    @Dan & Raz

I’m not too sure if you guys are aware of this but The President gave the order to conduct and proceed with the mission to kill Bin Laden. Crossing Pakistan’s border without their permission was the biggest risk of his political career. If Bin Laden had not been captured or killed, he would’ve been done and out of the oval office. It was a huge risk that many of his advisors were not willing to take. However, he looked past the risk and gambled on the possibility that Bin Laden was going to be killed or captured.
Unlike Clinton, who let him go and Bush who gave up looking for him, Obama actually got him. I’m very glad he didn’t listen to his advisors and actually took the risk in entering Pakistan without their permission. That’s the type of President I like.

But let’s stop the tours of the White house and lay off people etc etc etc

  • Ratboy

Bush NEVER ordered to give up looking for Bin Laden!! What an idiotic thing to say!!!! He may have moved it down on the priority list but the intel continued and if leads came up they were followed! Pretty dumb thing for a military guy to say!

  • Ratboy

Mark2’s military career is starting to look a lot like Jeffies Bentley!!

  • dana

Mark2:: really? a risk not going after Osama? What was the risk, as i am sure he calculated, of having him and not nailing him….there isnt a president worth his salt, ala clinton, that would have stood down on this one…didnt take alot of guts!!

  • Mark2

@Dana “a risk not going after Osama? What was the risk, as i am sure he calculated, of having him and not nailing him….”

I just told you the risk…can’t you read?

  • Mark2

You don’t don’t know the first thing about the military so shut your trap.

  • Mike W

If it is true that they shut down the Federal Government in Washington today they should count this 1 of the threatened furlough days since they are not working anyway. This would be a win/win for the people paying the bills.

FED SURVEY: Businesses Say They’re Hiring Less And Laying Off Workers Because Of Obamacare

Below is an excerpt from the Richmond Fed’s section of the Beige Book:

Labor market activity was little changed since our last report. Hiring remained flat across most sectors, although there were some exceptions. Employers across the District continued to cite the Affordable Care Act and its unknown impacts as reasons for planned layoffs and reluctance to hire more staff.

Here is another excerpt from the Dallas Fed’s section

Some contacts noted concern that client companies are hiring the absolute minimum to get by due to uncertainty about the Affordable Care Act.

  • Cathy

Mark2, I did read page 18. I didn’t see how he hooked you up. What did those bill do for you personally?

You see it’s like The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. It only extended the time you have to file a suit by 90 days. This law has not be used, so it has helped no one.
The republican vote against laws that do nothing or won’t be used.

So, again I ask, how did the laws you stated impact you personally?

I know from working with disable vets for over 40 years that many of “the back to work programs” for the Disable Veterans have been dropped. I’ve worked with a program that trains vets in the IT field, from simply using Microsoft office to learning to be a SQL Server DBA. We used to get half of our funding under Bush. But we had to open are training to the paying public to keep helping the vets.

  • usa8888

Obama inherited the worst recession in history, caused by real estate and bank fraud. And he inherited Bush’s UNFUNDED DEBT. In spit of right wing obstruction, Obama has 28 months of consecutive job growth. On top of this Obama has produced a stock market with RECORD growth!!! Spending in a recession or depression, especially when interest rates at zero–this is a great time to build infrastructure and create jobs at the same time.
