JOY BEHAR ON HER DECISION TO LEAVE “THE VIEW” AFTER 16 SEASONS,
LIVE, MONDAY, MARCH 11
Her First Television Appearance Since Making the Announcement
Joy Behar discusses her decision to exit ABC’s “The View” (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET) with her pals Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd live MONDAY, MARCH 11. As an original cast member, Ms. Behar has been instrumental in the success of “The View” since its creation in 1997 and will continue to appear for the remainder of the season.
“You can’t stay forever on a show,” Ms. Behar told “Good Morning America” exclusively. “I am graciously exiting stage left. I’ve put in 16 years and felt the time was right. I want to explore other opportunities.”
The View may lose two of its co-hosts. Joy Behar has announced that she will be leaving the ABC talk show at the end of the season. She has been with the show since its debut sixteen and a half years ago. Us reports that ABC has opted to let Elizabeth Hassleback go because she tested poorly in ABC’s market research. A representative for the show neither confirmed nor denied the rumor making the ambiguous statement, “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract.”
