Red Widow's woeful premiere ratings, which equalled those of Zero Hour, put it directly inside the jaws of the cancellation bear. It's certain to be canceled.

Will it air all 13 episodes ordered? The cancellation bear doesn't try and guess. Enjoy it while you can. Along with Fox's Mob Doctor, that's two mob dinners for the bear in one season!

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Meliwa…that issue is likely specific to your ABC affilliate not a nation-wide issue

And in my opinion, Castle is a great show, and tha acting, particulary, is amazing!
And I also like Revenge and Grey´s Anatomy…

See, just because you don´t like them doesn´t mean a lot of people actually does… and thank God it´s not you who get to decide:)

  • Mari

So why isn’t Castle with those green faces already?! It’s above the 1.0 mark like u said.

  • r0ckmypants

@Vortex4 – Well, good thing ABC renews shows based on ratings and not what you think is “good.” Otherwise they’d be in even sorrier shape than they are, since you’d cancel 3 well-to-very-well rated shows in favor of a show that is tanking.

  • Ann

Excellent show so far. The bad guy reminds me of Christian Grey from 50 shades of Grey. Can’t wait to see more of him.

  • Dan

Nashvile is this year’s save face renewal.

Because ABC had so many freshman flops Castle, Revenge and Once Upon a Time are safe too.

Only Modern Family, Suburgatory, and The Middle are certain comedy renewals.

  • Jo

Already Been Cancelled is pathetic.. They can barely launch a hit, and when they do they methodically kill it with awful scheduling choices.

  • Judy912

Count me as one of those viewers that LOVE ‘Castle’. Hope ABC renews the series for another season.

  • Cyrax86

Per, Body of Proof will air two episodes at 9-11 pm on Tuesday, March 19th.

  • Ekras

Red Widow still has a tiny chance…. if it miraculously got a huge ratings boost in the next episode…. never seen it happen, but it ain’t over till the fat network executive sings….

  • Leverage-Fan

I like “Castle” VERY much, too!

  • JAA

    Another fan of Castle

Ultima: “What they told you was true, from a certain point of view.”

    Nice Obi-Wan reference… :-)

  • Richard Steven Hack

Revenge is fine, OUAT is fine, Castle is fine. Ho-hum.

Body of Proof is doomed. There is no chance it gets renewed. Bad ratings and no chance for syndication since too few episodes have been aired so far and it would require MORE than two more seasons to get there.

  • Ultima

Body of Proof will air two episodes at 9-11 pm on Tuesday, March 19th.

Also, it’s being preempted on 30 April for the Amanda Knox interview.

  • Brian

Just glad that OUAT still have its 5 smilies. It’s coming back for season 3 for sure :)

  • James

    SHIELD (new)

    Shark Tank

    The Middle
    Modern Family
    Middle Age Rage (new)
    Venice (new)

    Betrayal (new)

    Malibu Country
    Happy Endings
    Super Fun Night (new)

    Midseason New Shows:

    Big Thunder
    Divorce: A Love Story

  • Colin

I thought Red Widow was ordered for 8 episodes.

  • HAPPY!

A risky schedule for ABC next year.

    8-OUAT (22 episodes)
    9-Revenge (22 episodes)
10-Nashville (22 episodes) (this slot cannot launch new dramas, so Nashville could do well here instead)

    Monday (no change)
    8-DWTS/The Bachelor/DWTS
    10-Castle (22 episodes)

Tuesday (move Shark Tank to the 8 pm slot)
    8-Shark Tank
    9-DWTS/The Bachelor/DWTS
    10-NEW DRAMA

    8-The Middle (24 episodes)
    8:30-The Neighbours (24 episodes)
    9-Modern Family (24 episodes)
    9:30-NEW COMEDY
    10-NEW DRAMA

    8-Grey’s Anatomy (22 episodes)
    9-S.H.I.E.L.D (NEW DRAMA)
    10-Scandal (22 episodes)

    8-Last Man Standing (22 episodes)
    8:30-Malibu Country (22 episodes)
9-How to Live With Your Parents (13 episodes)/Modern Family (REPEAT from Wednesday)
    9:30-Suburgatory (22 episodes)

    Family Tools

If it is possible, can you please give me comments on this schedule.

  • Matt

I can see Red Widow canned, and have ‘Betrayal’ air in its slot (Sundays @ 10) after Revenge. Also, I can see ‘Doubt’ at Tuesdays at 10 (if BOP is canned) and then Gothica Thrusdays at 8. Comedy wise, HE and APT. 23 are certainly se facto cancelled, so I can see a pairing of Mandy Moore’s ‘Pulling’ and ‘Mixology’ paired for a Tuesday comedy night, if ABC is willing to take a 5% risk of success there again. Nashville, I can see staying Wednesdays at 10.
