New CBS Summer Series “Under The Dome” Begins Production Today
Thursday, Feb. 28 – Production has commenced today in Wilmington, N.C. for CBS’s new summer series, UNDER THE DOME. Acclaimed director Niels Arden Oplev (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) is directing the first episode.
UNDER THE DOME, which premieres Monday, June 24 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS, is based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel about a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome.
UNDER THE DOME stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy and Aisha Hinds.
UNDER THE DOME is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Neal Baer, Stephen King, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the television adaptation, will serve as executive producers.

I can’t wait to see this show. I hope everything turns out well.
is this actually real like a reality or just a fictional programme and is it exactly like the simpsons movie
Won’t touch this with a ten-foot pole. I hate ANYTHING Steven King does. He’s the most over-rated hack writer in the world.
Beyond that, I predict this thing will “die very badly.” It’s another version of The Event or Flash Forward – a show that basically has one very dumb sci-fi premise and the rest of it is mere general drama.
Simpsons Did it! Simpsons Did it!
Yay, more Spider Pig!
What? No Spider Pig? You can’t have a show about a town covered by a dome and not have Spider Pig in it!
Can’t wait for this! Stephen King is a master story-teller. Nobody does it like him! I was really impressed with the TV adaptation of The Stand – hope this one is just as good!
This novel is perfect for a tv show. But hope they avoid the supernatural elements at the end of the book
There were no “supernatural” elements in the novel, just advanced science. You should re-read it.
The book was excellent, hope the show follows suit.
For those of you insinuating Stephen King stole this idea from the Simpsons: Please. “Under the Dome” is a rewrite of a story Stephen King started writing in 1976 entitled “The Cannibals.” Even you knuckleheads should be able to deduce that 1976 came BEFORE 2007. And, anyway, in both King’s version and the Simpson’s version, a town is encased by a dome, but that is where the similarities end. Other than that one coincidence, they are two completely different stories, with King’s being far superior to anyone with a maturity level above that of a 10 year old’s. That being said, I am excited to this show, but I won’t get my hopes up. If past tv/movie adaptations of King’s works are any indication, it will fall far short of the man’s writing. But here’s hoping!
King is a left wing kook.
