Here's the release.
AFTER FIVE SEASONS,
“90210” BIDS FAREWELL
WITH A SERIES FINALE ON MAY 13
THE CW ANNOUNCES SEASON FINALE DATES
FOR ITS PRIMETIME SERIES
February 28, 2013 (Burbank, CA) ? After five seasons of new loves, old flames and shocking betrayals, the stars of 90210 will bid farewell to the world-famous zip code, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW. With seven original episodes left to air, the show will sign off with a series finale on Monday, May 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).
“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Pedowitz. “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”
During this final season, the characters put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly High behind them and launched into adulthood, with only their friendships to lean on. The series stars Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Jessica Stroup as Silver, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan and Matt Lanter as Liam Court.
90210 is produced by CBS Television Studios with executive producers Patti Carr (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”) and Lara Olsen (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”).

Not surprising at all. Quality dipped every season, of course they’re losing fans. That, and the decline of The CW overall.
Shocking.
Best decision for everyone involved – and the CW maintains there montra of treating long-running series with a proper ending as the writers are still working on the last batch of episodes.
Hopefully they have enough time to craft a real series finale.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL big suprise
Does that mean Hart of Dixie ,The Carrie Darires and Beauty And The Beast all get renewed ??????
Sorry for the Fans but the Show was too weak to get a Final Season.
That’s expected, but can they find something better to replace it next year?
@Jonay,
I would wager a guess that this is at least good news for HOD and TCD. I honestly cannot see the CW canceling all 3 of their Monday shows (including ‘Gossip Girl’).
thank god
Where’s Brandy and Alan? Oh how I’d love to see their faces right now!
As long as the show gets a proper ending, then I’m happy. Ever since season 4 started, the quality of the show has been poor. Seasons 1-3 were actually pretty amazing, IMO.
I think this is good news for TCD, I really can’t see The CW cancelling both their Monday shows and having to start fresh on that day.
@Steve
Well, they can hardly do much worse.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. I’d wager that CW let the show runners know they were going to be canceled at least a month ago.
I wonder if they hit a 0.1 by the end of the season…
Plus, Adrianna is hotter than hell. I’m sorry about her.
I knew they were gonna cancel it. I was just wondering when. As a fan of the show I’m glad they decided now instead of later. They should be able to tie up loose end and send it off properly with the remaining episodes.
Unless the writers and producers were notified prior to this, they actually don’t have a a “batch of episodes” left to work on. They’re currently filming the finale. I hope they have time for actual closure.
This sucks it was my favorite show on TV
they deserved a final season 6 and now cancelling the season they better change the end because i dont want a series finale to end with a cliffending!!!
This surprised me a lot, looks like they’ll have to wrap it up in May then. I still haven’t seen the financial numbers that were released this week but I heard 90210 declined overseas a lot this year so the trend wasn’t just in the home country.
I’m curious to see how the rest of their lineup shakes out. I could see them cancelling one more, but I could also see them keeping the rest if their pilots turn out really badly. This isn’t surprising in any way.
