  • James

GH went up in W18-34 as well.

  • UmAnyways

days is playing it too safe right now. It’s my favorite show but it’s like watching a movie at a theater as u hear big booms and a action packed sounds from another movie in the theater. The other soaps are booming with suspenseful soaptastic storylines where as days is staying more family oriented and not even its more important storyline are roaring like how they should. They need to fire heir writers again and hire back he ones that won last yrs daytime Emmy or someone like them. Too tame for a soap.

  • DenverDean

The top 3 continue to experience big gains year over year. Quite the reversal of fortune for the genre.

  • ragincajun

Y&R was up in women 18-49 as well, but I don’t see that in the headline!

  • rob60990

Good for GH but the vampire nonsense needs to end.

  • Mike

I find that funny too ragincajun. Every week the headline stays the same as the one that SON puts up but this week they change it. And both Y&R and GH went up in 18-49. Also both were up in 18-34.

Anyway glad for Y&R. As to drops I expected them. For the last few years the weeks after holidays seem to bring a drop. Also many of the big shows in primetime were down that week too. So it was to be expected.

  • Jeff

It’s a headline, it can’t explain all the info in one short sentence, and Y&R has been pictured for a few weeks now in the cover picture.

Separately, ratings “flow” for lack of a better word, still never make sense to me. So, GH is up 18k in 18-34, up 2k in 18-49, which means it must be down in 35-49 demo, and down in ratings by 120k. It’s too bad Soapopera network doesn’t show men and teen #’s. I think Marc Bermans column used to show pretty much all the breakdowns. It was interesting.

At any rate, good for 3 of the 4 shows being up in ratings and demos over last year. Up is up. Better than the networks can say about 90% of its primetime shows.

  • Derrick

    Still good ratings wise!

  • TV Gord

rob, the vampire nonsense on GH HAS ended.

I’m not sure which show you are watching umAnyways but Y&R is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO not booming with suspenseful storylines. That’s the main problem with that show — it’s ALL conversation and little to no action. OMG, yesterday’s episode had about 5 scenes with Adam and Sharon discussing practically the same crap all over again that we’ve already heard a 100 times already. And speaking of Adam — what happened to that once interesting character that was running all over GC stirring up trouble with anyone he came in contact with? He is SO boring now talking only about his father or running Newman Enterprises. He’s a fantastic actor if only they would write an interesting story for him.

  • Shelly

Way to go soaps!!! I’m watching faithfully. TV is OFF at 3:00! I haven’t heard much about the talk shows lately. I guess they don’t have much to cheer about these days.

  • Derrick

Lord have mercy on you, Tim!

  • Sean

GO GH!! Everybody who isnt watching, is missing out on SO much fun!

  • TimsDale4ever

I just read that Tony Todd from the CANDYMAN horror films is going to join Y&R as Leslie and Tyler’s father. I’ve been wondering who was going to be in this role. Good fit if you don’t know him. He WILL be able to play a very pissed off father to the hilt!

  • cass

i still dont think that amc and oltl are coming back on abc

  • s0303

@they are going to be on abc…it’s on hulu…

  • s0303

grrr…aren’t going to be on abc…

  • Mike

But Jeff that still doesn’t explain why this week of all weeks the change was made. Usually they just copy the same headline that SON has. And many people on here complain about that esp. when it says all soaps are down. Which again is the headline at SON.

I don’t mind them changing it but since only 2 shows were up in the demos this week I don’t understand the reasoning in naming one and not the other.

And as far as on soap getting recognition over the other. For several weeks back in December GH was the only soap to be picture for several weeks in a row.

But why in the world does it have to be a fight anyway. I’m for all the soaps to do well and get recognition. Esp. when they deserve it.

  • Nick

that’s a funny, funny headline. Up 2,000 in women 18-49. Down 120,000 overall.

  • GH Fan

Love how armchair pundits keep trying to manipulate the numbers to vindicate their own biases against certain shows and/or showrunners. Ratings go up, ratings go down. There isn’t always any rhyme or reason to it. GH is up considerably from a year ago (that’s a fact, not an opinion) and is much more entertaining than it was during the miserable Frons/Guza/Phelps regime (that may be an opinion, but it seems to be shared by the majority of the show’s audience).
