SYFY RENEWS SEXY Supernatural SERIES LOST GIRL – #1 CABLE DRAMA AMONG ADULTS 18-49 AND ADULTS 25-54 IN ITS TIME PERIOD – FOR FOURTH SEASON BEGINNING IN 2014

NEW YORK – February 28, 2013 – Syfy has renewed its sexy Supernatural series Lost Girl – the #1 original cable drama among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 in its time period – for a fourth season. The all-new 13 episode fourth season will begin airing in 2014.

In the series’ current third season, which ends Monday, April 22 at 10PM (ET/PT), Lost Girl is averaging 676,000 Adults 18-49, 721,000 Adults 25-54 and 1.3 million total viewers.

Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Bo is one of the Fae, creatures of legend who pass as humans. Faced with choosing between an allegiance to the Dark or Light Fae clans, Bo takes the middle path between the human and Fae worlds while embarking on a mission to unlock the secrets of her origin.

Lost Girl co-stars Kris Holden-Ried (The Tudors, Underworld 4) as “Dyson”; Ksenia Solo (Life Unexpected; Black Swan) as “Kenzi”; Zoie Palmer (The Guard, Instant Star) as “Lauren”; Rick Howland (Billable Hours, Murdoch Mysteries) as “Trick” and K.C. Collins (Owning Mahowny, Doomstown) as “Hale.”

Lost Girl was developed by Prodigy Pictures, in association with Shaw Media and Showcase. Executive producers are Jay Firestone and Emily Andras. Vanessa Piazza is producer. Produced by Wendy Grean.

Lost Girl is produced with the participation of the Canadian Media Fund created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian cable industry, and with the assistance of the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit Program.

Did showcase in canada already renew the show? Ans syfy is going to air them again, or is syfy actually picking up production?

  • Observer

Kind of confusing, I didn’t think Syfy actually owned this show. It sure must be cheap, though.

  • LovingLostGirl

    OMG! Yes! Yes!

  • Tyler

Syfy just announced what Showcase did today. It was Showcase, not Syfy, who renewed it for another season.

  • RyanCanada

YAY this makes me so happy! wish it was more than 13 episodes tho, but i understand as Anna Silk is pregant. ugh this show is soo good.

  • RyanCanada

Shaw owns the show, its a canadian production

  • Martin

    Woo hoo!

  • Hillbilly

    Yee Haw Cowboy! :)

Now bring back Alphas and the world will be in balance. ;)

  • Tom

Yes! I generally dismiss Showcase productions, but I’m really looking forward to another season of Kenzi. She’s has terrific comedic timing and her constant snark is hilarious. The great onscreen chemistry between Ksenia Solo as Kenzi and Anna Silk as Bo is what keeps Lost Girl running.

BTW: For you SyFy fans: SyFy will reportedly to be running the Canadian import “Primeval: New World”. This is a time travel series which, like Being Human, takes its storyline from a British program. However, “Primeval: New World” was cancelled for low ratings after its 13 episode first season. This means that SyFy fans will likely be stuck with another low rated import that, unfortunately, ends with a cliffhanger.

I hope Continuum also gets a renewal soon. It’s doing better than Lost Girl on SyFy, but I have no idea how it’s doing back in Canada. I’ll assume not as well since they renewed Lost Girl first.

“TORONTO, February 28, 2013 – Midway through its daring third season, Showcase orders a fourth season of the homegrown smash hit, Lost Girl. Boasting giant ratings, the Canadian original series begins production on season four this spring, set to air late 2013.”

BTW Lost Girl season 4 has been on the Directors Guild Of Canada list of up-coming productions for a little while now.

Syfy renewed Lost Girl just like CTV renewed American Idol and Global cancelled Psych. O wait, Canadian broadcasters doesn’t pretend to “renew” shows they simply acquire broadcast rights to. This press release is full of the usual amount of American bs we all know and hate.

Nice to see Shaw grow a pair and get back to showing Lost Girl in September where it belongs. Let Syfy wait four months by their own choosing. Shaw agreeing to keep the show in the closet for months just to make Syfy happy while pissing off most of their own audience was the dumbest thing they could have done. Sort of like the 4 month breaks that Grimm and Revolution are enjoying right now.

    Shepherd,

The season 2 premiere of Continuum is mere weeks away. In Canada. It was renewed a long time ago. As for when it will be on Syfy or IF it will be on Syfy that still hasn’t been publicly declared.

  • The Yipster

For the record, Showcase owns Lost Girl, not Syfy. Don’t get confused by this, Showcase renewed the show earlier before this announcement. Jessica has the link above.

  • Shepherd

    @jessica

I knew it was renewed for season 2 long ago. I kinda assumed that it was on a similar schedule to Lost Girl, and was already airing. I was referring to a season 3 renewal.

I don’t keep up with Canadian news.

  • Shepherd

    P.S.

SyFy is cheap. There’s no doubt that they will air the show as long as episodes are continued to be produced.

  • Richard Steven Hack

This is fine by me. This season the show has even MORE “L word” action than previous seasons. Bo and Lauren are burning up the sheets! :-) The addition of the hot Rachel Skarsten hasn’t hurt, either.

Looking forward to season two of Continuum as well – a reasonably intelligent time travel/action story with a competent cast of Canadian character actors and hottie Rachel Nichols.

  • Shepherd

    @RSH

“Looking forward to season two of Continuum as well – a reasonably intelligent time travel/action story with a competent cast of Canadian character actors…”

Me too. It started off slow, but really gained its footing by season’s end.

  • Tom

It’s a good thing Rachel Nichols is a hottie because she will never win any awards for her acting unless “best stonefaced actress” becomes an Emmy category.

  • Fake Me Out

    w00t! w00t!!

  • Rob

I’m happy for Lost Girl, that’s awesome for them. I don’t really watch the show often at all, but if I do watch it at all, it’s because of Kenzi.

Any word on Being Human yet? I think that’s the only program on Syfy that we haven’t heard about yet. It did better than Lost Girl every Monday as far as I know so.. I was just curious as to if anything’s been said about it.
