THE CW ANNOUNCES SEASON FINALE DATES

FOR ITS PRIMETIME SERIES

February 28, 2013 (Burbank, CA) ? After five seasons of new loves, old flames and shocking betrayals, the stars of 90210 will bid farewell to the world-famous zip code, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW.   With seven original episodes left to air, the show will sign off with a series finale on Monday, May 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Pedowitz.  “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”

During this final season, the characters put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly High behind them and launched into adulthood, with only their friendships to lean on.  The series stars Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Jessica Stroup as Silver, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan and Matt Lanter as Liam Court.

90210 is produced by CBS Television Studios with executive producers Patti Carr (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”) and Lara Olsen (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”).

    What does November 2012 have to do with March 2013?

  • Brad

    Elementary will barely scrape to a second Season and Vegas is likely canceled.

    Those numbers mean squat. They sell TV shows every year overseas that get canceled. It means nothing.

    I see so many people who think Supernatural will get an 8:00 slot. I’m not so sure. It has always been a 9:00 show, and it has levels of gore to justify it being on at 9:00 instead of 8:00. It will be a dilemma for the CW. Do they keep the one night of the week that is actually working intact? Or do they split Arrow and Supernatural and hope they can use them to get 2 nights that work? I’m sure there will be lots of discussions about what to do with these shows. Supernatural has shown that it has a fanbase that will follow it practically anywhere, so they may move it. In my heart of hearts I root for Monday because Supernatural started on Tuesday. Supernatural Beginnings was shown on Sundays when the WB had Sunday programming. It moved to Thursdays. It moved to Fridays. It moved to Wednesdays. Monday is the only day it hasn’t run, so why not give it a shot to run the board? The problem is that Monday would pit it against The Voice and the CBS comedies, so who knows.

    I”am definitely saddened by the cancelation of 90210 but I know that it”s how show business it comes & goes but there will always be something better that comes along so here is what they already have got rid of & is going get rid of is the CW Network have already cancel Gossip Girl,Emily Owens,MD,90210,& next on the chopping block will be Cult.so the fall shecdule shall be like this:starting with
    Monday

    9:00pm Hart of Dixie{new day}
    Tuesday
    8:00pm B&TB{New Day&time}
    9:00pm Nitika {New Day&time }
    Wednesday
    8:00pm Arrow

    So, with 90210 gone — that’s it for the Dawn O girldramas.

    I just have this feeling that Mark P is going to clean house if he can — with 4-5 hours of new programming.
    I think Nikita is likely renewal, HOD on the bubble, BATB Likely cancelled, Carrie & Cult certain to be cancelled.

    As far as the schedule goes, Arrow, SPN, TVD & Nikita will stay right where they are on the schedule so that no promotion $ needs to used on publicizing the move – the CW can’t afford to fix what ain’t broke.
    I bet the CW focuses on one night – Mon or Tues and attempts to build a whole new night with whichever of the pilots are strongest and hopes to shore up Thursdays with The Originals.

    R: “The CW runs at a loss. The operational cost of the network is written off by its parent companies because of the money they make from syndication, DVD sales, international sales and everything else”

    Yes, Understood. And irrelevant as to how the shows are chosen to be renewed on the network – except in the one case of a show being given the option of renewal for a season three based on syndication potential.

    Just like EVERY OTHER NETWORK!

    I haven’t said anything whatever against that fact.

    “That is what has kept Nikita and Hart of Dixie on air.”

    Yes. Which I’ve said.

    “If The Carrie Diaries and Beauty and the Beast remain on air, it will be for the reason.”

    NO. Because neither has ANY CHANCE of syndication being utter failures in their FIRST SEASON. Again, if that were not true, EVERY show would run four season and get syndication! It does NOT work that way!

    “It’s a balancing act between keeping those affiliates happy and trying to get their shows to 88 episodes.”

    Absolutely not. You cannot cite one single link to prove that. The link provided so far does NOT prove that. They talk primarily about SYNDICATION – and we KNOW how syndication works. It does NOT work the way you are describing – keep EVERY low-rated crap show on the air JUST to get to syndication.

    No network does that. The CW has never done that. Period. End of story.

  • Rare

    Good news for Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, and Beauty and the Beast.

  • Eric_Philly

    Victory!

  • Richard Steven Hack

    Rare: “Good news for Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, and Beauty and the Beast.”

    Nope. Only if the CW really has NO other options than sparing TWO of those three.

    HoD has little to worry about as it’s stable and has syndication potential for a season three.

    TCD is doomed. BATB is likely to be doomed by end of its season. Neither has syndication potential and have pathetic ratings for first season shows.

    Cult is already done for, of course.

    Here are 2 alternate schedules.. One with arrow and Spn staying together. The second schedule splitting them apart. I personally like Arrow and SuperNaturaL together on Wednesday Nights but I can fully understand CW taking any kind of chances with more stable leadins for next season.

    Schedule 1:

    Mon 8 Tomorrow People 9 Oxygen
    Tue 8 Hundred 9 Beauty and the Beast
    Wed 8 ARROW 9 SuperNaturaL
    Thu 8 TVD 9 The Originals
    Fri 8 Nikita 9 Hart of Dixie

    Midseason The Selection, Americas Next Top Model, The Hunt

    Schedule 2:

    Mon 8 The Selection 9 The Hunt (reality series) *theme Night* lol
    Tue 8 Tomorrow People 9 SuperNatuaL
    Wed 8 ARROW 9 OXYGEN
    Thu 8 Vampire Diaries 9 Originals
    Fri 8 Nikita 9 Hart of Dixie

    Midseason: Hundred, Beauty and the Beast, and Americas Next Top Model

    I totally understand and admit my schedules are both realistic and unrealistic, more in regards to my second schedule. I don’t think Carrie deserves a renewal. If cw canceled pathetic 90210 for its low ratings, Carrie is only a tenth higher as of late and barely hit 1 million even last week. Carrie, Cult, 90210 are gone!!!

  • getmilk

    LOL! Good riddance. Now bring back The LA Complex already.

  • matt

    Pedowitz is a damn hippocrate! If he believes in a proper ending, then he could have given proper endings to the fans of Ringer and The Secret Circle!!!

  • BPKK

    @DougF

    Beauty usually seems to rank second or third in the weekly W18-34 demo behind VD, at least since returning from the break. The averages here put Hart & Beauty in a tie with Arrow and SPN behind them. Is there some place that ranks the show or lists each shows W18-34 season avg?

    W18-34 I’m not even bothering with VD cuz it’s #1 by a long shot but last week’s W18-34 ranking after VD goes Beauty (.9) Hart & Arrow (.8) Carrie & SN (.7) Nikita & 90210 (.3) & Cult (.2)

    Week of Jan 21st which was the first week Carrie and a new episode of Beauty aired after the break W18-34 rankings after Vampire Diaries are Hart (1.0) Beauty (.9) Carrie, Arrow & SN (.8) 90210 (.7) Nikita (.5)

    Week of Jan. 28 after VD it’s Carrie (1.0) BatB & Hart (.8) 90210 & SPN (.7)
    Arrow (.6) Nikita (.4)

  • BPKK

    @matt

    I think Pedowitz said proper endings for long running shows.

  • MikeyM

    I wish the CW would stop with the prequels, reboots and teen love stories.

  • David Howell

    Interesting numbers. I personally think that at this point the bubble race is close enough that Retentionista arguments win out (they wouldn’t if it wasn’t close, but it is, just as it was when TSC went!) and BATB is cancelled.

    That also means you keep one recognised show on Mondays. But TCD being cancelled would open up Monday for genre shows.

    MON: TCD/Selection
    TUE: HOD/new drama
    WED: Arrow/SPN
    THU: TVD/Originals
    FRI: Nikita/reruns or unscripted

  • networkman

    Finally! I applaud the CW for making this decision. There is no need to bring 90210 back for a shortened season with 10-13 episodes. The ratings are extremely low and the quality of the show is decreasing. The network gave the producers enough time to wrap things up properly. This show being a remake/reboot from an original show had a decent run.

  • Quirk

    According to the financial reports it looks like Beauty and the Beast has value already in international sales, ratings aren’t too bad domestically, and its the only CBS production remaining on the network.

    Looks like Nikita is making more money this year than last year.

    90320 just wasn’t a profitable program anymore and it was time to move. At least it ran for 5 years for a reboot. Most of these reboots don’t even make it out of the gate their first season.

  • CrimTV

    @Billy martins

    In NO way is The CW going to move Supernatural back to Fridays next season when it knows it can score 0.9-1.1 elsewhere and there is also no way they will move Nikita from a Friday!

  • Justin121

    CW currently has 5 shows certain to return: top 3 + Nikita and HoD.

    That leaves 5 hours free.

    1 for ANTM.

    3 for 3 new shows.

    1 for Beast or Carrie.

    OR

    2 for 2 new shows.

    2 for Beast and Carrie.

    So at least one will be renewed. Possibly two.

    But The Carrie Diaries finishes in April (never a good sign)

    and I can easily see Beast fall to a 0.4 by May.

    Will the CW renew a show that pulls 0.5s and 0.4s post-Vampire Diaries?

    No way the CW premeires 4 shows in the Fall. Never.
