! :-)
