THE CW ANNOUNCES SEASON FINALE DATES

FOR ITS PRIMETIME SERIES

February 28, 2013 (Burbank, CA) ? After five seasons of new loves, old flames and shocking betrayals, the stars of 90210 will bid farewell to the world-famous zip code, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW.   With seven original episodes left to air, the show will sign off with a series finale on Monday, May 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Pedowitz.  “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”

During this final season, the characters put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly High behind them and launched into adulthood, with only their friendships to lean on.  The series stars Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Jessica Stroup as Silver, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan and Matt Lanter as Liam Court.

90210 is produced by CBS Television Studios with executive producers Patti Carr (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”) and Lara Olsen (“Life Unexpected,” “Private Practice”).

THANK YOU CW FOR SEEING THE LIGHT!

  • Olka

So soon, but hopefully they might have time to wrap things up.

On the one hand, Mark Pedowitz cancels Gossip Girl and 90210 in the same season.

On the other hand, he picks up The Carrie Diaries, Emily Owens, M.D., and Beauty and the Beast, like a younger, more naive, inexperienced version of Dawn Ostroff.

At least Ostroff came up with ‘edgy’ girly dramas. His have been weak.

Does anybody notice how when Supernatrual is placed at 9 pm, CW comes up with an 8 pm hit?

    First V_Diaries, then Arrow.

Next stop: Monday. OR Tuesday. Arrow and Daries got W and Th covered. SPN and HoD should cover Mon and Tues.

  • Tony ^_^

Lol… Finally The CW does something right!

  • Glue

No. Didn’t they already write and film all episodes? If its not a proper ending, I’ll be pissed.

    90210 was great this season.
BTW if they would have kept 90210 on Tuesday’s at 8:00, then it would have kept its 0.6-0.7’s

  • Dillan

They’re filming the final right now. I’m pretty sure it will have a proper ending.

The Carrie Diaries and Cult are done, there is almost no chance for a renewal there, Carrie is already at a .4 and Cult at a .3, Beaty and the Beast is a Bubble show, it has huge competition on its Thursday slot. As long as it stays around the .5-.7 range, it might get a renewal. Hart of Dixie will get renewed for sure.

    @Justin121

The CW premiered four new shows last season in the fall: Hart of Dixie, Ringer, H8R and The Secret Circle.

I’m really sad 90210 won’t get a final season, but IMO it feels like a final season to me anyway. Hope some former cast return for the finale!

  • Red Jane

Good news for Hart of Dixie though a renewal is not guaranteed yet… Fingers crossed… This second season has been much better in terms of writing even if ratings still mediocre…

  • Spence

Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast are going to be renewed!
    Mark my words

  • mike

Just when I was starting to get good again. I’ll admit the first half of the season was boring but once the liam kidnapping stuff happened the show was back on track.

I would of been nice to see Lori Loughlin, Dustin Milligan, Jenny Garth, the teacher, and Naomi’s sister back, and Annie and Dixon’s dad and Jessica Walter back for the final episode but I doubt that could happen now.

  • Bob

Boo!!!! I loved the show. This is a sucky year for me….Let’s hope my next favorite show Guys with Kids somehow gets saved!

  • tommie

Unless Beauty & the Beast pulls decent ratings for their Tuesday reruns I see both it and The Carrie Diaries getting cancelled. Now that they have three shows that they can consider at an acceptable level (TVD, Arrow, SPN), plus low-rated but stable Hart of Dixie and Nikita taking up the Friday slot, they can afford to reboot either Monday or Tuesdays entirely.

I don’t see them giving any show a pity renewal considering how quickly they moved Cult to Fridays and now with the cancellation of 90210. Mark Pedowitz might go on about online platforms but I think he’s intent to build the network up again after the disaster Ostroff left.

  • Dan

@Richard Steven Hack – No, The CW wouldn’t put 2 new shows on Mondays hoping they will succeed. Thats how CBS or ABC runs but The CW will always renew something low rated for 13 episodes so they can air something else as a midseason replacement.

Like R stated, CW runs at a loss they are not a successful network by any means and its rare that they even got 2 well performing shows in the past 7 years on the air. I’m surprised if any show is a hit this fall and if the CW will survive past 2016. We seem to agree on CW’s 3 high rated dramas spreading out from Tues-Thurs to launch new shows. What I don’t see is CW airing a fourth drama in the fall where they would rather save it for midseason.

@Tommie – 3 shows doing well plus Hart of Dixie and Nikita isn’t enough. They wont air 5 new shows in the fall period. Its more likely that they will have 6 returning dramas, 3 new dramas, 1 rerun slot and 1 or 2 new dramas for midseason in their back pocket.

The CW isn’t doing well, its doing OK but it shouldn’t get on its high horse just yet.

  • Dan

@Justin 121 – That’s true when VD aired Thursdays at 8, SPN was there at 9, when Arrow premiered Wed at 8, SPN was there at 9. Maybe CW will air Supernatural at 8 Tuesdays to help launch another new drama.

Everyone seems to agree that CW should spread its 3 winning dramas Tues-Thursday and launch 3 new dramas in those slots. That’s a no brainer. But CW still has Monday to worry about. I see Hart of Dixie returning to mondays at 8 or 9. Its possible they cancel The Carrie Diaries, but 4 new dramas Mon-Thurs is a risk I’m not sure The CW is ready to take.

  • psychic

    Duh.
    That thing was an embarassment.

  • Dave S.

People need to dial back the cancel everything button. It is not smart business. I think it is safe to say Cult will not make it. Beyond that one more show will likely be cancelled. Right now I would guess TCD goes. There are financial factors we don’t know, international sales, internet views and digital sales. I am guessing what is profitable stays. I am also guessing we really don’t know which shows on the bubble those are.

  • Liam

The CW actually did something good for a show. If the series was renewed the ratings would crash even further next year. The series started off as the most watched premiere ever on the CW (beaten by TVD later on) and I really hope the show can attract good ratings for the finale.
The writing has declined in the show.
Season 1: Was brilliant, the best season of the series.
Season 2: A small decline in the writing. Not as good as season 1 but still enjoyable.
Season 3: Vast improvement on season 2. Really good season.
Season 4: Havn’t seen many episodes from it but not great. Inconsistent character personalities and the season 1 character traits are totally gone.
Season 5: Havn’t seen it at all but hear its not so great.
I really hope that the series finale will be awsome. I will tune in for it.

NOW CW STAY AWAY FROM THIS KIND OF CRAP!

Your fanbase are now in their 20’s at the very least! NO NEED FOR TEENIE BOOPER SOAPS like this…NEXT…THE CARRIE DIARIES GOES!

    @liam

This show ratings started to crash in SEASON TWO and it took MELROSE PLACE right down with it!
