they should have renewed one tree hill

  • Guest

Can the CW moved 90210 back to 8pm?!?!.. It was doing better in the time slot and did better than TCD! CW TCD failed let it die at 9pm

  • Pavelsauce

Those are great ratings for The Following. I saw it for the first time last night. It lives up to its buzz, it’s intense! :)

  • chris

    yay for the following :)

  • zilla-rilla

presumedly the following would not have tied the bachelor since its second hour is always more highly rated. :)

  • HalCapone

I believe The Following has peaked in the ratings and has nowhere to go but down. The subject matter leads me to believe the series will lose steam rather quickly and be exterminated by the serial programming killers at FOX after its runs next year. My guess is it will be a mercy killing.

  • Chris2.0

Wow the amount of hate for The Carry Diaries is too much. Nasty people leaving nasty comments…such a shame.

  • Mikey M

I predicted TCD would bomb. I could have saved the network the money.

  • getmilk

Arrow, SPN, TVD, Nikita, HOD and BatB renewed.

Cancelled: TCD, 90210, Emily Owens, Cult,

  • Steph

TCD is a cute show… I’ve watched most of the episodes, but I won’t really miss it if it’s cancelled. It’s sort of fluff to me, and since the CW has so many viable pilots in the works, I’d be really surprised if they kept TCD around at those numbers.

  • Matt

TCD is doing awful but it still makes more sense for The CW to give it a renewal over BatB which pulls pathetic numbers given its TVD lead in. Anyone who thinks BatB should be renewed over TCD is just…delusional. lol

Neither should be renewed but at this point it all depends on how happy The CW are with their pilots for next season. Hart of Dixie is definitely safe now.

  • Networkman

Mike & Molly repeat grew out of the 2 Broke Girls repeat. It is impressive considering it would be facing the strongest half hours of The Biggest Loser and The Bachelor. And also it did not follow the original episode of Rules of Engagement.

  • David Howell

Deception third in the slot against reruns, and yet it’s probably still in the toss-up range relative to the recent NBC scripted average!

Can we move HoD to likely renewal yet? It’s clearly ahead of TCD, and being a sophomore self-starter helps it over BaTB.

2.2 with reruns either side isn’t bad at all for ROE. I’m still convinced NBC could make something of it. Even if that something was a 1.7 or so, it’d be the #1 returning sitcom on NBC!

  • CookyMonzta

Has there yet been a show on VHF network television that has drawn a 0.1 rating (or even 0.05) in the 18-49 demo on a 1 or 0 share?

Matt: “it still makes more sense for The CW to give it a renewal over BatB which pulls pathetic numbers given its TVD lead in. Anyone who thinks BatB should be renewed over TCD is just…delusional. lol”

No, you’re delusional. In the end, what matters are the REAL numbers, not the alleged “loss of lead-in”. Retentionistas are usually delusional. As has been repeated ad nauseum here, NO show has done well after TVD. TSC had the best shot and did WAY better than BATB in ratings and still got canceled. TCD would fare even worse if it were in the same slot.

BOTH BATB and TCD should be canceled. But TCD should be canceled first. It’s numbers are pathetic and explaining them by saying the show should have a decent lead-in is just brain dead. Shows stand and are renewed or canceled on their own, not on their lead-ins. It would be ridiculous for a network to renew a show with pathetic numbers solely because it didn’t have a lead-in or had a poor lead-in. Maybe you MOVE a show in that situation, but you don’t make a renewal decision based on that.

The TCD crazies are almost worse than the BATB nuts. At least BATB still has a low but not dreadfully low season average. TCD hasn’t got squat and all the TCD crazies can come up with are lead-in excuses.

Hopefully Fox orders a lot, and I mean a lot, of good-looking scripted orders for next year. They really had a steaming pile this year.

And, WOW, surprised Bones didn’t get adjusted down after seeing the half hours. Steady as a rock, even after all these years… with that huge ad rates that gets it is basically up to the main actors and related whether they want to continue at this point, as with those ratings it could go on for many more years.

Even though it isn’t my cup of tea, Fox has handled The Following quite well so far. Now they just need to give it some stability for next year so it actually stays on.

  • RandomCommentor

Oh yeah, and CW should definitely cancel BOTH BATB and TCD. That network is in dire straights and needs to continue to make drastic changes if it wants to survive.

  • Dan S

The Following was off the hook Mon. Now that Joe Carroll is on the loose it opens up a world of possibilities as to where this show can go. He’s got a legion of nut jobs at his beck & call & now he has his young son Joey. I can’t believe their nearly halfway thru the season already. With only 15 episodes it’s programmed more like a cable series & will have a long wait from May until next Jan.

  • Carl

@Allison, unless there are drastic ratings drops this and next season (which there could be, you never know), or the CW just decides they’re done with the show (which could also happen, you never know), SPN is probably going to be on through at least season 10, as Jared and Jensen signed up for two more seasons.

I thought Sera Gamble was a poor showrunner for SPN but maybe she will be better on her own show.

I’ve never watched TCD, although I’m sorry that the fans can’t come here to hear about the show without all the jockeying. I think the CW just overestimated SATC appeal when it’s a period drama, which is a hard sell, especially with a franchise which died a natural death. But I hope the show might be able to surprise, and have another chance, especially since they have Freema Agyeman.

    @ richard

you can call retentionista all you want, but batb doesn’t even keep half of its lead in and would be worse off than tcd if it were fully standing on its own in an 8 pm slot.

i still say tcd gets renewed over batb but if tcd isn’t even pulling a .5 then i can see them both cancelling, presuming cw has enough cash to promote another show.

poor cw, that network is just failing all over the place. :(
