How Will 'Red Widow' Premiere Tonight? (Poll)

Red Widow is having its two-hour premiere tonight after Once Upon a Time . Does this new drama have a chance? Once Upon a Time hasn't exactly been the Sunday powerhouse it used to be, and the first hour of the premiere has the misfortune of going up directly against The Walking Dead.  Still, Revenge has been OK in this slot, and Red Widow might attract some of the same viewers before moving to the 10PM hour next week. So what do you think? Will Red Widow premiere well tonight? Make your predictions below and tell us why in the comments!

I agree with others – 2 hours is just too long for a premier. 1.5 demo.

What exactly is this show about?

Mob boss gets offed, widow must take over the family business to protect family from same fate, drama ensues.

    if it’s lucky: 2.2
    if it’s not: 1.7

  • Cyrax86

    2.2 at best.

  • Alan

I hope it does good! It seems like a copycat of Revenge, but I’m going to give it a try.

I think All Star Celebrity Apprentice will do well! NBC has been promoting it a lot and it has lots of anticipation! Not tough competition either. And a lot of viewers will want to tune in to see there favourites from seasons 1-5, plus new viewers as well. And it was off the air for 10 months. So it does have stuff working for it!

If they’d advertised it normally– 2.5-2.7.

Since every ad for it proudly proclaimed: “From the screenwriter of the twilight saga” I’m guessing it loses at least half, maybe a whole point :p

  • FringeFan

It’s been promoted decently, but too many factors are going to lead to it’s demise. I’m predicting within the 1.3-1.5 range & would be shocked if it surpassed that. Here’s why:

#1) Once Upon A Time has sunken to new lows pretty much the last half of this season so the lead-in will be weak.
#2) Celebrity Apprentice premieres in the same time-slot & people will initially check that out to see the wacky cast.
#3) The Walking Dead, while not sharing the same audience, may have a minuet effect on overall ratings.
#4) Who wants to see a TV show that has any association with “Twilight”?

I also saw the pilot and it was decent, pretty good suspense. Definitely better than all the other shows that occupied this slot. I’ll go with 2.0.

I’d rather just have a new Revenge episode :( That said, I think RW will premiere low, like under 1.5. With Zero Hour cancelled, I’m not sure how many people want to give another new ABC series a chance right now.

  • Matt

I’d say around 2.4 and 8 million viewers. Going optimistic for all of the mega promotion it has received despite the under par cast.

  • Robbie

    I’ll guess a solid 2.

I just read a review that completely trashed this thing as being utterly implausible. And I have to say the premise does seem implausible: housewife married to gangster who grew up with gangsters is put in charge of her husband’s operation by the senior gangster when he’s killed by unknown parties.

So it’s a mix of crime story and mystery. I view the premise as implausible and the mix likely to be one of those deals where the writers can’t decide what part of the show to emphasize leading to lack of focus (for example, Last Resort.)

I may check it out, but I suspect it’s going to “die very badly.”

The only nice thing about the cast is Jaime Ray Newman is in it (not the lead, however.) She can play someone tough (if that’s her role) – witness her turn in Grimm.

And it’s not even remotely a “copycat” of Revenge so let’s not go there, please.

I think the 2 hour premiere is a bad, bad idea. A 1.9 is my guess.

    No bubble watch today?

    Once Upon a Time: 2.6
    Red Widow: 2.1

    The Amazing Race: 2.5
    The Good Wife: 1.4
    The Mentalist: 1.6

    The Simpsons: 2.2
    The Cleveland Show: 1.5
    Family Guy (R): 1.7
    American Dad: 1.5

    Dateline NBC: 1.1
    Celebrity Apprentice All-Stars: 1.3

I think Red Widow will premiere the same as 666, but retain more of that audience. The true test will be if it can outrun Nashville.

As for tonight’s other premiere, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Celebrity Apprentice All-Stars will FLOP. Look at the other All-Star seasons-
    DWTS: 3.2 premiere –> 1.9 premiere (-40%)
    Survivor 3.1 premiere –> 2.4 premiere (-23%)

Then look at some shows that have also been off for ~9 months-
    Body of Proof 2.0 finale –> 1.2 premiere (-40%)
    Smash 2.1 finale –> 1.2 premiere (-43%)

If I remember right, Celebrity Apprentice was at about 1.8/1.9 last year. I expect a ~45% drop, so it will end up at about 0.9/1.0. It will premiere at 1.3, though. There is some interest, if little.

    No bubble watch today?

No, Robert is taking the weekend off to look at the technological problems the website has had recently. I hear that the R/C Index won’t be affected, though.

  • Samunto

I’ve just watched the pilot and it’s really really good. I wish it had a more protected timeslot and not air after failing Revenge. Why didn’t debut this in the fall?
    I change and say it’ll do 2.1.

  • Hardline_Pro

    This is the next “Missing”.

  • TSC’s Revenge

It seems like the viewing public’s appetite for these serialized dramas is waning. I’m going with less that 1.5!!
