CBS's NEW DRAMA "Golden Boy" TO REMAIN IN TUESDAY,
10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT TIME PERIOD

An Original "Golden Boy" Will Air This Friday as Previously Scheduled

"Vegas" Moves to Friday, 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT, Effective April 5

Golden Boy, CBS's new drama about the meteoric rise of an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City, will remain on Tuesdays (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), after two special previews in the time period.

CBS previously announced that Golden Boy would move to Friday (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) after the preview broadcasts on Feb. 26 and March 3. An original episode of GOLDEN BOY will still air this first Friday (March 8) at 9:00 PM, ET/PT as planned.

CBS will give the freshman drama VEGAS a look in a new time period, moving it to Friday (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning April 5, following the Network's coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.

In its two Tuesday broadcasts, GOLDEN BOY is winning its time period in viewers and key demographics, averaging 9.98 million viewers, 2.6/07 in adults 25-54 and 1.7/05 in adults 18-49.

GOLDEN BOY stars Theo James, Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany and Stella Maeve. Greg Berlanti and Emmy Award winner Nicholas Wootton are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television.

VEGAS stars Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O'Mara, Taylor Handley and Sarah Jones. Greg Walker, Nicholas Pileggi, Cathy Konrad, Arthur Sarkissian and James Mangold are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

I guess if Vegas can hold it’s current ratings on a Friday, it may have a (small) chance of renewal, but this basically shows that CBS are going to cancel it.

  • SJ

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, I see. Both shows are still doomed.

  • Matthew Chapman

I’m Sure Bill will say this in his CBS Renew/Cancel headline next week but this needs saying anyway-The end result for both Vegas and Golden Boy is still the same (Cancellation)

  • The End

Strange decision that, not many episodes of Vegas left.

  • Hepha

I really don’t know what this means. Vegas is not that condemned, after all ? Golden Boy on Tuesdays ? It’s really weird because its ratings are really bad after two episodes… Vegas wasn’t that low after two episodes…
And it’s all the weirder that CBS is not even trying to see what GB could do( on a long term) on Fridays !

  • TV Addict

I totally called this! Not surprised at all

  • MARSEPH

Not such a strange decision, Vegas was averaging a 1.5 demo, GB has done slightly better but my bet is that it skews a little younger….Vegas is dead so why not just move it to Fridays and see if anything happens, its a better fit with Blue Bloods than GB anyways

  • The End

    @Hepha
@I really don’t know what this means.

The guillotines blade has dropped, the head has left the body and is being jeered by the audience, before someone comes along to pick up the basket and throw away.

  • Jared

Deadline reports CBS does this on occasion to test out other air dates. They feel VEGAS will be renewed

  • Quadrey

    I knew it

  • Greg Chenoweth

CBS is trying to find out if there is a show that will do better on Fridays at 9 p.m. They may end up staying with CSI:NY if VEGAS and GOLDEN BOY do not do well.

  • Hepha

    @The End

Nice way of seeing it :D
I just think that CBS is completely messing up with its bubble shows ! They are already in a great danger, with borderline ratings… It’s not really clever to air them on randomly timeslot !

  • CBSviewer

What will replace CSI: NY until April 5 ?

  • American

    Holy cow! The old flipper-roo!

  • Shepherd

I can’t say that a lot of people didn’t see this as a real possibility. I haven’t started GB yet, but I would have thought it would be a better ‘partner’ to BB; then again multiple NY cop shows on Friday hasn’t particularly done well for CBS so far.

Seems like they made the right decision.

  • Andrea

    What does this mean???

    Robert, Bill?

  • John A

I saw Micheal Chiklis tweet a while ago that Vegas will be renewed for sure. Most bubble shows actors say they hope or are very optimistic but he seems deluded about it. He must not look at ratings.

  • KT

@SJ LOL! I like that analogy.

  • eridapo

Wow.. I actually do think this changes Vegas odds from certain cancellation to likely cancel… I believe the Vegas audience will follow the show to Friday, and it is more than likely that its ratings will match Blue Bloods… If that happens, CBS might likely keep the series.

  • Ryann

What sort of ratings did vegas get at the start? Didnt it get the highest viewers of all the new shows?
