@MickeyO
I still have some of the background reporters chat stuff I get on my phone; I’m hearing some things about an all-out battle in the Administration on how to deal with these cuts. The fear is as this is dragged out and the mid-terms looming next year the WH is in total panic mode.
Reason being, a bunch of ad’s are ready showing the cuts were the brainchild of this WH and this President and they really fear the ad’s will have a huge impact on the Mid-Terms, where History already shows a sitting second term President doesn’t fair to well and loses allot of seats.
The investors are starting to get a little jittery? The whole market world wide is getting sick

*President’s plan: $1 trillion in new taxes…
This link provides a good read
http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/022813-646267-obama-labels-new-revenues-as-spending-cuts.htm
@Coffee steve I seen one of those ads on TV is was quite good, starts off that the cuts were Obama’s idea and then shows ist not cuts but a small reduction in the budget that is still bigger then last year budget. then end is the good part, has can being kicked can gets bigger and it has Obams picture on the can. Tells you to call Obama to stop kicking the can.
d.d. wrote: “…This morning, I noted that — taken in context — what Gene Sperling wrote to Bob Woodward “DIDN’T” qualify as an outright “threat,” at least to me. (True)”
Not an outright threat but just as ominous a warning, sort of like “be careful, you’re getting into lion territory”. I guess Gene Sperling might wish he had used smilies in the email.
@Coffee Steve Saw that article he has about 300 billion in proposed spendting cuts are actually revenue increases.
Example
His plan strengthen unemployment insurance label a cut but really a 50 billion tax hike.
Calls 35 billion in medicare saving comes for charging weathy senoirs more.
Then there’s the $45 billion in spectrum fees and asset sales that Obama lists as spending reductions.
The $140 billion in “reduced payments to drug companies” are in fact rebates Obama wants drugmakers to pay Uncle Sam for selling drugs to poor seniors.
the last one is classic if drug company gives rebates to uncle Sam. How will drug companies pay for it ?? I guess higher prices on their drugs
D.D.
I agree with your post on the Woodward/Sperling confrontation. I saw the interview Woodward had on Hannity last night to see how he framed it. His view was as you said. He did not characterize it as a “threat” but rather, as an old advertising campaign was said, “is this anyway to run an airline” (in this case he said White House).
Coffee Steve
The economy could fall back into recession. Technically this would take about 6 months since the common economic definition of a recession is 2 successive quarters of negative GDP. Since the 4th quarter 2012 GDP was revised from negative .1% to positive .1% there is a reset. Unfortunately, even though we are not in a recession, technically, we are certainly not in a “robust” recovery. The economy continues to be disappointing but the stock market rolls on.
Hiya Apple
I have been enjoying your vids.
@MickeyO & Mike W
Very good points in both your post. Another thing to consider is that Washington did not take into account the effect Obamacare will have in addition to the cuts and the slowing economy. As Mickey pointed out with each new program from the drug companies as they adjust to the new rules and guidelines is that all these new cost will be passed on to the consumer.
Many people don’t even realize that we are already paying an over the counter drug tax to aspirin’s, cough meds, etc… It was added on and started on January 1st. Of course the wonderful Pravda press failed to mention that except for a couple of stories here and there. We now also have a Medical Device tax added on as well, and does anyone think the companies are paying for that without raising the cost?
Many tests I take are now requiring me to pay for it if I have them more than the guideline allows. Many of these I need 2 times a year to monitor certain levels, now they are only covered 1 time every 18 months. So much for the preventive measures I take to help keep the cost down for higher illness payments down the road huh?
And my favorite, if you have a heart attack and the hospital sends you home early thinking you’re safe and during a grace period you have another? The hospital may not be allowed to take you back.
This nightmare has just begun and the economy is going Bass Akwards.
Sunshine ,
Canada has to to pretty cold right now. Bundle up.

Doctors don’t trust their own hospitals
UK Telegraph
Up to two-thirds of doctors and nurses at some hospitals would not recommend that their family and friends are treated where they work, internal NHS figures disclose on Friday.

EEEEEEK ……… I can’t take it . One of my stories refuses to go through . I changed the story 20 times…. words left out or changed . TVBTN’s doesn’t like the subject matter.
Here’s an early link without the subject matter. This is the same program hmmm hmm just engaged in early because of budget cuts.

@d.d.
Get this, my wife works at a major hospital here, they are having meetings about turning away Medicare patients next year, they haven’t decided fully yet, and may just cut back on them but some of the things they have had meetings about, you would think we live in Russia now.
Can you imagine the panic if many hospitals do this? The Government won’t forse hospitals to take the Medicare assigment cuts will they? Wouldn’t that be like a Dictorship? To force a hospital to lose money?
This is getting to be the Twilight Zone…BUT remember now, as nancy said, we had to pass it BEFORE we got to see what was in the Bill.
Good Morning everyone.
The sequester is teaching us many things. I believe the most important is being over looked by many. And it’s a non-partition question, “Why does the Federal Government have so much control over local issues as education, police and fire?” Money for these programs need to be left in the local area.
The feds takes up to three times the money that the states do today. Then the federal government uses the states own money to make the state bend to the well of the federal government. Remember National Maximum Speed Law? States had to reduce speed on Interstates to 55 or loss federal bridge and expressway repair and maintenance money. What is worse then being BLACKMAILED with your own money? Oh, sorry. That is second to being killed without due process.
@sunshine
Thanks!

Good Post by the way.
Dear Mr. President, your policies aren’t working Sir…..
*INCOMES DROP MOST IN 20 YEARS
Consumer spending in the U.S. rose in January even as incomes dropped by the most in 20 years, showing households were weathering the payroll-tax increase by socking away less money in the bank.

The right wing GOP continues to box themselves in and set the dems up for the 2014 elections, driven by the absurd right wing philosophies. The right wingers have very little education and are driven by people like the slimebaugh, Beck, and Fox Fake News. The good thing is the American people are on Obama’s side even more now than before the election……even the GOP moderates are against the right wing backward thinkers….
d.d. & Coffee Steve
If you have access to today’s WSJ there is an interesting article on how some of the pricing for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is being determined. It goes into how contracts between hospital consortiums and the insurance companies are being constructed. The exchange plans that are being offered are multi-tiered plans with smaller networks of providers offered in each tier.
Looks like there is less and less chance of you keeping your plan or doctor(s).
This just in: This just in: The U.S. economy should emerge from the doldrums next year if the Federal Reserve sticks to its super-easy monetary policies, a top Fed official said on Thursday…..given the backward thinking, uneducated right wing doesn’t interfere with progress…….
Obamacare will result in a healthier poplulation and therefore uch lower healthcare costs indirectly AND it will bring down helathcare directly, putting a stop to exorbitantly high rips offs occurring today. This is already taking affect. Many new forms of healthcare delivery are underway now, too…..The backward thinking right wing wants to keep healthcare costs increasing 100% every 10 years so no one will be able to afford it…and some in the industry are quite content with this, too. But this will change……
