THE CW ANNOUNCES SEASON FINALE DATES

FOR ITS PRIMETIME SERIES

February 28, 2013 (Burbank, CA) ? After five seasons of new loves, old flames and shocking betrayals, the stars of 90210 will bid farewell to the world-famous zip code, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW.   With seven original episodes left to air, the show will sign off with a series finale on Monday, May 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Pedowitz.  “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”

During this final season, the characters put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly High behind them and launched into adulthood, with only their friendships to lean on.  The series stars Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Jessica Stroup as Silver, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan and Matt Lanter as Liam Court.

90210 is produced by CBS Television Studios with executive producers Patti Carr (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”) and Lara Olsen (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”).

Well at least it will be given an ending.
CW is moving away from the Dawn era of soaps, this doesn’t change anything for bubble shows with terrible ratings.

  • Guest

Sad, but not surprise. Will miss it.

  • Jerry

90210 had one of the better all-around young talented casts on TV the past five years, there are going to be some actors available for the other networks or movie studios.

  • Tommy

    @Kate

I’m assuming they were as MP stated in the press release that the series finale will be “full of closure”.

  • João

i knew this was coming but i can’t help feeling sad ):

  • Connman

Thank goodness – only took them 5 years!

  • JulieDawn

Could be good news for the BATB fans but it’s sad for 90210 fans, and everyone connected with the show who has lost their job.

  • Jerry

BATB financial numbers were looking good overseas so expect that show to be back unlike TSC. Not sure about Carrie Diaries or Cult just yet since those two shows weren’t in the reports.

  • Freyja

Not really surprised they canceled it, but surprised they didn’t give it more notice or even a 13 episode proper ending like GG. However; it was one remake that never needed to be remade.

  • Nerdbot

I thought it’d have a short final season as Gossip Girl (with its woeful ratings) and One Tree Hill had, so I’m little bit surprised. Anyway, I don’t really care about this show, because the only one I watch of The CW is Nikita.

  • starship

It’s sad, in May the show will have a total of 114 episodes, only 7 less than Gossip Girl, who were allowed a proper series finale despite their pathetic numbers. Pedowitz should have at least told the writers before hand to write for a series finale, just in case they didn’t get renewed because from all the spoilers I’ve heard the finale is meant to be filled with lots of drama and they’re filming this week, so no time for a whole episode re-write either. Hope the writers manage to pull a miraculous last minute re-write of the ending to satisfy long term fans, kind of like Life Unexpected did when they got cancelled while filming the last episode.

  • Brandy

@Dave, im here.Im ok because I knew this would happen someday and was a strong possibilty now given its reccent ratings. It wasnt/isnt my favorite tv or CW show but I like it even though I admit seasons four and five havent been as goid as the first 2_3.Im ok cause fans will get a proper ending.Im not a crazy delisounial hard core 90210 fan, just someone that ,like others, thought it might get a final season.

  • Louisa

Well this isn’t surprising. I was a fan of the show but season 4 and 5 have not been good, I really enjoyed 1-3 but the whole transition into college did not work, so i’m not sad to see it go. It had a good run.

  • Rachel

Where are all the delusionists who said this would get a 10 episode final season?

The ratings are abysmal. Much worse than GG and OTH when they were given final seasons.

  • panda22

@ Brandy [virtual hug] .,,,sók, Rachel will be over with some ice cream and The Notebook soon :)

  • John A

It will be a rushed Finale just like Private Practice was. At least CW made the good decision.

  • panda22

I called it being axed and no back order….I *suggested* that **if** it did get renewed it would be a 10 episode mid season order.

  • DM

Chances are the network told the writers before they told the press. Even if they didn’t the writers could not have been surprised. They saw the numbers. They are worse than GG’s 5th season and OTH was going to get a final season regardless. A show does not need an entire season or even half a season to wrap things up, only a few episodes.

  • John A

I never thought the show was that bad dont undestand the hate. Probably Nikita fans picking on it.

  • Rachel

    @Panda22

Lol. I really don’t mean to be an ass but those ratings are not final season worthy. Especially when they have time to wrap things up.
