Red Widow's woeful premiere ratings, which equalled those of Zero Hour, put it directly inside the jaws of the Cancellation Bear. It's certain to be canceled.

Will it air all 13 episodes ordered? The cancellation bear doesn't try and guess. Enjoy it while you can. Along with Fox's Mob Doctor, that's two mob dinners for the bear in one season!

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

  • Gary S

If S.H.E.I.L.D. gets picked up, it will most likely be a Sunday show .

  • CraveRecords

Sasha, I like where you’re going with the schedule! My stab is below.

    Mon
    DWTS/The Bachelor
    DWTS/The Bachelor
    New Drama

    Tue
    DWTS Results/Wipeout
    New Drama
    Castle

    Wed
    The Middle
    New comedy
    Modern Family
    New comedy
    New drama
*I don’t think ABC will air a new drama on Wednesday simply because there’s been a new show at 10 every year since 2000 (I think). Most TV watchers probably flip the channel thinking the show will eventually get the can. Revenge should have stayed for stability, but ABC promoted the move to Sunday like crazy and I don’t think they’ll wage a campaign if it moved back. Nashville’s numbers stink, though.

    Thu
    Grey’s Anatomy
    New drama
    Scandal

    Fri
    Last Man Standing
    New comedy
    Suburgatory
    The Neighbors
    20/20

    Sat
College sports, movies, encores, General Hospital (yeah, right)

    Sun
    AFV
    Once Upon a Time
    New drama
    Revenge

    Hold for insurance:
    Nashville
Any one of their several reality shows
Handful of dramas and comedies for mid-season

  • CraveRecords

    Woops, forgot about Shark Tank!

  • Sara

    Sunday:
    7-AFHV
    8-OUAT(this show is staying put)
9-Revenge(this show is starting to work well on Sunday so it stays)
10-Killer Woman(nice way top off the night with a show that does speak to the same audience as Revenge)

    Monday:
    8-10-DWTS/Bachelor
    10-Castle

    Tuesday:
8-DWTS results(30 min because the show is suffering from being overbloated)
8:30-Spy(only area it would fit on abc)
9-SHIELD(this is the best spot for the show as it fixes Tuesdays at abc)
10-The Returned(makes Tuesday the guys night at ABC)

    Wednesday:
    8-the middle
    8:30-suburgatory
    9-Modern Family
9:30-Trophy Wife(another modern family type show)
10- Super Fun Night(abc should try 10pm comedy again. It just needs the right advertisement)
    10:30- Pulling or Happy Endings

    Thursday:
    8-Grey’s Anatomy
9-Influence(a show like Scandal about people circumventing the law should work well here)
    10-Scandal

    Friday:

  • Sara

    Friday:
    8-last man standing
    8:30-the neighbors
    9-shark tank
    10-20/20

  • Rebecca

@Fred and anyone else who enjoyed 666PA
Just FYI…the final four episodes (and the rest of the season) of 666PA are available to watch online. I found them and watched them on the project free tv site today. Worth watching IMO. Probably could have been better but I was satisfied with it.

  • Richard Steven Hack

BoB: “Going to be interesting this week when Red Widow ticks up and the bear feels its sting.”

So much for that idea… It fell further. :-)

I skipped the premiere but did watch this week. I was not impressed. The premise just becomes more implausible the more you watch. It’s more of a comedy show than a drama. All the stuff with the kids is just pointless filler intended to bring home the fact that the lead is totally unsuited to her role, which makes the premise even more implausible.

    It’s doomed.

  • 12phillies

Red widow is a good show stop canceling good shows why don’t u cancell theses stupid reality shows

  • Expertinator

Red Widow should be off the air yesterday. Worst writing, worst casting, worst premise and absolutely annoying from beginning to end. Yeah, I watched so shame on me. No more. Take those other episodes and put them in the dumpster where they belong and never let the people associated with this show near a production studio again.

  • Kym

Red widow is a great show; stop axing shows prematurely and start putting them on the appropriate night and time. Studio execs have swallowed the wrong pill and slipped down the wrong rabbit hole! Sophomoric plots and premises and ridiculous reality tv shows— ax those. If they’re wondering why ratings are low it is bbecause they pull the plug on great shows before allowing them to develop! What a bunch of busters and I’m bring nice! Take a lesson from cable; be fearless , smart , edgy and time/night appropriate! Who is your target audience? Certainly not me! Who are you surveying in these ratings of yours? This is not family feud where you survey 100 primates! Stop assuming we’re dumb sheep— what is happening to broadcast Tv rivals a Real Fringe event!

  • JenSocal38

I TOTALLY agree with Dude M., Red Widow is a fantastic show! Great writing and terrific characters.. Why even bother watching new shows when the likelihood of it being cancelled is high?

  • Kim styles

I love Red Widow. Hope they change their minds. Or another channel picks it up…..

  • karen

I love red widow!!! Im surprised of the cancelling of the show bummer

  • Daniel Lynch

Great show! Best show since Grimm on NBC. It would be a very big mistake by ABC. DO NOT CANCEL
